We're back everyone! I apologize for not updating for so long, life caught up with us. mainly I started college, P12ussia's computer got so many viruses that it might not be able to be fixed, and NEXON AMERICA SHUT DOWN THE GAME! WHY NEXON AMERICA, WHY?! Sorry about that, anyway, it's getting harder to post chapters now that we can't just run through the game, so now we must turn to doing research. Here's the next chapter for Strange Adventures!
Disclaimer: It will now never be possible for us to own DFO, and even if it were possible we wouldn't own it.
When she arrived at the tavern, smoke rose from the roof and billowed out of the windows. She thought to herself, What are those goofballs up to now? Lo and behold, Arren had dropped a fireball he was juggling and set the place on fire. Again.
"What were you thinking Arren?" Nel shouted. "You could have burned the tavern down and then E would've killed you! Literally!"
"B-but I just wanted to test my new skills!" Arren whined.
"Do you wanna die?"
"No..."
"Then help fix Suisha's place."
Arren sighed a big okay.
Then Komie emerged covered in soot and stumbling around like the blind man he is.
"Komie, why did you let this happen?" Nel shouted exasperatedly.
"I was still with GSD!" the Asura protested. "Don't blame it on me!"
She sighed and shook her head. Time to clean up. They helped get everyone who was inside out to safety, although most were adventurers who managed on their own, and assisted the local fire brigade, once they arrived, in dousing the conflagration. Fortunately, much of the damage was superficial, so rebuilding was going to be mostly cosmetic work. The party paid Suisha yet again, and then Arren began preparing the teleportation spell that would take them back to West Coast.
Not surprisingly, Eromreven and Evecil were nowhere in sight when the trio materialized at the base of Sky Tower.
"Where are they?" Nel wondered aloud.
Arren grinned and produced a piece of parchment, which he rapidly scribbled on. "Don't worry, I'll let them know we're here!" he cried. The young Bomber rolled the note into a tight roll, which then hovered above his hand and then disappeared in a small burst of flame. "There! They should be back soon."
Nel ruffled his hair and added, "With nothing else on fire! Good job, kid."
"Say, isn't that a new record?" Komie grinned. "Normally the ground would be on fire too." He gave Arren a teasing pat on the back.
"It's not that big a deal!" Arren protested.
"Come on, can't take a joke now?" Komie was in mock mode now that he could tell others' emotions by focusing on their auras. Teasing Arren was ten times as fun now. Arren's aura was a reddish-pink at the time.
That night...
"Room fer two more?" The door of the small room that the three had rented at the local inn slammed open under the Berserker's fist, revealing Eromreven and Evecil in the hallway.
"Yep. Always gotta keep enough room for everyone!" Komie said, accidentally facing the wrong way. He was still adjusting to his blindness but also thinking of it as a new perspective.
Eronel teased, "You'll have to sleep on the floor, E, but we can all cram in."
It was a small room with only two beds, Nel having claimed one on grounds of being the only female. Eromreven laughed as he entered and dropped his sword by the door. "No problem, I've had worse."
"I'd rather not if I could avoid it," Evecil said stiffly, following the Berserker. He sat on the foot of the second bed next to Arren, who could not help gawking at his new appearance.
"Seems that mister high-and-mighty finally cooled down." Komie mocked while attempting, and failing, to stifle a laugh.
Evecil smacked Komie with enough strength that wouldn't completely knock the Asura out.
"God, that hurt! Can't ya lighten up a bit magey boy? It was only a joke."
"Just because I'm a Glacial Master does not mean my attitude changed," Evecil snapped.
"'S right, same ol' grump," E happily supplemented. "Anyone got an extra pillow?"
"Ready?" The party stood in front of a rough structure built on the back of Behemoth, a massive sky whale. Eromreven had his sword out, impatiently spinning it while the others finished last-minute preparations.
Komlin laughed. "Keep your pants on, man!" he cried, drawing his own blade.
Evecil rolled his eyes and readied his staff. "Honestly, you can be so impatient." Arren looked at his twin and chuckled.
E proudly declared, "Damn straight!"
"Come on, let's get this nut some violence," Nel said with a roguish grin.
The building was a temple of some sort, with elaborate wall carvings overgrown with vines. Walls of arches open to the sky allowed a spectacular view of the clouds as Behemoth lazily swam through the air, wind whistling through the airy rooms. Relics were scattered everywhere, ancient pottery and chests.
Nel slowly walked into the temple, gazing in awe at the ancient work. "Well, we're here... So where are the inhabitants?" she wondered aloud.
"Easy way t'find out," Eromreven chortled, then smashed the pommel of his blade into one of the huge clay pots scattered around. "That should bring the bastards running," he declared confidently. Two more pots quickly followed in the path of the first, falling in shards to the ground.
"Idiot. Do you want to get us killed?" Evecil snapped.
The Berserker shrugged nonchalantly. "Nah, jus' noticed!"
"Is that so, defiler?" moaned a strange voice. The party whipped around to see a figure in long robes and a wooden mask approaching. "Intruder alert!" Suddenly, many more GBL Zealots were swarming into the room, and they were accompanied by some of the large, grotesque octopi native to Behemoth called He'etakos. Neither group was pleased discovering trespassers in their lair.
"Provoking the locals," Nel sighed. "The things he does best..." She stepped forward and called to the irate assembly, "We apologize for our companion's behavior! We are here to investiga-"
"For the glory of Lotus!" A small dagger whizzed past her long ear, which she dodged with a calm shift to the side.
Eromreven scowled at her. "Now can I?"
A dismissive gesture from the dark elf set the battle in motion. Laughing madly, E dove into the fray, drawing blood from the first Zealot he encountered and taking off in an erratic, explosive streak of red. The others stayed close together, Nel and Komie with their backs to Evecil and Arren. All experimenting with the skills they had learned from their mentors upon classing up, the battle was a huge, flashy expenditure of energy that ended quickly.
"We have to do that more! Woo!" Komlin yelled, clearly pleased with his new skills. "That ghost orb thing that GSD taught me is EPIC!"
"You done good, kid," Eromreven agreed, fistbumping the new Asura. "Pretty damn cool, all of ya."
"Great. Now let's get going," Evecil said shortly, jerking his head towards the far door. "We need to find out why the locals are acting this way."
The party advanced through the areas with some difficulty, the main annoyances dragon-shaped cannons and He'etakos, until they stood outside the door that led to the last room.
From what they had learned from the dying zealots, this group answered to the dual leadership of a high priest and archbishop, who would be waiting through the large stone portal for the irksome invaders who had demolished their cult.
"Think these guys'll give us any trouble?" Komie asked. "Cos I doubt they'll be very hard t' beat."
"Probably not," Nel agreed easily. They had recently become aggressive, but judging by their skill it was clear that the GBL cult was not yet well versed in combat.
"Then what are we wasting time for?" Evecil asked snarkily, "Let's go!"
"Sheesh brother! Calm down," Arren sighed as Eromreven shouldered the doors open.
"Who needs calm!" Komie chuckled and the party continued onward.
