Hi everyone! Here's the newest drabble! I even prewrote this A/N! XD It feels good to be ahead of schedule again.
Anyway, as I said, this one is dedicated to xfallenangel13x, with a special brand of mobiumshipping last seen in #20 - Smile. But don't worry people, I remember what you all requested before, and it's not Monarchshippy, Yuugi actually has an extremely large part to play in this, which I admit feels SO MUCH better to add. XD
(Adding this right now though - happy belated birthday to Envytastic, because I was too late to tell you on dA. XD)
Enjoy! x3
#52 - Sorrow
Words - 1000
Rating - K+
Setting - Ancient Egypt AU
Shipping/s - Trinityshipping (Atem x Kwwy x Heba [xfallenangel13x came up with the ship's name, so props to her x3]), with little mentions of Supportshipping.
Warning/s - Small mentions of violence, and there's slight incest, as Kwwy and Atem are brothers. Meh, it's ancient Egypt though, and some pharaohs ended up marrying their sisters, right? x3
Disclaimer - Yu-Gi-Oh! doesn't belong to me, but to Kazuki Takahashi.
What is happiness?
Happiness is a feeling of contentment, a positive emotion.
But what really makes people happy?
For Jōno, being able to see his sister every day was enough to make him happy. For Teana, the fact that she was getting closer and closer to her dream of being a royal dancer for the palace spurred her on; she lived to dance, and dancing brought her extreme joy. Her husband, Honda, was made happy by knowing she was happy, and that was good enough for him. Not to mention the fact that he had a good job as a palace guard, with solid pay.
Heba's grandfather was a local game and toy-maker, and the smiles of the children and their parents who came to his shop was enough to make him happy... Although the money in his pockets did a lot to help that, too.
But Heba? What really made him happy?
Fighting.
As bizarre as it sounded, fighting would bring joy to his life.
Of course, it wasn't the fighting itself. Heba had always been a pacifist and fighting was something he was reluctant about, but as his grandfather fell into debt, he had found no other options. Eventually he'd become very skilled, relying on speed, agility and knowing his opponents' weak points rather than brute strength.
Fighting made him plenty of money to pay off his grandfather's debt, as well as enough to live a rather comfortable life. He would make up excuses as to where all the money was coming from and so far everyone seemed to be believing him, but he didn't think he could keep it up any more. It was time to quit.
But fear stopped him. What if he got into trouble with the organizers for leaving? He didn't want to be hurt for it - or even worse, he didn't want them taking out their anger on his grandfather.
And then came his other reason for staying. His reason for finally feeling happy there, for the first time.
Them.
At first, he had barely paid them any notice, until he'd realized who they were. After that, he'd become interested, and Heba had become determined to speak with the other two teens with hair so similar to his. After a while, they'd become... Close. But the only chance he had to meet up with them was the fights.
And just who were they?
Princes Atem and Kwwy were very rebellious, always ignoring their father's instructions and getting away whenever they could, but this seemed a step too far. The two brothers had actually sneaked into an illegal fighting ring, for Ra's sake! They were extremely lucky that the pharaoh had so far not found out. Maybe that's what had drawn Heba to them in the first place, and they had visited him ever since.
Still... It seemed like a dream that they'd actually be interested in him, and he smiled at the thought of his secret lovers. Of course, no-one else was to find out.
The teen pulled his shirt over his head as he fumbled for a fresh one; the man he'd just fought with had ended up with a broken nose - courtesy of Heba himself - and his shirt had become slightly bloodied. He didn't want to be left with any awkward questions from his grandfather when he got home, besides, his princes would be visiting soon-
"Hello there, sexy."
Heba yelped at Atem's voice, cheeks burning as he darted to the other side of the room to snatch a shirt. Kwwy pouted slightly, while his brother just smirked victoriously. The two kissed for a moment, never taking their eyes off Heba and watching his blush increase.
"See? I knew you liked that, Ari." Kwwy smirked.
"Then again, it was him who came up with that idea," Atem added. "If it wasn't for Ari forcing us to do that back then, we'd still be fighting over him instead of all learning to share."
"Yet another rebellion against our father!" The paler prince winked.
"Grr..." Heba growled at them slightly, but both ignored it, walking up to him and kissing his cheeks simultaneously, before Kwwy pushed his brother away to give the youngest a real kiss. Atem watched with a smile for a moment, before he pushed Kwwy away as revenge, claiming Heba's lips for himself. Again, he found himself blushing, and his pride was slowly ebbing away; they had made him blush so much, and in only one visit!
When Atem finally let him go (Kwwy had grumbled at his brother for giving Heba a longer kiss), the three had wrapped their arms around each other in a loving hug.
"I missed you..." Heba whispered happily.
"We missed you too..." The other two smiled at him gently, as they always did when they visited. Kwwy as the first to pull away, his demeanor changing as he spoke seriously.
"Ari, I want you to listen... We were caught." Heba clapped a hand over his mouth in horror, before Atem glared, continuing on from his brother's words.
"He doesn't mean that father found out about our relationship! He means that he found out about us visiting here, and he was sort-of angry at us..." The eldest scratched the back of his neck awkwardly, and Heba gave a nod of understanding. "Which is why he told us we have to get this place shut down from the inside, so we have to continue visiting undercover for a bit, under his orders. That also means that anyone found to be partaking in this will be arrested." Heba's eyes widened in shock, before it was Kwwy's turn to glare at his brother.
"He also said that any captives here would be rescued, and might be offered work at the palace if they're skilled enough. So... If you feign captivity..."
"I might be able to live in the palace with you..." Heba whispered in awe, before hugging them tightly with a squeal. "You guys are the best! I love you so much!"
In seconds, the princes smiled softly, hugging him back. "We love you too, Heba..."
This was his happiness, no matter how short-lived.
I hope you guys enjoyed this, and I tried to avoid the 'Heba trap'. It's often easy to make Yuugi OOC when he's given the name Heba as I know that it personally disorients me when I see that anime in fanfics, as I know it does for others, too. As Heba is technically only a fanon character, he has no canon personality and therefore he can often be written as OOC for Yuugi. I tried to avoid this by giving all characters their normal names and then editing it afterwards using the find and replace tool, but I think the whole idea of Yuugi fighting makes that pointless anyway, sadly...
Oh, and I'm pretty sure Ari is ancient egyptian for Partner, I've seen it in a few fanfics but it's been a while since I read those so there's a chance I'm forgetting something here. If I am, can you please correct me? I'd really appreciate it!
As a side note, I've left this open for continuation, but 'm not sure how it'll continue if I do make more. It could go wither way; things could work out for them, or their plans to be together despite it all could go horribly wrong. I guess I'll find out what way to take it when I see a suitable prompt... *Shrugs*
Thanks to all my reviewers from last chapter! That means samaurai, CynthiaTheButton, TexasDreamer01, Chaos Twin of Destruction, Thunderbolt Blast, Invader-Techno, Sliferesque, Envytastic, and TheCrystalEevee! You guys all rock!
