How Roxas met Axel

Roxas glared straight ahead as he attempted to ignore to obnoxious redhead that sat next to him in detention. It wasn't even the second week of school and he was already in detention, Saix was going to kill him. It was utterly stupid, especially considering Demyx hadn't even gotten detention yet.

Roxas attempted to do his homework as the redhead continued to try and grab his attention. Though the blonde hated doing homework he was more annoyed with the newfound leech that he felt the need to drown himself in something, the work seemed like a good idea.

"Come on Blondie." The red head groaned as Roxas continued to ignore him.

Roxas kept his eyes on his homework, pencil tapping lightly on the table as he tried to think of how to do the math problem. The incessant blabbering from his left making it hard for him to do his homework. He kept tapping his pencil, trying to keep his mind on homework and not the other boy. He was startled as the pencil was removed from his ands a moment later, before he registered what happened.

He turned stormy blue eyes on the redhead who was grinning at him. "Give me back my pencil."

"Not until you talk with me." The redhead's sea-foam green eyes meeting his stormy blue ones.

"You do realize it's your fault I'm in here right?" Roxas asked, thoroughly annoyed.

The red-head smirked. "I do."

"Then why should I talk with you?" Roxas hissed, getting fed up with the boy.

"Because I know you're not going to get that homework done. Might as well keep yourself occupied with more pleasant company." The redhead practically purred.

Roxas raised an eyebrow. "And you believe that to be you?"

"Oh, I know it's me."

Roxas moved his chair and watched the boy, eyes roaming over the redhead's body as the blonde studied him. The redhead smirked, acting as if he had already won the argument. Roxas finally let out a small laugh, the redhead quirked his eyebrow as he watched the boy.

"I've found more pleasant company in little kids."

The redhead watched the blonde. "Oh really?"

"Yeah for one they are better well behaved."

The redhead chuckled. "How so?"

"They wouldn't have pulled such stupid tricks."

"You enjoyed that prank."

Roxas watched the boy. "Not really my older brother's done it before, did it when he was a kid. He could have done a much better prank then that."

"You think he could have topped that?"

Roxas smirked. "I know he could have."

The redhead frowned. "You didn't try to stop me."

"I didn't think I needed to. I figured if you got caught you deserved it."

"And now?" The redhead teased.

"I should have reported you."

"You're just mad you got punished also even thought it wasn't your fault."

The blonde glared at the redhead, trying decide what he thought of the boy. He had to admit the guys prank was funny, Demyx could have done better, but his antics at the moment weren't the funniest. The redhead had been a fresh breeze in the boring classroom, it had cheered them all up, sadly because Roxas laughed the teacher thought he had been on it as well.

That teacher needed to learn to take a chill pill and not accuse innocents of such tricks, it could cause trouble for them later. The redhead continued to watch Roxas, studying the boy as the boy silently seethed.

The redhead sighed. "Look I'm sorry okay? You don't need to take your anger out on me, it's not my fault the teacher punished you as well."

Roxas sighed. "True, you did tell him I wasn't a part of it."

"He just didn't believe me."

"How often are you in trouble that they wouldn't even believe you?"

The redhead laughed. "Quite a bit."

Roxas watched the redhead again, calming a bit from their talk earlier. The redhead was right, Roxas shouldn't be mad at him. The redhead leaned back in his chair looking completely relaxed, as if he wasn't stuck in school or detention for another thirty minutes.

"Why do you do it?"

The redhead looked up at the blonde's question, confused. "Do what?"

"The pranks."

The redhead blinked before realizing what the blonde meant. "Oh. No reason."

"Really?"

"Yeah." The redhead paused. "Why is there a reason your brother does his pranks?"

Roxas looked away. "It could be to get attention from our father."

"I bet your father will be mad you're in detention." The redhead muttered.

Roxas looked at the ground. "He doesn't care. My older brother has been caring for me and my siblings for several years now."

The redhead jerked. "I'm sorry."

Roxas laughed bitterly. "It's fine you didn't know. My brother does it in hopes of getting our fathers attention, or that's why he started at least. I think he just eventually got too used to doing it."

"My father's pretty easy going, lets me get away with quite a bit. My mother died a few years ago."

Roxas watched him sadly. "I'm sorry."

The redhead smiled. "It's no big deal. What about your mom?"

Roxas sighed. "My parents got a divorce when my youngest brothers were still babies. I haven't really seen my mother since."

The redhead frowned. "That sucks, does she not care about you guys?"

Roxas shook his head. "No! She cares, things were just rough between her and my father."

"Still I'm sorry." The older boy expressed sincerely.

Roxas watched him before jolting as the bell rang, signaling the end of detention. They both hurriedly grabbed their stuff and headed out. Roxas stopped by his locker real fast as he split ways with the redhead. As he finished grabbing his stuff he ran out of the school and began making his way home.

"Hey Blondie!"

Roxas paused and turned around to see the boy from earlier across the street from him. Roxas gave him a confused look as the boy made no moves to approach him.

"What?"

The redhead smiled. "What's your name?"

Roxas smiled back. "Roxas!"

"I'm Axel. A-X-E-L. Got it memorized?"

Roxas laughed. "I got it."

Axel waved before heading off down the road, away from Roxas. The blonde smiled before turning and continuing on home, feeling better than he had in a while.
