Hey, everyone! Sorry for being a day late, my parents made me watch TV with them all day after I got home from school, meaning I had no time on the computer :/ So here's a slightly longer drabble to make up for it! (Not much longer, and partially because I don't wanna shorten it; it'd ruin the quality and it's already 9:55PM. Have another kiddie AU. Because those are fun. XD

Every year in Domino, the local elementary school would treat all of the children to a week of summer camp in the summer holidays as a reward for good behavior. It was a very fun tradition, and most of the kids at their school loved it.
Mutou Yuugi was no exception. At twelve years old, the sixth-grader would be getting his sixth and final chance to go on the residential trip this year, and, as always, he was extremely excited. Even more-so this year, as he finally had someone there to hang around with.
His best friend of five years, Mazaki Anzu, would often try to hang around with him, but she was much better at making friends than him and he always ended up stuck watching her have fun with all of her friends while he spent time alone, trying to get some time spare with her. Usually, he would end up very lonely, despite the girl's efforts. That had all changed at the start of the school year, when a new boy had started. The boy seemed rather quiet and had a dangerous aura that frightened away most of the other children, but Yuugi was different. Yuugi had instead saw loneliness, as he desperately tried to fit in but was afraid of what others may think. The boy had sat next to him in an attempt to keep away from the judgmental glances the other kids were sending him, and by the end of their second class, he had successfully gotten the new kid to open up slightly.
Sakaki Yami had very quickly become a very close friend of his, and was always there, no matter what, even when Anzu wasn't. The two would always pair up for gym and group work, resulting in Yami dubbing his new friend 'Aibou'. Yuugi rather liked the nickname.
It wasn't long before he counted Yami as his best friend (Not that he discounted Anzu, he believed that you could have more than one best friend), and he began to learn a lot more about the other, such as the fact that he had three brothers, one elder brother, a twin, and a little brother. His elder brother was attending Junior High, his youngest brother was in kindergarten, and his twin was attending a 'special school' due to 'behavioral issues', as Yami put it. Neither of them really understood, except that maybe Yami's twin wasn't nice enough for normal school. When questioned about his own education prior to sixth grade, Yami had quickly changed the subject.
Yuugi had also began to feel rather odd when Yami was around, sometimes feeling himself blushing when Yami would hold his hand in gym when they were asked to pair up, or when told to hold hands with their partners on field trips. It seemed like a crush, but... Yami was a boy! And didn't he like Anzu? At least, he had thought he did, until now.
"Aibou!"
Speaking of Yami, the other boy rounded the corner, a grin plastered on his face as he dumped his backpack on the floor next to his seat on the train compartment. The two had decided to share, along with Anzu and some of her female friends, a teacher cautiously keeping an eye out for bad behavior and any stragglers. Yuugi smiled warmly, hugging his friend and pushing the bag further out of the way. "Yami! You're here! You took forever, they almost went without you!" He nuzzled into the other's neck with a soft smile. "I'm glad you're here."
Yami smiled, leaning his head on top of Yuugi's. "Me too. Sorry I took so long, Yuuya ran away with my puzzle and we had to chase him around the house to get it back. Then Atem got all moody and Nul hit Yuuya and Yuuya started crying and-"
Yuugi giggled. "Slow down, Yami, you're rambling."
A faint blush dusted over Yami's cheeks as he scratched the back of his neck awkwardly. "...Oops."
After arriving at their destination, the sixth-graders were split up into two so that they could go to their cabins; one for girls, and one for boys.
"Hey, Shrimp!"
Yuugi didn't even need to look up to know who the bully was talking to. The other boy continued to speak as Yuugi ignored him as he continued to unpack.
"You sure you're really supposed to be here? The second grade cabin's back over that way." The other boys laughed, and Yuugi heard a growl from his right.
"Leave Yuugi alone! He's a month older than you, Samoshi, and he's a lot more grown up than you'll ever be!"
Yuugi glanced over at Yami, who was glaring protectively. Samoshi flinched back for a moment at the red-eyed boy's intimidating aura, before slinking away.
"Thanks..." Yuugi murmured. "But you didn't need to..."
"No-one hurts my Aibou." Yami nodded in his direction, and Yuugi couldn't help but murmur another thanks.
Yami was always there to protect him.
The night was a clear midnight blue, with stars seemingly poured over the horizon. Yuugi smiled softly to himself as he turned over in the top bunk of his and Yami's shared bunkbed (Yami wanting him to be further out of the reach of the other boys, who would endlessly tease his short stature), pulling the sheets closer. Everyone else was asleep... Or so he thought.
Yuugi frowned at the sound of sobbing, holding onto the bed's railings as he ducked his head down, bangs hanging towards the ground as he looked in the bed below his in a batlike fashion. In his upside-down view, he noticed Yami, curled up into a ball and hiding his face.
"Yami?"
The sobbing stopped for a moment, and Yami hiccuped quietly, before turning large red eyes towards him in slight fear and sadness. "A-Aibou?"
"Come here..." He urged quietly, dragging the older boy up into the same bunk as him, quietly asking what was wrong. Yami leaned on him tearfully, and Yuugi took a worried glance at the others, afraid of them waking and seeing Yami so vulnerable. "What's wrong?" he whispered, and Yami immediately whispered back his worries; that until that year he'd been home-schooled; he was a bright boy and would be able to handle it easily. The transition had been tough for him; he was always with his family, and being somewhere new was difficult. The summer camp was only making things worse, as he'd never gone to one before and never had any friends to go to sleepovers with, so this was is first night away from home.
"It's okay..." Yuugi whispered softly. 'To hell with being embarassed,' he thought, kissing Yami's forehead and hugging him tightly. "You still have me."
Yami nodded after a moment, clutching him tighter. "I know... I... I really like you, Yuugi..."
Yuugi's eyes widened in shock, before he smiled. "I feel the same. Just remember... I'm not going anywhere, I'll be here for you. Always."
The two stayed like that for most of the night, cuddled together on Yuugi's bed, Yami only going back to his own bed that morning so that he could keep up his tough faćade. No matter what, Yuugi would always be there for him.
This one has some background. It's very loosely based on a post from Imagine Your OTP on tumblr, but I edited it slightly x3
Also, about Yami's family - his older brother is Atem, his little brother is Yuuya, and Nul is his twin brother. Nul is basically Season 0 Yami, since I wanted him to be his own separate person, I've wanted to write these four as brothers for ages x3 I called him Nul because of the word 'Null'. Null, zero, get it? XD *Shot* And as for his 'behavioral issues'.. Well, he's Season 0 Yami. 'Nuff said. XD
I hope you all enjoyed this one! Updates should be back to normal for a bit; I have a week's school holiday meaning I'll have plenty of time to write up a few prewritten ones and get on with a oneshot for SkyJolteon on deviantART, which I hope you'll all enjoy.
Thanks to all my readers and reviewers, and thanks to those who reviewed the last chapter; Envytastic, CynthiaTheButton, Slferesque, Chaos Twin of Destruction, amaurai, YugiohFreak19, ChangeOfHe4rt, Fragments of Imagination, Lunagale, Scaehime, Guest, and Thunderbolt Blast (It's always nice to see a new reader, and your review made my day)!
Also, thanks to happychica for reviewing chapter 48!
Wow, this marks the halfway point for this collection! It's come so far, and I can't believe I'm already at 399 reviews! I think I'll do something for the 500th reviewer; how about a free request for them? I wanted to do something like this sooner but I forgot at 100 so I thought 500 would be the next big milestone. :D
