A/N: Something's going to happen in the next chapter and there's a hint(s) in this chapter. So if any of you can guess just leave a review! Hope you guys enjoy!
Bloody Bones: a boogeyman feared by children, and if one gets in your home it'll live in dark cupboards, usually under the stairs. If you were heroic enough to peep through the crack you would get a glipse of the dreadful, crouching creature, with blood running down his face, seated waiting on a pile of raw bones that had belonged to children and adults. Bloody Bones frightens people over time and once victim is at climax of fear kills them.
Nina POV
It was a forceful kiss, desperate with love and fading worry.
"You could have died," he muttered against my lips.
"Can't get rid of me that easily," I smiled jokingly.
"Please don't joke about that," he begged.
"Sorry, I'm kind of used to it so I joke about it sometimes," I replied sheepishly.
"That bothers me even more. That you're used to almost dying," he uttered.
"Actually, I'm not that used to the situation that happened today," I told him honestly. He shook his head at me as the door to his room opened.
"Am I interrupting?" Eddie questioned as he stepped in.
"Yes actually," I smiled sickeningly sweet.
"Sorry but we got a file on the new recruits we're training first. I thought you'd might wanna be there when KT and I open it," he told me as I got up. I followed him to the living room where the rest of Anubis was.
"Let's see who these kids are," I groans as I sat on the arm rest. Eddie threw me one of the three folders as I caught it with ease.
"Ready?" KT asked, looking to Eddie and I. We nodded as we all opened the files quickly.
"Dexter, he looks like a weirder version of Fabian," Eddie groaned.
"Erin, she looks like a Mara," KT spoke softly.
"And Cassie, she's a worse version of Amber," I sighed.
"Hey!" Amber shrieked at me.
"Do you think you can train them?" Patricia questioned after telling Amber to shut up and sitting down beside Eddie.
"Never judge a book by its cover, but I can at least tell it's going to be hard," Eddie told her as her face twisted in confusion.
"How can you tell?"
"Hunting isn't a family business for them. When you aren't born into it, it's a lot harder to grasp," he explained as she nodded.
"Speaking of hard to train, have you heard from Beat?" I inquired.
"No and I'm happy I haven't!" Eddie shouted.
"Take a chill pill, just cause you don't like her doesn't mean you need to get all happy that she hasn't called," I replied.
"How can I not be happy? Every time she's around or she calls I almost die!" he screamed.
"Well that's your fault," I muttered. He rolled his eyes as the rest of the house watched us with amusement.
"They're always like this," KT whispered to Joy as she nodded.
"No we're not!" Eddie and I shouted simultaneously. Everyone laughed as I rolled my eyes.
"Who's Beat?" Amber questioned.
"She's my childhood friend and she's also a hunter," I told her.
"Yea, a trouble making hunter who likes getting in trouble and almost killing me," Eddie added.
"Sounds amazing," Patricia grinned. Eddie nudged her as KT turned to me.
"Are we ready to begin training these newbies?" KT asked.
"Yea, we should be ready. It's just a matter of when we begin," Eddie butted in right when I was about to talk. I glared at him as a thought came to my mind.
"Speaking of training, when are we going to give them a crash course?" I inquired, pointing a thumb at my housemates.
"Umm, NEVER," Eddie said.
"I can take care of myself!" Patricia scolded at him.
"Yea Eddie, she really can. While I have no proof I'm certain she's a witch," Jerome spoke up as we all chuckled at him comment.
"It's not a good idea!"
"We have to! They need to be able to defend themselves somehow! You saw today, we obviously need their help!" I screamed at him. He's making me mad today. First, he almost kills me, and now he keeps arguing with me. Maybe it's his way of coping. He sighed in defeat as Patricia got up and ran a hand down his arm. He automatically relaxed at the contact as he looked around the room.
"We'll start training them when we train the newbies," he sighed heavily as Patricia grabbed his hand.
"Ok, that's enough for today. You guys need to rest. That also means to not wake up at like...four in the morning," Patricia spoke up as we all nodded.
Alfie POV
Amber and I sat at the dining room table doing our homework when a knock came at the door. I got up to get it, opening the door widely.
"Can I help you?" I questioned as I leaned against the door.
"I was told to come help with a leak," the man spoke.
"Oh, come on in," I invited the man in.
"Gladly." The man sprouted fangs, lunging towards me and sinking his teeth into my neck.
I shot up in bed, letting out a heavy breath. Just a dream. I fell back onto my bed, closing my eyes as I wiped the sweat from my forehead. A high pitched scream filled the silent house as I shot out of bed. Dashing into the foyer, I saw Amber on the floor shaking and in tears.
"What's wrong? What happened?" I questioned, moving to pull her in a hug.
"I don't know. I heard something outside my door and I got up, thinking it was you or Jerome trying to prank me. I came downstairs and something just jumped out, terrifying me," she told me in a trembling tone.
"Hey, everything's ok, nothing's going to hurt you," I cooed as everyone else came into the foyer.
"Alfie, what happened?" KT questioned me as I explained quickly.
"Amber, I need you to try your hardest to remember what it looked like," Nina spoke softly, kneeling down to her level.
"It looked like...like...like that!" Amber hesitated before shouting. All of us turned around to see a skeleton like creature with blood cloaked over it and loose bones in its hands.
"Bloody Bones," Patricia muttered.
"How'd you know?" Eddie questioned with confusion.
"He used to terrorize me as a child," she told him.
"You should be dead," Eddie blurted out as Trixie looked at him wide-eyed.
"What do we need to do?" I interrupted, standing up.
"You, Jerome, Joy and Willow need to go keep a look out for Trudy and Victor," KT demanded as the other three nodded.
"Can I stay here with Amber?" I asked as Nina said a yes.
"How do we take this down?" Fabian inquired in a sort of excitement.
"We don't, Patricia does," Eddie stated as all of our jaws dropped. "What? Eddie, I can't do anything. I don't know what to do."
"Just go up to it."
"Eddie, I don't think she should be doing this," Nina spoke up.
"I wouldn't let her do it if she could get hurt," Eddie snapped at her. I felt a tugging on my sleeve as I looked down at Amber. Sitting down beside her, she brought her lips to my ear.
"She's charmed," she whispered. My face twisted in confusion as I let out a "what?".
"Look closely, you see that sort of shimmer around her." I squinted my eyes and concentrated the best I could. My vision became blurry as a white, almost clear, shimmer appeared around Patricia.
"How'd you see that?" I questioned her.
"I don't know, I've always been able to see it," she muttered, watching Patricia. Ok, creepy.
"Yacker, I wouldn't put you in danger," Eddie tried to soothe her. Bloody Bones let out a jokester's laugh as we all froze. "Do you trust me?" She nodded slowly before stepping foreword and sucking in a breath of courage.
"Get out of this house or you'll be sorry," she uttered in a shaky breath.
"Silly girl," Bloody Bones laughed as he bounded towards Patricia.
"Stand your ground," KT whispered. The goth pixie gave a nod as the blood covered skeleton stopped in front of her.
Patricia POV
I closed my eyes as the dripping, warm, red liquid hit my feet. Ew. It gripped my ankle as I let out a scream. I stopped my scream short and opened my eyes.
"What?" Bloody Bones grunted out as it gripped my leg again.
"That's what I thought," Eddie muttered as he staked the creature.
"What? What'd you think?" I asked all panicky. Calm down, you're Patricia Williamson for goodness sake. "Why didn't it attack me?"
"Oh, it tried, if you were anyone else you'd be dead by now," Eddie told me.
"Eddie what is going on?"
"You're charmed," he muttered.
"What does that mean!" I shouted.
"Guys, Trudy's coming!" Joy whisper shouted.
"Everyone get to your rooms," KT said.
"Eddie," I let out as he turned back to me.
"Yacker, if it was bad I wouldn't be this calm. You're safe, I promise," he spoke softly. I nodded as I headed upstairs.
"We need to get Stella here," I heard Eddie mutter to Nina as I shut the door to the upstairs.
