Pikachu's POV
This was ridiculous, I didn't know where to go, where would I go? That boy, Ash, told me to run. Run home. Well I would if I had one. Do I have one, not here I don't. And he speaks to me like I'm a child. Feeding me these weird foods. I have to act like a child just to get by.
By home I presume he means the human girls building. I don't like it there much. I have to sleep on a pile of smelly clothes. Do they not know my smell if far superior to theirs? Honestly, it felt like my mind was going to explode. But I will admit that they care for me. They're nice and I can spend a moment not having to plan and work things out and just be what they presume I am. A child.
I may not know much about the world I should live in, but I know what naturally speaks to me. And from my natural sense I know that I'm safer here with them. And maybe if I stayed here I'd stop having to act like an adult and finally spend some time as the child they believe I am.
The scent I'd been trailing faded away and I found myself halting in my running. Where the hell did it go? It was so strong and it suddenly just vanished.
"No, no, I don't have time for this" I complained as I turned on the spot. I couldn't smell him nor her. I was officially cornered. At a dead end with them gaining on me with every second I wasted. I could hear the closing in on me. I could hear their fighting their bickering. In just ten seconds I counted twenty 'James'. Seemed that woman was berating him again.
I had to admit I did feel sorry for the boy.
"Meowth, are you sure that thing came this way?" She asked and I panicked, they were seriously catching up.
"Course I'm sure, who'd you think you're talking to? I know my way around. Just cause this place is weird doesn't mean I can't track." I gulped at hearing that. He could track me all the way here? My eyes flitted about, trying to find somewhere for me to hide. There was nowhere really suitable. A few bushes but I could resort to that could I?
I could practically hear every step they were taking.
'Oh sod it' I sighed to myself as I ran into the closest bush, hunkering down and praying for them to pass.
I could see three shadows pass me, and they were anything but quiet.
"Are you sure?"
"I can smell the runt, trust me"
The two kept arguing as they continued down the road their backs gradually growing smaller. I could see the boy was trailing behind them trying to find me. His eyes kept skimming the ground as they left and I could see just how out of place he could appear. I almost felt bad for him.
As soon as their bodies turned the corner I jumped from my hiding spot, staring down in distaste at my own dirty appearance. I dusted down my chest as best I could and curled up in a ball on the floor. I had to wait for them to come here. They'd come this way, they had to.
I closed my eyes as I curled on the cold hard ground.
"Please don't take too long" I silently begged as I pulled my tail to me chest, hugging it against my stomach.
Normal POV
It had taken a while but the two were finally running down the road on the way to May's house. Both were panting and in serious need of a break before their lungs burst but adrenaline fuelled them as they turned corners skidding around dog walkers and cyclists.
"A-re we t-there yet?" Ash panted as he gripped onto the stitch rapidly causing problems by his side.
"How the...hell should I-I know?"
"W-well it's you-your house"
"Pikka!"
"What-what was that?"
"What're y-you talkin-talking about?"
"Y-you shouted P-pikka"
"N-no I didn't"
"Pikachu!" They skidded to a halt at the small bundle of yellow in front of them, a small paw rubbing at onyx eyes.
"Pikachu!" They yelled, finally realising what that voice was.
The small pokemon looked at them with a look that clearly showed 'seriously, you just noticed?'
"Pikachu, what're you doing here? You should be at my house"
"Pikka"
"I don't speak your language"
"Then why'd you ask?" Ash asked incredulously
"Shut up"
"Just saying. Anyway it doesn't matter anymore. Grab him and let's run" bending down she scooped him up holding the small baby to her chest.
"Run Ash!" She pushed his back softly urging him forwards.
"I'm going, don't pressure me. They might be behind us or still in front. I'm not going to just run."
"Whatever, follow me then" sprinting off, holding Pikachu close to her chest, she ran in the opposite direction to the three ahead.
"May!" He shouted, running after the girl staring at her back with one eye the other scanning the area for anyone. Thankfully the only people there were teenagers, and they were all far too occupied with their phones to glance up at a running girl.
"Come on Ash, you're getting left behind!"
"I'm coming, but can you keep your voice down. We're practically putting a beacon on us for those freaks to follow!"
"You're yelling too" May called back as she slowed down to let the boy catch up.
"Well I'm not now" he answered in a purposefully low voice.
"Yeah, now you are, anyway we're almost there. Take him will you?" Holding out the small baby Ash took hi staring into his eyes.
"May, how're we going to get him back home?"
"Run"
"No, not your home, his. How're we supposed to get him back to his family?"
"I don't know Ash, we'll cross that bridge when we get to it. Till then, just fun and make sure everyone just thinks we're holding a toy"
"Pikka"
"Shh, you're a toy" Ash hissed to him
"Pikka!" He answered indignant.
"Pikachu, please, just be quiet." Much to his relief the pokemon stayed silent, placing his head in Ash's neck as to appear lifeless. Apparently he understood. "Thank you" he breathed a heavy sigh of relief. If someone had seen that he wasn't a toy...he didn't even want to think about it.
The two ran past a group who did stare after them and he couldn't have been more grateful that they weren't in the beginning of the road.
"Ash, come on, you're dropping behind again" grabbing onto his arm May pulled him forwards forcing him to turn a corner and finally be met with her house.
"Thank God we're here"
It took no more than thirty seconds for them to burst through her front door. And thankfully they were eating in the kitchen.
"May, is that you?" Her mother called through as May closed the door behind Ash.
"Yeah, mum it is. We've been in the woods for a little while." She answered, not giving too much information in hopes that any conversation wouldn't last too long. And certainly wouldn't make her come through to see her.
"Oh, that's nice. Do you want anything to eat? And is Ash dressed now?"
A soft blush crossed Ash's face at being reminded of that.
"Yes Mrs, I'm dressed now" he answered, scratching the back of his head with his free arm.
"Good, you didn't half give Max's little friend a fright."
"I'm not surprised."
"May shut up" Ash hissed to her as he kicked his shoes off sulking up the stairs. He hated when she didn't back him up. She was his best friend after all.
"I'll talk to you later mum. I've got to go upstairs" May shouted as she followed the other up the stairs. "You aren't really annoyed are you?"
"A little"
"Don't be a child Ash. Come on, we've got stuff to do" waiting till he was sure they were out of her parents hearing range Ash added.
"Stuff like hiding from a group of crazed pokemon stealers."
"Yes, also hiding him. And coming up with a proper plan. A complex one that means we can get him through a portal, or whatever they used to come here, and send him home."
"Why complex? What's wrong with simple?"
"Simple never works"
"And complex does?" He countered closing her bedroom door behind him.
"More than simple"
"Why wouldn't this work? We let them take him, they open a portally thing, we dive in behind them and go to his world. Save Pikachu and go home. Done, simple"
"How's that simple?"
"It's simpler than what you're going to have come up with. And I spent a long time thinking of that"
"How're we going to get home?"
"I haven't got that far yet, I'm sure we'd figure it out. Go on then, tell me your brilliant idea?"
"I haven't got one" she answered, her voice muffled.
"What was that?" Ash asked, smugness seeping into his voice.
"I haven't got one"
"Exactly, I spent time coming up with an amazing plan and you haven't got one."
"Shut up"
"No, I have a plan, it just needs some fine tuning."
Rolling her eyes she turned away, only meeting his eye when he'd settled Pikachu on the bed.
"I'm not getting trapped in another dimension Ash."
"And you won't it'll all work out. Trust me."
"How can I trust you when your plans have a tendency to fail?"
"That only happens when I don't work it out with you. Now I am it can't possibly fail"
"I don't even want to do the plan, how the hell can I work it out if I don't wanna do it?" She asked exasperated.
"Cos, well, cos...you do homework!"
"Only because I don't want to get detention"
"And think of this like that. Only instead of detention it's your family and friends being murdered by psychopaths wanting a small yellow mouse."
"That doesn't fill me with want Ash"
"Well, uh, what do you want?"
"I want you to do my homework for me" she answered jokingly
"Alright"
"What?" She asked, her voice squeaking slightly in shock.
"Alright, I'll do your homework if you want"
"Ok" she muttered, having blocked herself into a corner. She never thought Ash would agree to that.
"Great, so what do you think?"
"Honestly, I don't know. How do we get us sent to the other dimension? I don't want to risk him being hurt."
"Well, we'll tail them. Let them take him and follow"
"That doesn't help us any...uh...how about we give it to the boy. He seems the most human"
"He seems the most normal I suppose. Though that isn't saying much considering one is a talking cat." A tugging on the hem of her shirt gained May's attention, glancing down at him she saw his eyes were wide and confused.
"Don't worry Pikachu, we're not going to let them hurt you. We're going to work it out. Trust us"
Though the clouding of confusion did lessen it was clear just how weary Pikachu was. And so not to risk saying something wrong May merely stroked his head softly.
"So, we give him to the boy?" Ash asked, just to make sure May was still going to help.
"No, we can't give him over. That'll seem suspicious, if we were so dead set against them taking him why would we just hand him over? I have an idea. I'll keep him here for the rest of the weekend. I'll bring him to school Monday, they're sure to come looking for him. They're bound to find him with us."
"But, what if someone else sees him?"
"We'll deal with that when we get to it."
"Alright, I suppose. I'll get going. See you Monday" with a half caring wave Ash left the room, leaving the pokemon and may to themselves.
"What did I just do?" May groaned to herself as she flopped back, her head resting next to Pikachu. Staring into his eyes she could clearly see the annoyance written on his face. "I'm sure Monday will be fun"
