Maybe this night out will help open up Jacob's mind a bit. Maybe he'll be more open to the idea that I've actually changed. Maybe telling him about Paul and I was out of the plan for now. But Jacob should come around. He has to.
Leah jumped off the couch. "So what are we doing tonight?"
Jacob turned his head to look at me. "This was your idea, Bells. What do you have planned?"
Everyone stared at me, immediately putting me under pressure. I had to think of something quickly. I thought it was just going to be Jacob and I. But once again, these damn werewolves and their super hearing have to ruin everything.
I stood there idly, all of their eyes on me. "Okay," I began. "Jared, Quil, get a keg of moonshine. Then meet us at the beach."
Both of them smiled at me widely, saluting me. "Yes, ma'am!" They said in unison before they took off running out the door.
"Swan, what are you thinking?" Leah said, crossing her arms. She stared at me like she could see right through my soul. I know that the moonshine might have been a bad idea, but why the hell not?
"What I'm thinking is that we're going to have fun playing some drinking games." I grinned.
"You're a fucking dumbass," She laughed. "all of us can down more than you."
"Bells, my dad's moon shine is strong as hell." Jacob added, grabbing my arm to get my attention. He always grabbed me whenever I said something stupid. I looked over my shoulder, shooting Paul a look. He growled.
"That's why she should only drink three quarters less than we do." Paul said, prying me away from Jacob's hold.
"Of course you'd think that's a good idea, Paul." Jacob hissed through his teeth.
"What the fuck is that supposed to mean, Black?" Paul questioned, stepping in front of me.
Oh shit. They haven't even had moonshine yet and they're already at each other's throats. I pressed my hand against Jacob's chest, slightly applying pressure. He always listened to me when I told him to stop.
"I think Paul's idea is a good one, Jake." I interjected. I looked over at Leah, pleading with her to help me out. She kept smiling at me, watching my plan burn up. But she rolled her eyes, nodding at my plea.
"Black, Paul's right. Just give her half a shot every time we drink two. Plus you know she won't drink that much. She's a good girl." Leah smirked.
I put my hands on my hips. "Right." I retorted. Has she forgotten what I've been doing the past couple of months?
"Swan, I'm just saying that we've done more shit than you, okay? So that basically means you're not getting hammered right away."
"Wait, isn't the whole point of drinking games to get drunk?" I asked her sarcastically. Hold up, I'm actually voluntarily going to get drunk with them. Shit, I hope my big mouth doesn't betray me.
I shook my head, trying to get my sanity back.
"Swan..." Leah touched my shoulder. "are you okay?"
Maybe I shook my head harder than I thought.
I nodded at her, smiling reassuringly. I looked over at Jacob and Paul, whom both stared at each other like they were ready to kill. I was about to say something when Jared and Quil came bouncing through the threshold. Quil placed the keg down at the door step.
"I thought you guys were going to be at the beach by now." Jared stated, walking over to flank Jacob's side.
"Black here thinks that this could be a horrible idea for Bella." Paul spat through his teeth.
Quil went to flank Jacob's other side, slapping a hand on his shoulder. "Come on, Jake, we'll be there looking out for her."
"See?" I pointed out. "And you even said I could trust them with my life."
Jacob ran a hand over his face. "Yeah, okay." He agreed. "Fine. Let's go."
I smiled triumphantly. We started walking to the beach. The entire way there, Jacob was glued to my side. He kept babbling on and on about something that I wasn't particularly interested in listening to. I looked over my shoulder. Paul, Jared, and Leah were all having a deep conversation about something. They weren't smiling. I mean, it makes sense. Paul can't be a boyfriend to his girlfriend because of his girlfriend's over-protective best friend. Me being the girlfriend, Paul being the boyfriend, and the girlfriend's over-protective best friend being Jacob.
Once we arrived at the beach, Quil set the keg down next to some logs. The sun was already setting. Jacob sat next to me, uncomfortably close. When everyone took their seats, we began.
"So who's going to start?" I asked.
"I will!" Jared volunteered enthusiastically, raising his hand.
Leah poured moonshine into the red plastic cups that she brought along. She handed everyone a cup. Mine was significantly lighter than the others.
Jared smiled at everyone, holding his moonshine up as if he were giving a toast. "Never have I ever been in handcuffs!"
"Fuck me." Paul and Quil muttered at the same time. They took their shot.
"You jackass, you said you'd never bring that night up!" Quil shouted at Jared.
Jacob laughed. "I have to hear about this."
Quil closed his eyes, sighing. Reluctantly, he began. "So I met this hot chick at the bar one night. She came back to my place. This chick was kinky as fuck. Anyway, when I woke up the next morning, she was gone but I was still handcuffed to the bed. Naked. I didn't want to break the bed, but I also could pry my wrist from the handcuff without breaking something. So I had to shout to this dumbass," Quil nodded in Jared's direction. "to come help a brother out. Shouted loud enough for him to hear, because he lives the closest to me, but quiet enough so that you other fuckers don't come in to see me naked, handcuffed to the bed."
"Okay, shut up now. That shit was embarrassing." Quil looked away. "Anyway, it's my turn. Never have I ever been fooling around in the car, and accidentally honked the horn."
Jared and Paul drank to that one. I kind of already guessed that Paul would be drinking to all the never-have-I-evers that involved sex. I know that Paul used to be a manwhore, but it still made me feel sick that he's been fooling around with so many girls before me.
It was Paul's turn now. Oh God, this was not going to be good. "Never have I ever..." Paul stared straight at me. "like about being a virgin." Oh that son of a bitch! This was the worst time to bring it up!
Defeated, I took a sip of my shot. It burned. Jacob's eyes widened. "Bella, you're not a virgin?"
"Lost it when I was nineteen." I informed them. Jared and Leah snapped their heads in my direction. They probably thought I lost my virginity to Paul. "
"Please tell me you didn't lose it to that bloodsucker." Leah begged, a look of utter disgust on her face.
"No!" I shouted, almost too quickly. "He didn't even like to kiss me." I looked down. "I kind of lost it to this guy I met over the summer when I went to see my mom." I felt Paul's eyes burn into me. I know that he wants to know more about it, but I can't tell everyone. There's really nothing to tell. My mom had a party, I had a littel too much to drink, and he was there. "So who's turn is it now?"
After an hour of the game, I had a combined total of six shots. By the third shot, I could already feel it affecting me. Okay, so maybe moonshine wasn't the greatest alcoholic drink to consume...even the others were buzzed. Leah was having a little too much fun with this. Paul, Quil, and Jared drink the most out of all of us. And I couldn't sit upright by myself.
"Okay, okay!" Leah shouted. "I ha...have one, okay. Never have I...mmm...ever imprinted on someone." She grinned, widely.
Oh shit. I immediately darted my eyes to Paul. I could tell he wasn't even thinking. I tried to get up and attack him or something, but he already drink from his cup.
"When did you imprint, Lahote?" Jacob asked.
Leah and I looked at each other. Oh, she knew she fucked up. I could tell by the look on her face that whatever happens next, won't be good.
Jared stood up, trying to change the subject. "Guys, I really think we should eat now."
"No, not until Paul, here, tells us who the lucky girl is."
No. Jacob. You do not want to know. You are the last person in the world who should know. Ugh, this was going to be a train wreck.
"Jake, just leave him alone." I said.
"I want to know, too." Quil piped in. Fuck.
Jacob stared over me to look at Paul, who was sitting on my other side. Suddenly, Jacob's eyes widened. "You fucker! Tell me you didn't imprint on my Bella!"
Leah pulled me out of the way, just in time for Jacob to jump on Paul. Quil and Jared got up, restraining Jacob.
"She's not your Bella, shithead." Paul sneered. "Can't you tell she doesn't love you that way?"
Jacob tried to shrug off Quil and Jared's grasp. "So it's true, then!"
Paul narrowed his eyes. "No! You fuckhead, I don't need to tell you!"
"You bet your fucking ass you do!"
"No I fucking do not."
"You-you stay away from Bella. You can't have her!"
"I didn't fucking imprint on Bella!" Paul shouted, standing up. "No! I imprinted on someone else. You know her. You'll be a hell of a lot more pissed about who I imprinted on."
"Yeah?" Jacob challenged. "Try me."
Paul glared at him. The words he said next were slow, haunting. "Your sister."
And at that exact moment, it felt like everything stopped. Jacob stopped moving. Jared and Quil looked at each other in shock. Leah's grip around my arm loosened, and I couldn't stop staring at Paul.
No one knew what to say.
