Everyone was gathered at the banquet hall for Chris and Kat's reception. The announcer slowly announced the wedding party including the parents and the bride's maids and groomsmen, "And for the couple you've all been waiting for, it is my honor to present Colonel Christopher Jacob and Colonel Katherine Paige Richardson!" Kat and Chris entered the reception hall hand in hand to many cheers and applause. The couple had chosen 'Better in Time' by Leona Lewis for their first dance as husband and wife so the newlyweds wrapped their arms loosely around each other and swayed to the music.
"I love you Kat. So much," Chris whispered in her ear.
"I love you too," she whispered back. When the song was over, the D.J put on a line dance for everyone else to join in the fun. Chris and Kat spent most of the reception speaking with the guests and taking pictures but they also got in a little more dancing as well. When it was time for dinner, the couple and bridal party sat at the head table and the waiters passed out the champagne and the ginger ale for those in attendance under 21 as well as for Tonya.
"Uh, can I have some of the ginger ale please?" asked Kat when the waiter went to pour the champagne in her glass. The waiter nodded and did so.
"Mom?" asked Jordan, "Are you?"
"If I could get everyone's attention please?" asked Jackson, "Well I've never been much of a talker. But the first thing I want to say is congrats Chris, you finally found a girl," he said and everyone laughed, "I would like to congratulate both of you and I would also like to say welcome to the family Kat. Here's to a long, happy life together. To the Richardsons!"
"To the Richardson!" everyone toasted and took a sip of their champagne or ginger ale.
Chris motioned for the microphone from Jackson. Jackson handed it to him and Chris stood, "Well I know the groom doesn't usually talk at weddings, but I'd like to toast my new wife, my new stepdaughter, and our future son or daughter."
Kat smiled and stood next to her husband, "We're expecting," she said happily.
The guests cheered and some called 'congratulations' to the couple. Chris and Kat sat back down and then glanced at Jordan whose mouth was hanging open, "What?" asked Chris.
"You mad?" asked Kat.
"No just shocked," said Jordan, "I didn't know you guys wanted another baby that badly."
"Well uh," said Kat.
"Got you," said Jordan. That was all her mother needed to say for her to understand. After dinner another slow song was played and many of the couples went out to join the newlyweds and parents-to-be. ****************************************************************************** Hector walked over to Gloria and asked, "Hey Gloria, do you want to dance."
Gloria hesitated a little, "Are you sure?"
Hector said, "I just want to talk to you."
Gloria took his outstretched hand and slowly wrapped her arms around him, "So what did you want to talk about?"
"Well first off, they made me a Corporal," said Hector proudly.
"Congratulations Hector," said Gloria.
"And um, I was talking to Charlie and Captain Galassini and they said I could come over and see Nicholas tomorrow. I was wondering if you wanted to come with me?"
Gloria thought about it for a few moments, "Okay." ******************************************************************************
Something had seemed off about Tim ever since he came home from Afghanistan. He wasn't interested in sex, he wanted to sleep all the time, and he was always moody. Holly had tried confiding in the other wives but they all basically told her the same thing: it's an adjustment.
"Yeah well all of the other soldiers have adjusted," thought Holly, "Goodness even Captain Galassini couldn't remember her own name and had healed." She certainly wasn't going to interrupt Kat's and Chris's special day with her own problems, but she was determined to talk to someone to try to find out what was really going on with Tim.
Soon, it was time for dessert though the wedding cake was so beautiful that no one wanted to cut it, not even Chris and Kat. It was three tiers, creamy white frosting, and a few white flowers on it. Chris and Kat finally cut the cake together and fed each other the first slices, though Kat did smear a bit of frosting on Chris's nose. The party lasted for a few hours longer before Kat and Chris did the bouquet and garter toss. Of course the only single ladies and gentlemen at the wedding were everyone's kids so Kat let Molly have the bouquet and Chris let Gabe have the garter to make them feel special.
Soon, everyone bid Kat and Chris farewell on their honeymoon. "I love you Mom, congrats on the pregnancy," said Jordan.
Kat chuckled nervously, "I never thought you'd be getting a little brother or sister."
"Well, tell me everything that you and Chris do in London, Paris, and Rome," said Jordan.
"Really? Everything?" smirked Chris.
"Okay, the touristy stuff," said Jordan.
"I love you too sweetheart," said Kat kissing her daughter and then following Chris through the rice to the 'Just Married' limo. The couple waved goodbye to the well-wishers.
Chris kissed Kat on the temple and let his lips linger there for a few moments. He rubbed her abdomen gently thinking about their baby, "Happy wedding day baby."
Kat kissed him back whispered softly, "Happy wedding day handsome."
