Chapter 20: Second Season
An old-looking figure walked by, followed by a bunch of girls… well, he wasn't exactly old, he just looked slightly… drained.
"Moka, did you suck on Tsukune's blood again? You really shouldn't do that to somebody- they need that blood… if Tsukune ever dies from blood loss, then I'm going to stake you!" a short sapphire-blue haired girl said with annoyance.
"Sorry, sorry… I just couldn't help it, plus I felt so thirsty. I need breakfast right… I mean no, sorry," the pink-haired vampire girl apologised with her head bowed.
"Haha, there's no problem, Moka-san, I'm fine," he said with a smile as he put his hand on his neck; they couldn't see that he was actually putting a plaster on his neck.
"Besides, let's go hand out the newspapers we worked so hard for, to the school. Let's let our school know of our journey during the summer. It's a lesson for all," Tsukune continued as he lifted up a box full of newspapers.
The rest of the girls followed him outside as they prepared to hand out the many newspapers; Tsukune wasn't exactly expecting everyone to be flooding to the newspapers, but he wanted at least some people to read it. With the demise of the old, corrupt Public Safety Commission, the club could finally put out truthful, and unbiased reports. Especially ones such as their experiences at the Sunflower ranch.
Tsukune was happy that many people wanted to read the newspapers, and that many gave compliments to the newspapers. It was good for him to know that the hard work his friends and himself had put in, had paid off. It's been a month since what happened at that ranch; since those events, people have started to take notice of the Witch's ranch even more, and are fighting to protect it. Anti-factory and nature protection plans have meant that this factory will not be built there. It's peaceful there… we could at least protect Lady Oyakata and her fellow witches' heritage. Also on that night, Ruby-san is still emotionally wounded and under care; her master's love for her is what kept her alive. It all taught us the importance of the relationships between witches and humans, and even more importantly, the bigger picture of coexistence. That is what I strive for: the idea of a place where we can all be together regardless of what we are. To achieve that, I gotta get stronger- dreams are built on the strength of man after all, Tsukune thought with a thoughtful smile as he handed out the last of the newspapers.
"Tsukune, our hard work paid off!" Kurumu squealed as her hands reached around his waist.
"Where's that stupid wolf pervert gone? Our club president isn't even here… unbelievable…"
"How about we have a party to celebrate? To celebrate all the work we done and also all that we've been through in this struggle," Moka suggested with her index finger up.
"That's a great idea, Moka-san! We should hold it right after school!" Tsukune said in agreement as all their faces lit up.
"What about Gin-sempai?" Tsukune asked.
"Hmpf, that hentai-mongrel will be off flirting with other women or trying to peek into the changing rooms. We don't need him; he's the enemy of all women,"Kurumu said as she waved off the suggestion.
"Yeah, but we should still invite him; Gin-sempai has helped us through a lot," Tsukune said with a slight smile.
"Look, we already have one amazing man in our group, we don't need something of lesser quality," Kurumu stated with scorn for the latter. Tsukune blushed slightly.
The sound of quiet footsteps only grabbed Tsukune's attention as the others were all too busy deciding whether to have alcohol or not in the party. A bluish-purple haired girl walked up towards them; her uniform was different to others, with a white sweatshirt with dark sleeves, and some sort of black clothing underneath as well, just visible on the shoulders. Her striped purple stockings and belt wrapped around her legs, gave a further differentiation. Wait, is she even a student- I've never seen her before… Tsukune thought with a pause.
"You guys get on awfully well… I don't understand that kind of stuff," she stated plainly as she stopped before them. Her light purple hair swayed in the slightl breeze, but moved a lot more when her looked towards Tsukune.
"Whoa, what are you doing?" Tsukune said as her face moved closer to his, her eyes comically squinting as they got to ten centimetres in front of him. Now that he noticed it, she also had a lollipop in her mouth.
"I don't mean to be rude, but you are a bit too close," Tsukune whispered, his hands raised to his sides.
"Fufu, so you're Tsukune-kun. You're cuter than I expected… I'll take a copy as well thank you," the mysterious girl grabbed a newspaper from the side and started to walk away.
"I look forward to seeing more of you, Tsukune-kun," the girl mentioned as her figure grew slowly smaller.
"Tsukune… who was that?" Moka asked in a threatening voice.
"You better not have been having night time rendezvouses with mysterious girls," Kurumu warned as she glanced towards where the girl walked off to.
"I do not know her, guys, in fact, I don't think I've ever seen her at this school before," Tsukune confessed as the girls crowded around him.
I have a feeling that this girl just now will cause some more trouble, Tsukune thought in dismay as they made their way to their classrooms.
Everything was just as he remembered it: the chairs, the books, even his cat-like sensei was still her excited-self. His life back in the human world as a member of his coalition seemed like a world away.
"Good morning everyone, I hope you had a good holiday. Today is the first day of the semester, and we'll start off with a homeroom session," their sensei said, her tail moving side to side, just like that of a cat.
"Our first agenda, is selecting a class leader- essentially, we'll be electing a class manager. There are a lot of events happening this semester such as the school fair, so we need people to plan and lead," it felt as if a lot of people were shying away from the idea of it; especially since many of them turned away and looked bored.
Wouldn't want to be a class manager; a lot of responsibility, social skills, and leadership needed. Those things I don't really ha-
"Hey teacher, I think Tsukune-kun would make a good manager," a low female voice pointed out as Tsukune's thought process was cut out in one of the most ironic ways possible. Turning around, he searched for the traitor who would put him up as the class manager, there was a purple-haired girl, with a sweatshirt and striped stocking… just like the one in the morning.
"Wait… you're in our class?!" Tsukune shouted in surprise as everyone looked blankly at him.
"So, would you like to be the manager, Tsukune-kun?" Nekome-sensei casually asked, her cat ears twitching occasionally.
"Heh heh, that really is a funny sugges- no! Why me? The only thing I'm good with is a katana and guns," Tsukune tried to explain himself but the sound of clapping started to overpower his protests.
"Wait, why are you all clapping? I'm not good at this stuff… someone else would be better… you guys are only clapping because the rest of you aren't going to volunteer," Tsukune accused with annoyance.
"Congratulations, Tsukune! You've become the class manager," Moka said with a friendly and supportive smile. Tsukune also was smiling, albeit his smile seemed to twitch erratically every few seconds.
"Even though there's going to be another vote tomorrow, I think Tsukune would make a brilliant class manager," Moka added with a cute smile.
"I can't be a class manager, I am just not the right type of character… plus, I've got other things to do, like training, and… homework… and stock marketing (wait, no)," Tsukune tried to put himself out of the spotlight or at least make Moka think differently.
"Hey, by the way, let's go and buy some snacks. You know, for the party afterwards!" Moka suggested with jumping excitement.
What?! Just like that, I got ignored… I'm not good enough. I must commit seppuku! Tsukune thought comically as he got out his katana.
"Tsukune, it's you; I haven't seen anyone as hard-working and accepting as you. If it's you, Tsukune, then you can do it, so don't worry about it," Moka said with her hands on Tsukune's shoulders.
Alright, sorry for the ridiculously late chapter. Basically, I'll explain some things: you might have or might not have guessed that I'm a school student so I can't really write fanfics over most weekdays due to homework, revision, just general lack of time, so weekends are when I write them. I also like writing in the evening because my mind is clearer then (and the internet is also quicker). With this in mind, the last few weekends, due to other people and events, I wasn't able to post any chapters. Very sorry about it- doesn't normally happen like this. Anyways, hope you enjoy the massively overdue chapter and onto the next one!
