When Rebecca got to her hotel, she checked in and went to her room. When she looked around, she saw that it really was a luxury hotel. There was a king bed by one wall, with a huge tv facing across from it in one room, in the other was a couch and a few chairs arounds a coffee table facing another massive tv. The room also came with a complete kitchen and a giant bathroom with a hot tub that seemed too big to be real.
"This is gonna be awesome." Rebecca said to herself as she walked in.
When Desmond got to the bottom of the stairs he stopped and caught his breath again. "Man, that was so not worth it." he said to himself as he sat down. But then he heard someone approaching and he quickly stood up again. A police officer walked into the stairwell just as Desmond was standing up. Desmond did his best to look surprised at the appearance of the officer.
"Hey, what floor did you just come from?" The officer asked him.
"Uh, the forty-second." Desmond said, keeping up his act of being surprised. "Why?"
"A body fell from the top of the tower a few minutes ago, it looks like a suicide but you can never be too sure, especially in this city."
"Oh, jeez, that awful..."
"Yeah, it really is. So do you mind telling me what you were doing on the forty-second floor?"
"Oh, yeah, I work here. I was just going out for my lunch break."
"It's four o'clock. Bit of a late lunch, isn't it?"
"I got caught up with a project and didn't have time to get off until now."
"Fair enough. But why are you dressed like that?" The officer said, nodding towards Desmond's hoodie and jeans.
"Oh, it's casual day."
The police officer exhaled slowly, then nodded.
"Alright, I believe you. You can go."
"Thanks, if it was a murder, then I hope you catch whoever did it."
"Thank you."
Desmond then left the stairwell, and then the building. He glanced at the crowd surrounding the body before walking away. I'm gonna have to be more careful from now on, he thought to himself.
