So. Here we are again. And yes, here's a little bit of Finnick for you guys. :D Wooh! Week off from College so I might have a couple more updates for you in the next week or so.

I had watched him get his head torn off by lizard mutts in the capitol tunnels, and yet Finnick Odair was stood in front me, confidently poised in the archway, the nervousness clear in his eyes as he recognised our presence in Rivendell.

"Katniss?" His voice wavered as he spoke.

I simply nodded slightly, not trusting my own words. The last words I had heard him speak had been 'Take care of my son', as he fought off the mutts, created by the capital monsters, before he gave up fighting, dropped his trident and allowed the mutts to tear into him.

I felt Peeta tense up beside me and the hold he had on my hand tightened significantly. I squeezed his hand in return and felt him relax quickly feeling the small smile break through my features before schooling my face again.

"So I see you've met before?" I heard Elrond say from across the circular balcony. I turned to him and nodded, stronger this time and saw that he had been watching the scene intently and, most probably, knew exactly was running through all 3 of our minds.

"Yes. Katniss and Peeta here are from the world I originated from, sir. Panem. Though, the means, by which they came here, are a matter I would wish to know, since, if they had died, their memories of me would have been shattered." Since when did the great Finnick Odair refer to anyone as sir? This place had clearly changed him somewhat, since his way off speaking had changed significantly. "And the small matter of their race now, signifies that they had been here for at least 8 to 9 months, since, from my knowledge, the change from human to dwarf, could not be instantaneous in the event of anything other than death. Tell me Katniss, what happened to cause you to end up here?"

I paused for a moment and just observed. Finnick narrowed his eyes slightly at me and smirked his signature smirk, indicating he knew more than he was giving away. Thinking for a moment, I responded.

"What happened Finn? Has being in Rivendell for 5 years tamed you?" I exclaimed, putting emphasis on the old nickname we gave him and feigning horror. I saw the grin on his face and the mischief behind it. Yes, definitely the same Finnick we knew.

"Not at all Fireball. No-one and nothing can tame me. You, of all people, should know that." His voice became deeper as he spoke and I shook my head at the suggestive tone in his voice that was something I had come accustomed to, when he was around. "You didn't answer my question, anyway." I turned my head to Peeta who nodded, telling me he was fine with me telling Finnick how we arrived here.

"We came here, initially looking for my father. Whom, by the way, we found, not long after we had arrived, but didn't know it until a few days ago, and we joined the Thorin's company as they travel across Middle Earth, eventually ending up here." I explained and saw that Finnick was listening intently to my story, clearly very interested in what I had to say.

A silence fell over the 4 of us for a while until the clattering of pans was heard from the dining hall and a song broke out over the dinner table. Elrond excused himself and Peeta decided to leave, trusting that I would be safe with Finnick around, as he left to join in the song with the dwarves. I was left with Finnick as we stood for a while in silence. The same old grin spread over his features and we both laughed for a minute or two as we listened to the song Bofur was singing. Not as foul as the ones myself and Peeta had heard in Ered Luin, but still not as 'clean' as those from back in District 12. When Finnick and I had calmed, I remembered something that Elrond had mentioned.

"Finnick?" He 'hm?'ed in response. "Are you the son of Poseidon I heard Elrond mention?" I knew it was not the best phrasing of the question, but I had no idea how else to ask. Finnick waited a beat before answering.

"So I am told, yes, thought the 'powers' that I have been trained to use in the past 5 years are a little strange, but I am coping with them. My trident, however, is the easiest part of the title. As you know, it's my signature weapon." His eyes seemed to glaze over for a moment before he walked past me and leaned on the railing of the balcony and simply looked over Rivendell and the ocean with longing. "How is Annie? And my son?" He turned to look at me, standing up straight again and adopting the perfect posture that was clearly trained into him in Rivendell.

I smiled at him. "Annie and you're son are perfectly fine, Finnick. Annie is raising a beautiful baby boy. I'd even go as far as to say that he is taking after his father in that he has all the ladies wrapped around his little finger." I saw the look of pride in Finnick's eyes as I spoke of his son. "She named him Kai, you know?" I saw his eyes light up and his smile become even bigger, if that was even possible. "She mentioned that Kai was your favourite choice for your son's name."

"Annie and I had talked when we were younger about what we would call our children if we were to have any. Annie had always thought that, should she have a baby girl, she would call her Sera, and for a boy, Oscar. We spent hours pouring over hundreds of different options for names and never came up with any conclusions." A single tear ran down his face as he spoke so I did the most uncharacteristic thing I knew and wrapped my arms around his neck and whispered in his ear.

"I know that both Annie and baby Kai love you so much Finnick." Before pulling back and smiling brightly at a man I had come to admire in the short time I had known him in Panem, watching him smile back as he thought of his family.

So there we go. :) Introduced Finnick into the story. Let me know if you guys think he should go with the dwarves or stay in Rivendell with the elves yeah?
