Hey amigos! I've finally updated my very predictable story! WOOHOO.

Chapter 48

-Christina P.O.V-

After Four left, I started formulating a plan to reveal his innocence. I would still try to talk to Tris, but I wasn't confident that she would believe me, even though she knows that I'm a horrible liar. Will wasn't home yet and I needed his help. Even though he hasn't been an Erudite for a long time, he was still the smartest person I knew. He wouldn't have trouble coming up with a plan.

There was another person that could help. Jessie. She and Tris are close, and she ranked first. It seemed highly improbable that she wouldn't try to help me clear Fours name. At least for Tris' sake.

It was only two o'clock. After we dropped Tris off, Jessie said she was going back to the cafeteria. Perhaps she was still there.

I heaved myself to my feet. Grayson has been quiet today. My hand found its way to my bump, hoping for a response. There it was. A strong kick from my little boy.

I found Jessie as soon as I left my apartment. In fact, I think she was the one who found me, for as soon as she saw me, Jessie rushed over. I reopened my door and ushered her inside.

"You don't believe Four cheated either?" I asked as I turned around.

"Nope."

"So, what are we going to do?"

"I was thinking that we should go and see Doctor Hart. He's the only one who could possibly know anything besides that skank." Jessie suggested.

"Four already tried. The doctor is not here. And he won't be for two weeks." I told her.

"Damn." She was obviously trying hard to think of a plan that would actually be reasonable. After a while she looked up. "I guess that means we'll just have to do it by ourselves."

-Tris P.O.V-

When I felt the hand on mine, I almost didn't open my eyes. I just figured that it was Christina checking up on me. But I quickly realized that the hand was too large to be Christina's. My eyes opened and there he was.

Tobias.

At first I was happy, but I soon remembered why I shouldn't be. He cheated on me. With Bella Lynn Sawyer. I guess one baby just wasn't enough for him.

I almost told him to leave, but the fact that he was even here silenced me. And Tobias had also started to speak.

"I know you may not want me here right now, but you're going to have to deal with it. Because I am not going anywhere." He said.

Those words almost made me jump in his arms and tell him that I believe him. Almost.

Just because he was here didn't mean that he didn't cheat. It showed that he had good in him, but that wasn't enough. I felt a fresh tear slide down my face at the thought of us never being together again. Could I eventually forgive him? What about our baby? His or her life was going to be so complicated. I closed my eyes, trying to squash those thoughts.

Tobias' lips brushed like my forehead, just like they always did when he told me he loved me or if I had nightmares. It almost felt the same. Once again, almost.

"I'll be on the couch if you need me." I felt his weight removed from the bed. He hasn't yet let go of my hand. "I love you, Tris."

He paused for a minute. Maybe he was hoping that I would say something in return. I couldn't bring myself to do it. I could tell him that I loved him and actually mean it, but I just couldn't bring myself to say the words.

When his hand was no longer on mine, I was surprised to find that I actually missed it's presence. The door closed and I rolled onto my back, opening my eyes. I decided that I was going to do something that I wouldn't do tomorrow, or the next day, or maybe ever again.

Before I could talk myself out of it, I forced myself to get up and open the door. Tobias looked up in surprise. Without say anything, I walked over and grabbed his hand, leading him back into the bedroom.

"One last time." I whispered as we lay down next to each other, his arms wrapped around me like he would never let go.

It was early in the afternoon, but I didn't care. I was dead tired and I think Tobias was too. And I could have been imagining it, but I could have sworn I heard Tobias quietly say, "It won't be the last time."

When I awoke, Tobias was no longer beside me, and I was actually both relieved and upset. After so many mornings of having him next to me, I guess I wasn't expecting it to be this hard. The smell of food wafted in from the kitchen. That was not normal since we hardly ever used the kitchen.

I got up to investigate and found a plate of eggs and toast. Beside it was a note.

Tris,

I made you some breakfast.

Please eat it. You need your strength.

I'll be back later.

I've gone to search for evidence of my innocence.

If I don't find any within the next few days, then I'll wait till Doctor Hart gets back.

I swear I didn't do this to you.

I love you so much. Just know that.

-Tobias

The note in my hand felt like it weighed ten pounds. Doctor Hart would know, wouldn't he? And of course he's gone. The one time I actually want to go and see him, he's gone.

All I wanted was to believe that Tobias didn't actually cheat on me. What if he didn't? For the first time I thought of that as a possibility. If he didn't, and he proves himself innocent, I don't think I could forgive myself for doubting him. Forget about forgiving myself, how would he ever be able to forgive me.

If Tobias was searching for proof of his innocence, I was going to as well. I didn't want us to end so easily.

After eating the food Tobias left, I threw on some clothes and headed over to Christina's. When she answered the door, I looked in and saw that Jessie was inside.

Christina saw that I noticed and immediately looked guilty. She stepped aside and allowed me to come in.

"Hey Jessie." I said casually. "What're you doing here?"

Jessie hesitated. "Uhh…"

Christina stepped in. "We're trying to prove that Four didn't cheat on you."

Well, at least now I had both Jessie and Christina to help me. I knew it was pointless to try and recruit Gwen since she's been the only one to side with Bella and actually say it out loud.

"Good, because I am too." I told them.

Both of my friends looked at me in surprise. "You believe Four now?" Jessie asked.

"I'm borderline." I admitted. "Bella has the belly and the paper, but I don't want to believe her. Four is trying to find evidence and I'm going to as well. I'm not letting go of the past four years of my life until I have solid evidence."

"Well, Jessie and I actually have a plan. We met up yesterday and talked about it." Christina said.

"Let me in on it."

"It requires a bit of stalking." Jessie began. "We need to spend a few days learning Bella's routine. Where she lives, we don't know yet, but once we find out, we'll figure out what her usual schedule is. If we don't find evidence when she's not there, we'll just have to break in at night and see if she keeps the evidence with her."

I thought about the approach Jessie just laid out. It was risky, but worth a try. There was just one flaw.

"How are we supposed to watch her without her seeing us?" I inquired.

Christina seemed puzzled but Jessie found an answer immediately.

"Bella doesn't know me, Mike, and the other initiates. I could get the more trustworthy ones to help us out." She suggested.

I looked at my two friends and nodded.

"It sounds like a plan."

I know it was a little short, but I just couldn't figure out how to continue it. The next chapter will be a few days later, just to speed things up a bit. I'm going to try and update in a few days since I have the time.

To Sam (Guest): Why did the last chapter disappoint you? Was it just really bad or did you not like what happened? Please let me know. I want my readers to be happy.

Love you losers! :P
