Hi, everyone! I wasn't sure I was going to get this finished today; I did the next one beforehand and I just need to add a few more words to get it to 600. The next one is one of my favorites because it's for an AU that I've been really looking forward to making into a multi-chapter story, and I will if it gets a good response.

But back to this chapter - I already had a plan, but a few of you suggested ideas that reinforced what I decided to do. Thanks to Scaehime for the usual tips and corrections - honestly, what would I do without ya? x3 I'll try to sort out that correction as soon as I can.

I think this one turned out fluffy, humorous and slightly sad, but I'll leave it up to you guys to decide. Hints of Puzzleshipping, and Yami's called Atem in this one, but just to reinforce the fact that he just got his memories. Hey, would you look at that? This actually takes place during the canon plotline! It's been a while. Set after the memory arc, but before the ceremonial duel. Oh, and if you're wondering where exactly they are, it's called the 'Red Bubble Teashop'. It's the place that Yami and Anzu go for their drinks at the start of the 'date' chapter/episode. And yes, that's a canon fact. Anzu says so in the manga.

Oh, and last chapter got six reviews. Thanks everyone who reviewed! ^^

#22 - Don't Go

Words - 600

Yu-Gi-Oh doesn't belong to me, but to Kazuki Takahashi.

"This is awkward..." Atem muttered nervously. "The last time I was here was..."

"You've been here before?" Yuugi sipped a vanilla milkshake with a curious expression. Atem sat opposite him in the teashop, in spirit form. "I don't remember that."

"Well..." If he wasn't incorporeal, he would probably have blushed slightly. "Me and Anzu were here... On that... That date." He winced at his own words.

"Wow... Really that bad?" Yuugi chuckled, and he joined in for a moment. "I never knew you didn't like Anzu."

"She's a good friend, and her heart's in the right place," Atem corrected. "But I love her, Jounouchi and Honda like siblings. It's odd to be in such a situation; I don't love her romantically."

"And you wouldn't even give it a shot?" Yuugi tilted his head, confused. "But you've always been aware of your surroundings, ever since the puzzle was solved, right?"

"What does that have to do with anything?"

Yuugi smiled blissfully. "Remember that date I went on with her at the amusement park?"

"How could I forget it? She almost got herself blown up on the ferris wheel, on purpose, just to see if I'd show myself. A terrible day."

The younger grinned. "Did you not see her in that bikini?! I mean, really..! Even if you don't like her that way, I still think you should've given it a would you have to lose?"

"...She's not my type..." He muttered, casting his eyes downward.

A moment's silence rang through their booth, the idle chatter of others in the teashop the only ambience around them. It was Yuugi who broke the silence.

"Hey... Wanna take control for a bit?" Yuugi asked. "You deserve some time to enjoy life without worrying about shadow games and duels for once."

"Aibou, I couldn't-"

"Go on!" Yuugi smiled warmly, and the spirit sighed in resignation. The puzzle glowed for a moment, before Atem found himself sitting on the opposite side of the booth to before, Yuugi now in spirit form observing the other with silent laughter. "Life isn't a chore you know, Mou Hitori- Um, I mean, Atem."

His eyes softened after he took a sip of his drink. "Aibou... Until the end, I'll be your 'Mou Hitori No Boku'. We have a month before we have to go to Egypt. Even then, I might not have to go. If I fail the trial required to go on to the afterlife-"

"Don't even say that!"

He blinked, Yuugi seemed rather upset by his words.

"Aibou..."

"You deserve it," He murmured, barely above a whisper. "You deserve to go back to your real friends... Your family. To everyone you grew up with, and if you're here..." A few tears managed to sneak their way down his face. "If you're here, with me, you can't have that! I wish you could stay with me forever, like we promised! But you'd suffer; even if you denied it, you would. Don't you dare say that you might fail."

Atem sighed at his partner's words, before a small smile made its way forward. "You're right. Thank you for reminding me what we're fighting for. And even if we're separated... It won't be forever. One day, hopefully not anytime soon, you'll pass on. And the time we'll have together then will make our time apart for your lifetime seem like a speck. I really will be with you forever... If you want me to be."

Yuugi smiled back, just as softly.

"You're right... Now, let's go! How aout we go to the card store and the arcade?"

He chuckled. "This is beginning to sound a lot like my 'date' with Anzu, but more worthwhile."

Yuugi would've resembled a tomato if he wasn't in spirit form.

How was it? Did you guys like it? Be sure to tell me what you thought!

By the way, on a slightly awkward topic... Remember last chapter when I mentoined a poll on my profile? It was the first one I've made on here, and I made the poll... But I sorta forgot to add it to my profile... ^" Oops! Anyway, it's up there now, so I'd appreciate it if you'd check it out. You'll also be able to see what stories I have planned next. Until next time! ^^
