The horrific noise of screams trapped behind closed mouths sounded out from the first circle, which included the Angel Elizabeth, as fingernails made their way through skin into soft flesh, blood dripping as those nails tore holes large enough to start pulling their own insides through, the sound of things both solid and wet hitting the floor making Dean gag and all the while terrified eyes looked for help that wasn't coming as under some unseen overwhelming power they continued to pull skin and flesh from their bones. A few screams broke free until tongues were ripped out by their own hands and discarded to the floor.
A couple of humans who had been stood in the first circle fell to the ground dead much quicker than the Angels and Demons would last and whoever the unfortunate soul stood behind them was took over pulling themselves apart in their place.
Dean closed his eyes and tried his best not to throw up, Sam wasn't faring much better as he felt bile rise in the back of his throat as the smell of blood assaulted his nose.
Castiel however didn't react, he paid no attention to the horror happening around them and instead concentrated solely on Bea, watching, waiting, searching for any change in expression, for any hint of regret.
A flash of a shadow mere millimetres from her face followed by a split second look of horror at what she saw before her and he knew he had his only chance to stop this massacre.
"Bea do you remember seeing the ocean for the first time?" he spoke "how it felt when it crashed over your feet? Do you remember how the sand felt beneath your toes?" his voice was soothing as though reminiscing with an old friend. Confused eyes turned to meet his almost loving stare "Do you remember the sounds of the birds in the trees outside your cabin? How you loved to feed them? I remember how happy you were when I gave you that dress, do you remember how happy it made you?"
Sam and Dean looked on, they weren't really sure what Cas's plan was but soon Sam's voice, soft as though talking to a wounded animal rather than the girl before them overflowing with raw power as Angels, demons and humans continued tearing themselves apart, said "Do you remember your first taste of ice cream Bea? How happy you were to drive the Impala the first time? Do you remember how you comforted me when I felt so alone?"
"Bea" Dean's deep voice called out over the noise "Do you remember the first time I kissed you? The first time you looked into my eyes and knew that I loved you?" his voice desperate now as the words fell from his lips.
An ear splitting scream came from Bea's mouth as the shadow now out of synch with her pained expression opened its own mouth in an unheard angry scream.
"You helped to bring me back from my darkness? Please Bea, let me bring you back too" Dean pleaded now his face a picture of desperation "Do you remember that you love me?"
The invisible force that had been holding them where they stood suddenly receded its power and they stumbled until they found their footing.
Dean righted himself quickly and moved to where Bea stood dazed and confused "Do you remember that you love me?" he asked again.
Bea pushed her shoulders stiffly forward as though trying to step out of someone's grasp and bent over at the waist leaving the shadow in her wake. Instantly the screaming and horror happening all around them stopped. Stumbling forward Bea fell onto her knees into the dirt struggling to catch her breath "Dean" she barely managed to choke out.
Behind her in the clearing the shadow grew to its full height, black thick liquid falling into the dirt then promptly moving to collect at the dark figures feet, the two trying to merge as a loud ringing noise began to sound out painfully while it worked desperately to fix itself back together.
Dean moved to kneel before Bea but his eyes were fixed in horror at what stood behind her.
"Dean" she said again making him finally look down into her serious face "you promised"
Somehow without realising he found he'd drawn the first blade and had it resting in his hand, it's sharp edge aimed towards her heart but he faltered looking deep into her beautiful blue eyes.
"I love you" he said his voice cracking as he felt her small hand encase his over the blade
"That's all that I'll ever need"
The darkness roared suddenly and moved its grotesque outstretched claws to reclaim its host as two hands joined together to push the first blade into Bea's heart.
The ground began to shake then crack as wind blew up from nowhere around them, the darkness reaching out claws in every direction trying to grasp onto something to ground itself but without its host it proved useless.
Dean grabbed Bea pulling her into his lap and Sam rushed over to help carry her away as the ground split open around the shadow, headstones falling into deep crevices that appeared.
Whatever power had been holding the surrounding Angels, demons and humans in place splintered and everywhere they began to move trying to make a quick exit. Demon smoke fell from mouths of broken bodies flying up into the night sky, Angels disappeared with a whoosh of unseen wings and humans fled into the woods, a lifetime of therapy awaiting them.
Castiel moved to stand between where Sam and Dean sat huddled around Bea's body and the darkness as they all watched on while the shadow fought to hold onto to anything but it was no use, whatever had opened the earth at its feet was drawing it down into the cracks determinedly, shadow hands and claws could do nothing as inch by inch it slowly vanished into the ground.
The wind died down suddenly and the earth stopped moving beneath their feet as silence descended over the graveyard, the only sound their heavy breathing.
Sam knelt up in front of his brother putting a hand on his shoulder and searching his face to check he was alright. Seeing no obvious injuries he looked around to see that they were alone.
"It's gone" he said relieved
"She's gone" Dean spoke looking down at the limp body cradled in his arms.
Sam sat back on his heels and moved his hand to Bea's small shoulder, her skin already cool under his fingertips "Bea" he whispered sadly as a tear ran down his face.
Dean held her body tight rocking her back and forward as tears began to fall.
"Not quite yet" Castiel said.
Standing over them he reached out his hands and a soft blue light began to emerge from Bea's body as Dean released his hold on her a little watching as the light moved to swirl towards Castiel's hands "Be at peace" he spoke affectionately.
Sam and Dean watched on in amazement.
"Is that...her soul?" Dean barely managed to ask, his voice close to breaking
"Yes" a small smile lay on Cas's face "Go now Bea. Be at peace"
The light glowed brighter for a moment then moved to hoover just before the boys, her boys. Tears fells down their faces as they watched the mesmerising light glow brightly before it rose up to heaven leaving them illuminated only by the moon and stars.
