"So Rachel, how did you and my finny meet? He seems to keep everything close to his chest, I have to rely on Kurt to tell me everything."

"Ermm.. we met because we had an incident which involved a slushie, which meant I needed to borrow a shirt off of Finn."

"Carole! Rachel's being nice about it, Finn threw his slushie at her!"

Carole admonishes Finn, whilst he tries to defend himself.

"if I may speak up, that isn't the case, we just bumped into each other and Finn happened to be holding a slushie, it was equally my fault, I was just happy he was chivalrous and offered me his letterman when I felt insecure afterwards, he didn't plan to do it, it was purely accidental."

Burt was the next to speak, not quite understanding.

"Why would you feel insecure Rachel?"

"Well, I haven't told almost the whole student population about my burn." She says lifting her arm as way of explanation. "Most of them don't even know I am a peer so it's quite easy not to be questioned, I couldn't have dealt with the attention it would have brought."

Finn reached under the table and laced his fingers with Rachel's giving her hand a reassuring squeeze, which she returned with a grateful smile.

"Yeah, Rachel isn't one for attention, even though I must have told her a thousand times that if she were confident enough she could be lead in glee and knock Mercedes off of her self proclaimed pedestal."

Rachel was soon to shake her head to Kurt's words, instantly understanding that Kurt was in no way exaggerating about how often this conversation must arise between the best friends. Carole understood that this was not a topic that should be stayed on for very long.

"How is glee club going now-a-days? I saw you guys at sectionals when you won, what's been going on lately?"

Rachel sent a thankful smile to Carole.

"Well, right now we're just focusing on regionals right now, choosing songs and everything."

"And we need one more member since matt left, so we've all got our fingers crossed someone will sign up or I don't know what we're going to do."

"I can join."

Four pairs of eyes focused onto Finn.

"Finn, you don't have to do that, you have so much stuff going on with football and everything, you don't have to join glee."

"Rachel! Come on, we need another member and finn has volunteered, let him if he wants to."

Finn nodded and somehow it was arranged that he would be joining the glee club.

"What do you want to be after high school Rachel?"

Burt asked.

"Well, I love performing arts but I could never be on stage, so I was thinking something like a drama teacher, or something, I'm not quite sure yet."

The rest of the meal went well, with no awkward silences or anything of the sort. As Carole began to clear the table, Rachel stood up and offered to help, after Carole refusing for a couple of minutes and at Rachel's insistence, the two women headed, with plates in their hands to the kitchen.

Next chapter will have a Rachel/Carole conversation in the kitchen which will be cute and fluffy, please review and tell me what you want or if you enjoyed this chapter because I never know of you all like it or not:) Till next time...
