A/N (08.27.14): This chapter has been re-edited to be more to my liking and hopefully more in character. Not many huge changes with the basic structure, so that still may seem basic. But Raven is a LOT better.

Second chapter is up already! I know, I'm surprised too. So now the story is going to begin. Isn't that just so exciting for all of you? Are you hyperventilating right now wanting to finish reading what I have to say so you can read the real story? Or are you just thinking how stupid and pointless it is right now to just keep talking to you about how great I think this story is and that you'll enjoy it? Hmmm…okay. I'll let you all read the story now.

Disclaimer: I do not own the Teen Titans…there. Now you've all made me really sad. Happy now?

Chapter 1: Meeting

"Give me all your money!" the robber shouted to the woman behind the counter as he held a gun to her head, thrusting a bag into her manicured hands. The woman was shaking terribly and opened the cash register as quickly as she could, piling in money as the thief smiled greedily. When there was no money left, the man grabbed the bag and started walking toward the door. He was still facing her though; the gun still pointed to scare her.

"Don't call the cops," he warned, "or i'll come back for you and kill you in cold blood when I break out of jail."

"Now you wouldn't do that," a new voice said from the door. The man turned his attention and the gun from the cashier to the new presence.

"It's you," The man growled, "Traffic light boy from Gotham. I've heard all about you. Aren't you supposed to be working with the Bat?"

At this remark, the boy smirked despite the pained expression in his eyes that was hidden beneath his mask. The man gave a chuckle at he presumed was the boy's feign confidence before aiming his gun at him.

"I'd get out of the way if I were you Traffic Light," he said, ready to pull the trigger. The boy quickly, in the blink of an eye, dashed up to the man. The thief fired a shot at him, but the boy leapt to the side before continuing forward and grabbing the gun away, twisting the thief's hand in the process. The man stood dumbfounded before being punched in the face. He fell backwards to the ground and the boy stood over him, a scowl on his face.

"The name's Robin," he said, "and I work alone."

The man looked up at him, dazed, as he tried to focus and lift his head. Instead though, his head fell to the ground with a hard bang, going unconscious.

"Too easy," Robin said as he grabbed the man up and put him outside the store and tied to a pole, knowing the cops would find him here. He glanced back into the store through the doorway, giving a small wave to the cashier. "He's tied up out here, you should be just fine."

"T-t-thank you. Thank you so much," the woman said as she looked him over. "By any chance, what that man said… aren't you from Gotham? Yet you're here iin Jump."

Robin merely grinned. "I work alone now like I said. This is my new town."

With that, he was out the door and climbing up on top of a nearby tall building. He sat on the edge of the roof once he reached it and looked out onto the vast city. It was smaller, but much nicer then Gotham. Gotham had been a horrible dreary place he had protected and dealt with for long enough. It was time for change; change away from Batman. It was time for him to be the leader and not a mere sidekick. He was ready. He sat and looked on for a while, taking everything in. The ocean was right nearby, the crisp breeze from it going through his spiked up jet-black hair. He was going to learn things fast if he was going to protect innocent little Jump City now.

After about twenty minutes of this he felt satisfied and refreshed. He jumped from the building, pulling out grappling hook and swinging down to the dark streets below. It was about 8:00 o'clock at night, and darkness begin to cast its' shadow. The sidewalk was clear of people so he didn't stand out in his red, yellow, and green uniform.

Suddenly talking could be heard and Robin started to lighten his feet on the concrete below him. He reached the corner when he saw who was behind the talking. It was a girl in all pink: pink pants, pink tight tank top, and even pink ballet flats. She had shoulder length blonde hair and a pink headband in it. There was a…boy…slash spider right next to her. He (at least he thought it was a boy?) had a spider for a head and the rest was just a regular human body. The eight gray spider legs were as long as his whole body so his legs didn't touch the ground and that the spider legs did all the walking for him. They were right outside a jewelry store.

Robin didn't even think that they had the right to be called villains. Compared to Gotham's baddies, this would most likely be a cakewalk.

"Alright you two-" Robin started, but was interrupted when another person joined the scene and cut him off. He just stood there, watching from the sidelines in the shadows of the alley he stood in, surprised and quiet.

"You have got to be kidding me," the new person said, approaching the crooks, her face and body shielded with a long, flowing blue cloak. "Drop what you've stolen."

"I don't think so you little… little… GOTH GIRL!" the blonde girl shouted. The girl, as Robin learned the person was, didn't even look fazed as she merely stood still, cloak slightly waving in the wind. "Fang and I, the beautiful Kitten, won't be bullied by someone with such terrible taste in clothing!"

The cloaked girl that had stood so still before suddenly moved quickly, her feet no longer touching the ground as she levitated into the air. Robin's eyes widened.

"Azarath Metrion Zinthos," the girl chanted and her eyes turned white and a black aura surrounded her hands. She blasted it at the two and the girl shrieked as it made contact quickly, throwing her backwards. Fang got up to protect his girl and went to attack the cloaked one.

"You do that again to Kitten and you'll be stuck in a web for the rest of your pitiful life!" Fang cried angrily. The cloaked girl merely responded with a glowing car to the crook's face she'd flung at him. The spider boy, after being stuck, flipped himself over the car and agily went at the girl. Caught off guard with his sudden attack and unable to react, he jumped on top of her, spider legs keeping her down as he sneered above her. Robin didn't waste anymore time in keeping a low profile.

"Hyaah!" he cried as he threw two explosive disks at Fang from behind. Fang looked back from the girl he had trapped beneath him to see this, all 8 eyes widening as he was struck and flew back in pain from the explosiion. Robin ran up beside the girl as she pushed herself up to sit, crouching beside her.

"You okay?"

She didn't even look in his direction as she stood herself up and rubbed at one of her wrists soothingly, responding flatly, "Just fine." With that she levitated away from him as Fang mangaged to stand himself back up with the help of a whiny Kitten.

"Get her Fangy, get her!"

Before Robin could follow the cloaked girl, she was webbed down quickly, trapped flat against the ground once again. She squirmed and grit her teeth together slightly in frustration.

"Azarath Metrion Zin-" before she could finish the words she'd first spoken, her mouth was also webbed, silencing her. She couldn't move.

Kitten smiled when she saw the girl was down and defenseless for now. She quickly got up from where she had been watching and rushed over to Fang and the girl with glee.

"Oh Fang you're so amazing! Now can I hit her? Please?" Kitten asked her sweetly as she hugged him tightly.

"Sure thing, babe."

Kitten purred approvingly and walked over to the still-squirming girl. She bent down next to her, raising and hand to strike. Robin's eyes narrow. Just as she was about to make contact with the webbed-down girl, he grabbed Kitten's wrist and flung her off to the side, quickly grabbing out his bo-staff from the utility belt around his waist, eyes switching from Fang to the now fallen and shocked Kitten as he stood in front of the mysterious cloaked girl, protecting her.

"Hey, ugly," Robin spat out, the crooks staring right back at him, "I suggest you get out of here and leave her alone if you want your spider-head staying where it is."

"I don't need any help. I have everything under control," The girl said as she squirmed and twitched to get her hands free. Robin took a glance over his shoulder to look down at her, face doubtful.

"Sure looks like it," he said with a chuckle.

With that being said he looked back ahead and charged at the two – dare he say it, villains. Immediately the spider boy went in front to defend Kitten, but Robin whacked him back with great force, making him ram into a building. Kitten gasped and glared at Robin.

"How dare you hurt my Fangy-poo! You'll pay for that…" Kitten seethed.

"Dealing with you should be easy, Princess," Robin sneered, emphasizing on the last part. Kitten huffed at him and put her hands up.

"I have sharp manicured nails and I know how to use them!"

Robin just raised an eyebrow before lunging forward.

She was on the floor and shaking in a matter of seconds.

The cops came shortly after the scene and loaded Fang and Kitten into their police car. As that was being taken care, he quickly went to the girl who was still tied up. Robin took out a bird-a-rang and used one of its sharp ends to cut the webbing and free her. It worked like a charm. She quickly got up without so much as a thank you and started to walk away. Robin watched her, awestruck. He finally snapped out of it and followed her.

"Hey!" he called out. The girl stopped in her tracks, but still did not turn around to look at him, so Robin walked up in front of her so now they were face-to-face for the first time. Both looked the other over.

Robin looked at the girl in front of him with deep interest. He had never seen such a person in all his life.

The girl looked about to be the same age as him, and the same height give or take maybe an inch or two shorter. Her complexion was very pale, like a porecelin dolls, but fit against her short violet hair. Her eyes… for being the only thing Robin could see beneath her raised hood, they were captivating. Stunning even. They were a deep amethyst and beautiful. Right above them on her forehead was a red gem of some sort. She wore a dark blue, flowing cloak, concealing her entire body from the outside world. But it was opened slightly and he could see a black, long sleeved leotard. Around her thin waste was a yellow belt with red circled gems all around it. She also had similar separate red gems to support her outfit the backside of her hands and to keep her cloak together. To complete her look there were matching blue boots on her feet that went ankle high.

"Hi," Robin said again, "My name's Robin, sorry for stealing the spotlight back there, I suppose. You were amazing."

He extended his hand, hoping that she would take it. She just stared at it for a while though, hesitant, as if wondering if it was the right thing for her to do. But finally, her hand came out from beneath the cloak and he was gripping her small hand in his larger one.

"Raven," she told him simply, voice that familiar monotone, "Back there… I'm sorry. I did need your help, I guess. I'm just not the 'damsel in distress' type." She admitted shyly, "and…thank you."

Robin smiled at her. She then took her hand back, retreating beneath her cloak.

"What brings you here to Jump City?" Raven inquired, trying to change the topic, "I've never see you before. You seem more of a big city hero type."

Robin sighed, "I was, decided that wasn't the life for me. So I made a change and went to help in a city that would need me more, that hasn't really had protection or already. But I guess it does, after seeing you tonight."

"I wouldn't say that," Raven whispered, glancing away and down the street. "I don't live here, this isn't permanent. I was just passing through."

Robin's smile faltered. "Where are you headed?"

She kept her eyes down the street, before peering up and staring into the night sky, up at the crescent moon that'd formed. "I don't know yet."

Robin didn't know why, but he didn't want her to go. She was different, he'd seen the power she had, the potential in her that would work hand in hand with his own drive. But she seemed so sad…

"You're not like other girls, are you?" he whispered suddenly, and he was surprised that the question had slipped through his thoughts and past his lips. Raven suddenly looked at him.

"What gave it away – the abnormal eyes or the glowing projectiles?" She asked wittily. He grinned at the sarcasm. "But, really, define normal?" she challenged.

"Good point," Robin admited. She gave him a small nod and looked behind her where she had been about to leave.

"Well, I need to be going," Raven started, about to turn around. Robin then suddenly stopped her by grasping her thin wrist in his hand instinctivly, hoping to talk t her. She seemed stunned by his sudden action.

"Take… your hand… off me," She said between gritted teeth. She started to shake slightly, and Robin noticed this.

"Raven, I… I just wanted to talk…" he began, unsure of what to say now. Her strong reaction surprised him.

"Please let go of me," she told him forcefully. He could hear something in her voice he didn't expect to – fear. He did what she had instructed and let go of her gently, worry in his eyes. She let out a sigh of relief.

"Thank you for listening," Raven thanked him quietly, eyes downcast.

"Raven, I'm really sorry. But, please hear me out," Robin asked hesitantly, watching her for any reactions. Her eyes glanced upwards to meet his masked ones and he exhaled. "I came here to Jump to try and make a name for myself. Alone. But, after seeing you, I feel like… maybe working alone isn't what I should be doing."

She stared at him for a couple of seconds. Could she trust him? Was this all just a joke to take advantage of her? To use her powers in some sick and twisted way? But she saw the look of sincerity on his face and his smile and she believed him. After all, he did save her. He couldn't be all that bad.

"Well… maybe we can talk. Just for a little," she reasoned.

"Friends then?" Robin asked with a smile.

"That's moving a little too fast, don't you think?" Raven remarked, her sarcasm heavy. Robin wouldn't mind getting use to the attitude in the least. "Wel'll see, Boy Blunder."

"Boy Blunder? C'mon now, that's not cool," he said with a slightly irritated look, "how are people supposed to take me seriously if that were to catch on?"

"I guess that's your problem, not mine," Raven said indifferently, the corners of her mouth slightly turning up in the tiniest of smiles. Robin couldn't help but grin back then. It was the first he'd seen her genuinly show any emotion to him, and it filled him with a sense of pride.

"So, who wants to go first? We can grab a bite to eat, and I promise to pay if you tell me about you first," Robin bribed. Raven raised an eyebrow and looked over to him.

"Well aren't you a regular detective," she said airily. "… Deal."

Robin's smile widend. "I guess you could say that."
