(Karins POV)
I gulped, looking at each of my friends before turning away, unable to look at them.
"H-how much do you guys know?" I asked.
"All we know is that Itachi killed your clan in order to get the Mangekyo Sharingan." Kiro replied.
"Actually, your only half-right. Itachi did kill them, but not to get the Mangekyo." I told them.
"If he didn't do it to get the Mangekyo Sharingan, then why did he do it?" L asked. I sighed.
"You see, my brother already had the Mangekyo Sharingan. He was testing his power."
"What kind of power?" Akimi asked. I shrugged.
"I don't really know anything about the Mangekyo. Father only said that it is more powerful then regular Sharingan, and that you can only get it under certain circumstances." I told them, seeing the attack in my mind again.
"I did hear Itachi tell Sasuke that you have to kill your closest friend to release it and very few in my clan can obtain it."
I looked over at my friends, Kiro looked curious, Akimi looked like she wanted to cry, and L was shocked as he tried to process what I said.
"Is that what you were dreaming your first night here?" L asked me. I nodded, tears gathering in my eyes. Akimi broke down and Kiro was trying to comfort her. L hugged me close.
"I'm so sorry." He told me. I looked over at him, confused.
"What are you sorry for L-kun? You've done nothing wrong." I spoke softly.
"I'm sorry that you had to lose your family. If that didn't happen, you would still have your brothers. You wouldn't be so alone." He replied, hugging me again. I hugged him back, letting the tears fall as I smiled gently at my first friend here.
"I'm not alone. Not anymore. If that had not happened, I would not have met you L. I no longer have to walk in Itachis shadow like I did before. I'm free now. I'm not alone anymore, because I have all of you, and Watari and Izumo sensei too." I responded.
"What do you mean walk in Itachis' shadow?" Akimi asked. I let go of L to look at her.
"Itachi was always the 'perfect' child. Well, up until the massacre anyway. He was the top student in the acdademy. He graduated in only a year when it normally takes 5. He mastered the Sharingan at the age of 8. He was about to be in the ANBU when he killed everyone." I stopped to let everything sink in.
"Itachi was so great...so...perfect, that everyone; all the teachers, my father and my whole family even, expected us to be just as talented as he was. My father always compared us to him. it was always 'Keep excelling like this and you'll be just like your brother in no time' or if we disappointed him 'How could I think that you would be like Itachi.'
"I wasn't until Itachi bacme distant when father finally noticed that we were not our older brother and he told us to walk our own paths instead of walking in his footsteps. You see, my father always told us of our inportantce as the police force of our village. So he was always so strict on our education and training. It was demanded that we be the best. If we were not the top of our class in both skill training and classwork, we were punished by extra study hours or more severe training."
"Wow, it sounds like you were expected to be perfect." Kiro began. "Most of my clan is dead too. It's just my dad and me now."
"What happened?" I asked.
"I guess they attacked the Hidden Mist Village when my dad was a boy. All the Kaguya were killed except him.
"Why did they attacked that particular village?" L asked.
"That was thier home village. During the Great Ninja War, they used clans with bloodline traits, like ours, as weapons. When the war was over the villagers turned against us. Some clans moved, those who stayed had to hide thier abilities, living in fear. My clan were aggressive, fighting as if uncivilized. My father was found by a man named Orochimaru." He paused when Akimi gasped.
"Orochimaru was from our village, the Hidden Leaf Village. He is one of the legendary 3." She told the guys.
"Legendary 3?" L asked.
"The Legendary Sannin. They are the most powerful Ninja alive. And it is rumored that all 3 of them were taught by Lord 3rd" I spoke, awe in my voice.
"He wanted to be the 4th Hokage, but was denied. He eventually got run out of the village because he was expierimenting on kids." I finished.
"Expierimenting o-on ki-kids?" L asked shakily. I nodded. I nodded.
"Yeah, it seems he wanted, and still does, want to learn every jutsu available in the ninja world." I replied. L sighed.
"Well, after he left the Leaf, he made a new village, the Hidden Sound Village. That was where I was born, but Orochimaru did not want a kid around so father had to get rid of me. He hid me nearby until last year, and here I am now." Kiro explained.
"What about you Akimi? What happened to you?" I asked.
