A/N: First, Thank you EVERYONE for over 500 reviews. I am so happy and speechless this story got such a response. One other of my stories has made that 500 mark and it is a great feeling. Special thanks to readers who have reviewed recently and stuck by me for over 7 grueling years now:
StonexHeart, mooncutie11, eesanchez95, DBZloverPNK, and Theif King Akefia Bakura. This chapter is dedicated to you five.
And to all my new reviewers and followers, please enjoy. I love you all, from the guest reviewers i sadly can't communicate with, to those that do. Thank you, each and every one of you.
I'm simultaneously doing new chapters as well as updating old ones so this may take time to continue. As I did start this idea way back in 2007, it only seems fair to give it a little sprucing. Currently, I have updated the first 5 chapters of this story. I hope that makes things better, both for my personal self and readers. Also, another semester is starting, so school will certainly take up my time again. I'll try not to disappear. Promise. Your support is honestly what keeps me grounded here and excited to write about what i love. Check out for this story as always and others/new ones i may conjure.

Chapter 26: Betrayal
Slade drones were walking out of a facility, prize in hand, when a sudden bird-a-rang shot through the air and sliced part of one of their faces off. The robot's attention went to the six teens ahead.
"Tell Slade the Titans have a message for him," Robin said as he re-caught his bird-a-rang.
"Eat dirt!" Terra spat out, the levitating rocks she had floating above being shoved down upon the robots. It pummeled numbers of them to the ground with ease. Robin took the time to shout his infamous catchphrase.
"Titans, go!"
With that, the Titans went forward, the girls flying above the boys in their charge. Terra quickly went into action by levitating a rock beneath Robin for him to leap on, riding it forward before he jumped off to kick back a drone, taking out his bo-staff to run at the others. Starfire swooped down to his other side, eyes glowing green as she shot out her starbolt beams from them, effectively stopping a group of them.
"Terra, catch!" Raven called suddenly as she hurled a large boulder ten times her own size to the earth bender. Terra swiftly took control of it after Raven and swung it around her body, smashing a larger group near their end. The blonde smiled at her companion.
"Thanks a ton."
"Closer to two tons actually," Raven said cleverly. Suddenly a drone took a gun out and a red blast was shot at her. Barely in time she formed a shield with her hands before her, but the force still made her fly back. Seconds later, the same happened to Terra as she tumbled to the ground.
The two girls looked up, lying next to teach other on the ground, completely surrounded. They pushed themselves to sit up, but before any of their enemies could even move, Robin and Beast Boy were there in record time, throwing back the circle and plowing through once they made an opening, headed to the girls. Robin bent down to Raven.
"You okay?" he asked her.
The empath nodded quietly and took his outstretched hand, still never fully realizing whenever she was in immediate danger; he would rush to her aid. As he did this, Beast Boy was in gorilla form beside Terra, smashing each drone that came near their little quartet and flinging them into the forest area far off. Before long things were clear and he lifted up Terra into his arms, returning to a human-form.
"You saved me," she said with a small smile to the changeling. He blushed.
"Yeah, I know, that was cool."
Raven rolled her eyes slightly beneath her hood and looked up to Robin, smirking slightly as they ran away from the two and back into action.
"Promise me you'll never get like that," she commented, hands surrounding with black aura.
Robin shot her a look and shrugged as he ran ahead, calling behind him, "No promises!"
He met up with Cyborg who was blasting back drones one-by-one. Raven exhaled and simply shook her head, flying to help Starfire. If that was her biggest complaint in the midst of this battle, she had nothing to worry about.
"Excellent work, you've done very well. All your hard work is about to pay off. Tonight we strike, and by sunrise tomorrow…" Slade paused as he glanced back to look at his new apprentice, "the Titans will be annihilated."
"Terra, you have won the last slice of pizza tonight, congratulations!" Starfire cheered with a small laugh, everyone sitting around the main room having eaten their fill. "You have earned it ten fold!"
Robin smiled,."Though seriously Terra, great job tonight. Glad to have you on the team."
"And we are so joyed to have you as our friend!" Starfire chimed in again, her smile shining.
Raven smiled slightly at Terra as well. "Yeah, what they say." Terra smiled shyly back, rubbing her arm uncomfortably.
"Thanks guys, really, for everything. But you shouldn't… you know… I'm just doing my job. No big deal."
"Well it's a big deal to us," Beast Boy told her with a huge grin, eyetooth glinting. "Good friends don't come alone everyday, you know?"
Cyborg yawned and got up, walking to the main doors and pressing his hand to the keypad, lights shutting off. "Alright y'all, Titans Tower is locked up and I'm shutting down. Night." He stalked off down the hall,
"We should all get some sleep," Robin asserted, standing from the couch as he addressed them, "We may have stopped Slade tonight, but we need to figure out what he's planning tomorrow."
Raven and Starfire nodded as they followed their leader out the Main Room. Beast Boy hesitated before walking as well, glancing back to an unmoving Terra. He gave her a slight wave, green cheeks flushing red.
"Nighty night, Terra."
With that he turned away, the doors shutting behind the four Titans that'd left. Terra stood there in the room completely alone now, eyes sad.
"Yeah, see yah tomorrow…"
With that she made her own way down the hall and into her bedroom, opening up the PC on her table and taking a seat. She glanced around uneasily before rapidly typing onto it, eyes focused and trained on nothing else. When there was a knock on the door, her eyes widened and she finished quickly, slamming the laptop shut.
"Just a second," she called calmly as she went to grab the door. It slid open to reveal Beast Boy standing before her, smiling eagerly.
"Hi," he said, all smiles.
"Hi…" she responded, voice unsure. As the silence dragged on from that and all he could do was stare at her with hearts in his eyes, Terra cleared her throat, smile friendly. "Well, nice talking to yah."
This jogged Beast Boy from his stare-fest and he quickly pulled out something he'd been hiding behind his back the whole time. It was wrapped in newspaper sloppily as he held it out to her in one hand, slightly shaking.
"I kind of made something for you," he whispered. This caught Terra's attention.
"You did?" Beast Boy nodded to affirm this and she unwrapped the package, eyes widening as she saw the sparkling, heart shaped container. She opened the lid to see a mirror on the other side with a spot for her to put things in. "Beast Boy, it's… I don't know what to say," she breathed out.
"You could say… yes. Because I'm about to ask you out on a date," he said, his confident grin returning. Terra's eyes widened further.
"Oh wow," she continued to whisper, eyes unsure as she looked at him.
"Yeah, so wanna do something tomorrow night?" he asked hopefully.
"Tomorrow? I-I'm sorry, Beast Boy, I can't, I just can't," she stammered, panic rising in her voice. Without another word she turned and retreated back into her room, the door slamming in Beast Boy's face. He stood there stunned for a moment, rejected.
"A-Alright, maybe some other time?" When there was no response he made his way back down the hall, hunched over, holding in tears.
"Idiot, how could you mess that up!? All you had to do was…" he trailed off in thought at all of the possibilities, frowning at himself in the mirror. "Anything woulda been better then giving her a stupid glue covered box with sparkles and acting like a total goomer! Now she'll never go out with me…"
"Ahem."
Beast Boy looked around to see none other then his crush floating on a rock outside his window, and his eyes bulged. "How long have you been standing there?"
"Wanna go out?" she asked instead of answering him.
"Huh? Yeah! T-That's cool, but why didn't you just knock on my door?"
"Do you trust me?" Terra held her hand out to the changeling and he grinned, nodding.
"More than anyone I've ever met."
With that she hoisted him up on the boulder she stood on, taking them away from Titan Tower and to the outskirts of the city.
"What are you doing up so late?"
Raven stopped walking and turned around to see Robin in the doorway to his bedroom, raising an eyebrow.
"Can't sleep… wanted to make some tea to help," she explained, "and what's your excuse?"
"Couldn't sleep either, heard your footsteps outside my door," he responded, walking out from the doorway towards her. "Mind if I join you?"
"Go ahead," she told him, continuing to the Main Room with the Boy Wonder when he caught up beside her.
"Good," Robin said lightly. After a second of quiet in which Raven didn't expect him to say something, he continued, "Because I was hoping to talk to you."
At this Raven perked up. Any sleepiness she had been feeling had completely vanished with that last sentence. What could he possibly want to talk about? The elephant in the room that'd been their somewhat flirtatious yet completely innocent interactions? She didn't want to have to explain herself for allowing them to take place, and if anything, he initiated most things that'd eventually happened between them. Finally they entered the Main Room and walked to the kitchen, Raven finally responding.
"Oh? What about?" she said, keeping her voice its' normal soft, uninterested tone. She bent down to get the kettle out of the cupboard and one of her mugs, Robin leaning against the island as he spoke.
"I guess… our relationsh-"
Before Robin could utter another word he stopped, masked eyes widening. Raven pushed herself to stand back up, asking him for confirmation that she hadn't heard.
"Our what-" She gasped suddenly when she came face-to-face with a Slade drone. The kitchen was full of them, lined up and surrounded, standing along the countertops and peering down at the two teens. Raven's hand released the mug and it hit the ground, shattering to pieces. She didn't even blink. Robin swiftly came to her side, grabbing her arm lightly and standing close to her. He grit his teeth together.
"No," was all she could manage to breath out.
"When you said you wanted to go out, I didn't know you meant out of town," Beast Boy said.
Terra looked out upon jump from their spot, sighing in relief. "Looks cool doesn't it? I guess you've got to leave a place sometimes to really appreciate it… You hungry?"
"Always," he said with a grin.
Shortly after the two entered a small diner, pulling up stools at the bar and swinging on them as they faced each other.
"The usual, Pam," Terra told the older woman behind the counter. Beast Boy watched her walk away before he looked back to Terra.
"I'm guessing you've been here before."
"I've been everywhere before, I was quite the traveler remember before I became a Titan."
"So what's the coolest place you've ever been to?"
Terra frowned as she looked down into the spoon she was holding, watching her reflection as she responded, "I'm not sure… probably Titans' Tower," she admitted before glancing up to look at Beast Boy. "But there's plenty of cool stuff out here, too!"
The way she said she realized sounded weird – was she saying that as a fact, because she truly believed it? Or was she trying to reassure herself that there was more out there than what'd she'd come to be apart of in the Titans?
Before she could force herself to think further about it, pushed herself off the stool as Beast Boy had just begun digging into his piece of pie, dragging him with her, leaving nothing but a tip and his communicator behind.
"Beast Boy, come in Beast Boy!" Robin yelled into his communicator, "Beast Boy where are you, answer me!"
Before he could try further, the drones that filled the hallway shot at him from his hiding spot behind a large chunk of the ceiling that was demolished, and he had to roll out of the way, slipping his communicator back into his utility belt uselessly. He leapt down a level in a giant, gapping hole that'd been created by their guests and continued running to evade the red laser guns. When he finally met up with Starfire and Cyborg who were hiding behind a doorway and blasting drones down, he caught his breath and stood on the other side of the it from where they stood together.
"He's not responding," he reported to them.
Raven suddenly appeared beside Robin through a black portal, stepping next to him, eyes glaring. "And Terra's not in her room.
Robin raised an eyebrow. Cyborg spoke up, voice angry as he stopped blasting to look into the mainframe, leaving Starfire to shoot starbolts to the ever nearing drones.
"Someone wanna explain to me how 200 armed robots got past my security!?" As he said this, he tried inserting his finger into a memory slot hidden in the wall. The circuitry backfired on him, causing him to surge with pain and force pull back. "I can't even get into the system, we're locked out!"
"And they are too numerous to fight!" Starfire cried above the noise and shooting, pulling back her arms and hiding against the wall, pressing against it as she looked at Robin. "What should we do?"
"Fight anyway," Robin ordered, "Titans, go!"
"Terra… is everything okay?"
She looked up at Beast Boy who was standing beside her where she sat on a bench in the amusement park she'd taken him to. She smiled in a reassuring manner. "Totally, what makes you –"
"Because I'm having fun, and I really want you to have fun. But you know, if you're not…"
"Beast Boy, you're my definition of fun," she assured him; smile widening as she nudged his elbow, "C'mon, lets ride some rides."
"Don't give up!" Robin exclaimed, jumping from one drone to the next without stopping, his bo-staff digging into one after the other. His anger was rising, nothing but rage consuming him. This was his home; their home. To allow such a travesty to happen here was all too much. He felt responsible, and they didn't even know how this had come to pass. But as leader, he knew the blame fell on his shoulders, and with each punch, he tried to redeem himself and win back his own sense of self confidence that they hadn't been out-beat.
"Robin!"
He knew that voice, but he couldn't bear to look at her right now, let alone even acknowledge her and speak. His anger was off the charts, his thoughts consumed with nothing but having the enemies exit the tower by his own bare hands.
"Robin!"
This time she yelled and landed right in front of him, kicking down an enemy and standing upon it, halting Robin for a moment. She grasped him by his arms and dug her nails slightly into him, making him cringe.
"You have to get it together, your emotions, this isn't healthy. Not in the least. You have to control your rage," she insisted, eyes meaningful in their gaze. "You have to realize we might not be able to –"
"That isn't even a possibility in my mind that we aren't able to defeat them," he muttered, voice almost getting lost among the loud blasts and explosions taking place all around them. Raven threw a hand up to slice through some drones that tried attacking Robin from behind, as the Boy wonder tossed up some electric disks and short circuited some behind Raven. He instead this time, grabbed her arms and swung them to be hidden behind a large chunk of wall that once belonged to Starfire's wall, looking at Raven, voice authoritative. "We will win this, we will get our house back, and we will figure out how this happened. Things will go back to normal. I promise."
Without another word, Raven slowly nodded her head, every part of her believing the words her leader spoke.
"So what made you change your mind? About going out with me?" Beast Boy asked Terra as they sat next to each other in a Ferris wheel on the park grounds. Terra looked over at him with a small smile, eyes down casting.
"Because, out of all the things I could have done tonight, I realized all I wanted to do was spend time with you," she whispered.
"I guess lucky for me you didn't have other plans," he joked. Her smile fell as she looked away from him completely, looking out at the ground below.
"Beast Boy, if you knew something bad about me, would you still be my friend?"
"Of course, Terra," Beast Boy said softly, leaning in towards her. She turned around to look at him, eyes wavering as she, too, leaned closer, eyes shutting. Beast Boy whispered to her, his breath tingling her lips, "No matter how horrible, I promise."
"Hello Terra," a sudden voice from the other side of the cart spoke, lurking in the shadows. Before the two could move further they pulled apart to look back, both eyes widening at whom they saw approaching. "Remember me?"
Slade grabbed Beast Boy and flung him away, the impact of the changeling hitting his back against the door to it sending it off its' hinges. Slade looked back to a speechless Terra. "I have plans for you Terra, did you really think you and your little boyfriend could just run away?"
"Let her go!"
Beast Boy flung himself at the masked man as he morphed into a Velociraptor, forcing them out of the Ferris wheel cart they'd been in and onto the roof of another one as it continued to rotate around. Terra ran to the opened door to look at the two fighting, eyes wide.
"Terra run!" Beast Boy called as he wrestled with Slade.
"Stay where you are child…" the villain saw the anger and pure confusion in the changeling's eyes and sneered, "What, she didn't tell you? I thought you two were close."
Slade threw Beast Boy off with a bo-staff and he changed into a tiger, leaping onto another cart rooftop. They circled each other, when before anyone did anything, the ground began to shake, and both of them looked up to see Terra floating on a rock, arms spread wide as she cried out, using a great deal of force as she took down the Ferris wheel, watching it sink into the ground.
"Terra, no!" Slade shouted angrily. Beast Boy swiftly changed into a bird and flew up to meet Terra. She landed the rock quickly and shakily on the ground below, Beast Boy grabbing her arm and leading them to a House of Mirrors to hide in. Unbeknownst to the two, they weren't alone as they went.
After a while of running through the maze, they came to a large circular opening and caught their breath, Beast Boy looking to Terra earnestly.
"We have to go back to the Tower and –"
"Beast Boy," she whispered, "I'm not going back. I can't."
"What?" he asked incredulously, "Why can't you?"
"Because she isn't your friend… she's my apprentice."
Slade suddenly appeared in the reflection of mirrors behind her. Beast Boy's eyes widened and then turned to slits. "No!"
"The girl you knew was an illusion, a fantasy. In reality, she's been working for me. I found her; I trained her to control her impressive powers. And then I sent her to destroy your team from the inside out." Slade revealed.
"That's a lie!" Beast Boy punched mirror after mirror hat held Slade's face, taking out all his anger and unleashing it. Nothing could compare to the pain in his heart at that moment, each mirror he shattered and cracked added another chink in, unbelieving. "Terra would never!"
"Beast Boy… it's the truth."
The changeling turned around to see Terra standing in front of Slade.
"Why," he whispered, pain crossing his face.
"Because you could never give her what she needed," Slade hissed back. Beast Boy's body shook with anger as he lunged at Slade, changing into a tiger lightning fast, only to be blasted down by a red laser in the blink of an eye. Slade stood looming over his body, Terra behind him, horrified, as Slade pointed the gun to him once more to give a finishing blow. Terra's fists clenched.
"I won't let you hurt my friend!"
"Dear child, you don't have any friends…"
This sent Terra running away, eyes filling with tears as she saw her reflection in every mirror she passed. Her thoughts roamed to that of the rest of the team – cyborg, Starfire, Raven, and Robin. She'd left them all for dead, she'd thought maybe things wouldn't have turned out this way. And Beast Boy…
"I'm sorry, Beast Boy," she whispered, tears trailing down her cheeks, "I'm so sorry…" she collapsed to her knees on the ground, fists clenched and pressing into it. She looked up when a shadow crossed her and she saw Beast Boy. She reached out to him, eyes pleading. He turned his head away from her outstretched hand and glared, eyes cold as ice. "Slade was right, you don't have any friends."
With that he completely turned his back on her, staring at the ground in complete and utter pain. When he turned back around, her and Slade were nowhere to be seen.
"Well, looks like we won," Cyborg muttered.
"Then why does it not feel like a victory?" Starfire whispered sadly.
"I knew it, I knew it. We never should have trusted her," Raven chided herself, looking at everyone.
"But we did, we all did," Robin reasoned, looking at Raven with a soft expression to try and ease her. A sound was heard from Cyborg's arm and everyone turned to look at it, hopeful.
"I've regained access to the computer. Security codes and encryptions have all been reset," he told them as a trifle of good news, yet nobody showed any change in demeanor.
"All enemy surveillance technology has been located and destroyed as well," Starfire added, looking to Robin.
"The problem is Terra gave Slade more then just secret codes and hidden cameras, she gave him us," she murmured, hands resting on the small chunk of the sectional couch that was left. "Our flaws, our weaknesses… everything he'd ever need to know."
"It doesn't matter now," Robin said, hands on his hips. "When Slade makes his next move, we'll be ready."
"And Beast Boy?" Cyborg brought up?
"He will be alright?" Starfire inquired, worry in her eyes.
Robin nodded, "He just needs a little time."
Cyborg and Starfire nodded, walking towards the Main Room doors to begin clean up in a section of the Tower. Robin and Raven looked at each other, a sigh escaping both of their lips. Nothing could be said anymore, things were much bigger then either of them or any thoughts that had been on their mind before this had begun.
