Disclaimer: I do not own Naruto or Log Horizon. This is a fanfiction used to help with my writing skills and the fact I enjoy writing stories like these. All I own is the ideas and sub-plots used to make this fanfiction and explore Log Horizon and Naruto in a different way. Also, don't own any of the games and anime I make reference to in this story, but still got to give homage to video games since this is technically a video game fanfiction as well.
"Oh, I ate too much curry," Shiroe sighed, flopping into his office chair. Naruto jumped up to Shiroe's desk, sitting on it while making sure the paperwork on it did not fly off.
[Well, you did eat four plates of curry. You normally don't eat that much like I do.] Naruto chuckled, swinging his legs over the edge of the desk.
"Akiba has gotten it's vigor back." Shiroe said, looking out the window, seeing all the lights throughout the streets near the center of the city. "Even though there is still holes in our economic system with pricing and such, it's good to see everything worked."
[Yeah. Though, give the pricing issue time. It won't take long for it to sort out as currency always need time to set its value once started. We just have the upside of old item prices for Gold to make the transition faster.] Naruto let out a sigh, [Though, guess I can't deny it any longer.]
"Your name? So the block is off it?" Shiroe asked, smiling at Naruto.
[Ah, knew I could not hide it from you.] Naruto grinned at Shiroe. [But, yeah. This world is using how I sort my memories for everyone else. But, it also my wishes to forget things I didn't like. Including my name.]
"I thought you loved your name. I mean, you love ramen." Shiroe jabbed at Naruto.
[The meaning of the name is perfectly fine.] Shiroe's eyes widen, [Back in the old world, I just saw it as simply a label for the current life I was playing. Even though I knew my parents gave me that name with love, it always sounded so hollow when it came out of people's mouths. As if instead that label was for describing something instead of for a person. When you remember every life you lived, it really gets to you. Though, now, it actually feels like a name when it comes from people's mouth's now.]
"Ah, that's right. You were the human sacrifice for Konoha. I guess it did not help with your problem." Shiroe sighed, picking up a report on his desk. "Though, to think your world was already using the same system as this one, but disguising it as reincarnation is actually quite brilliant. It allowed for the maximum amount of people to be brought to this world since each person who was fully incarnated resulted in two people instead of one with them reviving. It does make me wonder if any of this is really computer data as I was thinking."
[Oh, computer data was involved,] Shiroe raised an eyebrow at Naruto. [The backstory of Elder Tales was that the Ages of the Gods ended with the world broken. Though before the setting of Elder Tales, a time close to the Age of Gods was matched, it quickly went back down again with the extinction of the Alvs and the world possible broke again due to this.]
"And hence computer data was used to restore it." Shiroe said, nodding at Naruto. "That would explain why those with the computer data for the game was silenced like you or eliminated. As well as why this world has such physics connected to games. With such information, one could have total control over this world possible."
[Correct. Considering how Dad is an Alv and what all he done to the old world with just introducing his abilities and ninshu, it is safe to say that magic is an information based science able to act like computer code. Hence how it can make programs that results spells and cause effects normally not allowed in a reality without magic. It also explains why the Alvs sent people to the world I am from. This world probably needs the mass of real data to support the computer data used to repair this one.]
"Though, that also means we have no means to divide what is truly from the game and what is possibly actual a real thing to this world before the game." Shiroe sighed, "We need information. Though. the downside is that the People of the Land clearly have a different language even though they can speak to us just fine. You have learnt it, but it is pretty complex even for me. I am only able to copy it and read a few words at this moment."
[Hey. I'm multilingual considering how many lifetimes I been through.] Naruto pouted at Shiroe, crossing his arms. [However, don't get me started with kanji. Whoever made that is the devil.]
"Still not good with it, huh?" Shiroe sheepishly laughed before looking down at the streets below. Naruto also looking down, both of them seeing a person looking at the building before putting on his hat and walking away from it. "They already started."
[Can't blame them. Even if we made the council faster, the People of the Land do realize the Adventurers are no longer the mindless robots that they once knew.] Naruto stood up on the desk. [We are also causing a major revolution. Not all people are happy with changes and hence a common spark for war. However, I think we will be able to avoid it with the council set up.]
"However, that also means we might end up in their politics," Shiroe picked up another report, "Speaking of such, how is Konoha doing?"
[Good so far. The Kages and Daimyo's are planning a submit for the coming weeks.] Naruto smirked at the Enchanter. [The revolution is happening there as well. Konoha shared with Suna some of the new knowledge on technology and magic as part of a minor trade agreement. Suna has actually discovered how to combine skills of classes and subclasses through this and been using it to terraform areas of Wind Country to increase food production and livable locations. A much needed thing for a desert country like Wind Country. But, it also makes us realize what complications will be arising from the People of the Land with this revolution. Konoha alone has managed to finally establish a stable electrical grid and new spells for protection Konoha. I alone have managed to learn how to make batteries that store mana and made a prototype computer here that runs off of magic.]
"The possible conflicts ahead will be dealing with the whiplash of all of this." Shiroe chuckled seeing Naruto pull out two cups from his Magic Bag and a small bottle, "Though, that is why Log Horizon was made. It's not just a home for the family we have created through our friends."
[Our goal is to explore this amazing new world and solve the problems we face together with our family, right?] Naruto poured the liquid from the bottle into one of the glasses and held it out to Shiroe. [Though I am curious as much as you are of this world, I simply want to know all I can to protect my friends and the little ones on the way. Even though I was born in Konoha, Akiba has become my true home. A place where I actually feel like a person instead of simply a game character force to play a shit game over and over again.]
"Indeed," Shiroe took the glass, allowing Naruto to feel up his glass. "I still want to see if it is possible to return to the old world. Though, for you, that is clearly not possible. However, there are people here who probably want back, though even I find this world at times better than the old."
[I understand. I am perfectly fine with the current situation as long as the old world does not cause problems for Akiba. Though, I think we have a ways off before that happens. It is clear the two worlds are taking their time to combine and stabilize everything. The Catastrophe is not over, but I think the first bad wave is passed and it gives us time to prepare for the next wave of changes.] Naruto held up his filled glass.
"Agreed." Shiroe said, tapping their glasses together in a toast. "Let's enjoy the breather we have, even if it is for a little while." Shiroe took a sip from his glass. "Wait, is this wine?" Shiroe asked before paling with seeing Naruto gulped his whole glass down in one gulp.
[Ah. Good thing I accidentally left all those wine bottles in the bank within a special wine rack decoration. I was surprised I had quite an impressive collection of wine that will be useful for serving guests when I put it up in my wine room in the workshop.] Naruto said, glowing with happiness. [I was scared I would have to wait for a couple of years for good wine and alcohol compared to the knock offs some of the production guilds have made or real young alcohol brewages discovered so far. The young stuff is always too rough for me.]
"You're twelve. You shouldn't be drinking alcohol," Shiroe growled, glaring at the boy before him.
[Ah, technically, I am just a bit younger than 1,000 years old to this world. This body is my last reincarnation in the chain of lifetimes I been through by combining my avatar of Las Boss with my reincarnation of Naruto to ensure it.] Naruto innocently whistled, pouring himself another glass of wine. [Plus, we have no idea how age and level works in this world. Do we age as time go by or do we age by level? Considering our avatars have not ages all the time we played them when this was a game, it could me we are immoral not just to death or it could be our bodies here will only age now we are combined with them.]
"A good point... But, still, with how you look, I feel like I will get arrested with drinking next to me." Shiroe sighed, frowning at the fairy who was sipping his wine like a gentlemen.
[We have no laws against minors drinking alcohol. Personally, should stay that way for a while. Some kids are going to need the mind bleach for some of the monsters they may face when you consider computer graphics are now flesh and blood.] Naruto chuckled, sitting back down on the desk.
"Coming from you, that makes me feel horrible," Shiroe sighed, finishing his glass of wine before putting it down. He picked up a sheet of paper, a simple map. "Though, looking at a map of your world, I think I can safely say the original plans of the craters is not going to happen."
[Yeah. In fact, it's quite convenient when I look at it.] Naruto sighed, tapping his wine bottle on his hip. [Even if you kept just the countries together, they could easily fit within various countries to make up the whole Earth with the fact the whole world is divided up into zones. The only issue comes from the fact there is not clue picture of how this will go as the country borders are changing. Any place with a Cathedral or Shrine is resulting in people gathering around it. Konoha and the major shinobi villages are not the only villages experiencing the migration. Dozens of smaller villages are beginning to become major forces compared to before. That alone could easily change up where everything will be placed once the worlds combined. Though, at best, I can at least place Konoha and Suna most likely ending up in or near the Japan and China servers if they even stay with Fire Country and Wind Country.]
"Speaking of which, we need to try and get information from other servers as well. So far, it seems communication with other servers outside coming the forums with Hydra Link is not possible. If Konoha ends up on another server, they might end up right into chaos." Shiroe said, looking at the map.
[Oie, oie, don't worry.] Shiroe raised an eyebrow as Naruto lightly hummed. [The Old Man can handle Konoha if something bad happens. He might have been trying to push the job onto my shoulders, but he has experience with both politics and conflicts. He can handle himself.]
"Yeah. But, he is still part of Log Horizon, even if he is an unknown distance away." Shiroe said, before smirking at Naruto. "But, with what you said earlier, aren't you the old man and he's a spring chicken?"
Naruto burst into laughter. [Indeed! Especially since I made Las Boss before Sandaime Hokage and Itachi. Though, we can at least put Adventurers can change their names anytime they want if they think about it enough. Shika's name has turned to Shikamaru along with others. The Old Man is happy to have his name back instead of just his title. Even I have my name back. Itachi&Kisame is even getting her personality back slowly, though it might be more hidden due to her mood swings with the triplets.]
"That's kind of a good thing to here." Shiore said, looking back out the window, but at the star filled sky above the city. "The only thing we really brought from the old world to this one is our memories and who we are. It's best we cherish them just as much as our new friends and family." Shiroe got up, taking the bottle of wine and pouring another glass. "A toast to the expecting father. Congrats on being the first father in this world."
Naruto filled his glass back up and toasted Shiroe's glass again. [A toast to you as well. Congrats on finally making a house for others and yourself. However, I also toast to wish we add to the old memories with new cherished memories of this world.] Both mages smiled at each other, taking a sip of wine while watching the night sky before them.
End of Volume One
Endnote-Yes. Got one volume down!... Though, got to work on the next ones. Currently planning to do several one-shots and short fanfiction to help me fix up my outlining and all to fix some issues I fought with this volume and strengthen the next volume story wise. I will be doing some editing during the coming months or so for this story, mostly merging a few chapters of this story together as with seeing now it would have been better for the chapters to have multiple scenes instead of sticking to my one scene per chapter. But, I needed that to break my huge word count habit. I won't have an idea of when Volume 2 will be coming out till I get my outlines together to make a tighter story. Hope you all enjoyed this ride. For now, Auto out!
