(Akimis POV)
I ended up sitting next to the Sand Kunoichi and some guy from a village I didn't recognize. The proctor started writing on the board.
"Regardless of what most of you are used to, you will all begin with a perfect score of 10. Answer a question incorrectly and you lose a point. So if you miss 3 questions your final score is 7. Next, you see the sentinels around you? They are here to catch anyone who is cheating. Each time you get caught you lose 2 points. Get caught 5 times and you and your team are disqualified. This test is scored on a team basis, maening the final score depends on the whole team. If one person should get a 0, the whole team fails. Begin!"
I flipped over my test and saw that these questions are very difficult to understand. The first one in trying to decipher a code, and the rest are even harder than that. Each question deals with uncertainty. I thought about the rules. He said that only 2 points would be deducted if your caught cheating. Normally, you would fail automatically if you cheat. Is he expecting us to cheat?
*That would make sense. The 2 points being deducted, the difficult questions, and the eagle-eyed sentinels. Being a good ninja means seeing through deception. He is telling us to cheat and not get caught.* With that thought I looked around the room. If this was true, then then there had to be people to cheat off of.
That was when I found a Chunin 2 rows in behind me. I grinned and used my byakugans to see what the answers were. I laughed internally, that had been to easy.
(Kiros POV)
I saw that Akimi had figured it out, and I knew that Karin was in good shape. So was I, if I pay enough attention. I fosued on a Chunin 6 seats to my right, and follwed the vibrations of his pen as it hit the desk. I copied his every stroke. I was done in no time and sat their, watching as people were caught cheating and team after team got kicked out.
I looked over to my left, where Karin was seated, 4 seats away and I saw that she was using her Sharingan. She grinned like a kid in a candy store as she found a Chunin in front of her and she got right to work, not looking at her paper once until she inactivated her bloodline trait. She looked around, seeing yet another few teams get forced to leave.
I watched where her eyes went to. They landed on her twin brother, Sasuke Uchiha. His team seemed to be alright, except for the blonde boy.
Finally the last 15 minutes came. Time for the final question. We got more rules, basically telling us that if we quit now we could always come back next year. But if we stayed to answer the question and got it wrong we will be banned from these exams.
I watched as some Genin chickened out. That Naruto kid raised his hand, and just as I thought he was giving up, he slammed his hand onto the desk, telling the proctor that he can't scare him. I laughed internally.
I looked over at Karin who smiled fondly at the boy, like they were siblings, and nodded. The proctor, Ibiki Morino, looked around and I saw the Chunin on the sides of the room nodded at him.
"All there is left to say is.. THAT YOU ALL PASS!" He told us. Sakura and the Sand kunoichi questioned him and he said that there was no 10th question, that our answer to stay was the correct answer.
*Well, that was anti-climatic.* I thought to myself. And here I thought it was going to be some major, impossible to answer question. I wasn't expecting something so easy.
I looked over at Karin and she just had a light smile on her face. She was still watching Sasuke. She must of been really happy when she found that her brother was still alive.
Suddenly, 2 kunai came flying into the room, both connected to what looked like a big black cape. The cape opened up and a woman was standing there.
"Ibiki..you let all the kids pass? Your test must have been too easy." The woman told our proctor.
"Or, its just a good crop of candidates this year." He replied. She didn't seem to believe them.
"They don't look it. By the time I'm through with them, there will be less than half."
I gulped. Less than half? What kind of test does she have for us? I looked over at Karin again, who seemed surprised, but not worried. She looked over at that Naruto kid again. Perhaps she is worried about her brothers team?
"I'll tell your senseis when and where to meet tomorrow for the 2nd phase of the Chunin Exams. Dismissed!" We filed out of the classroom. Karin walked over to her brother, talking animatedly about something. Akimi was talking to her brother Neji and cousin Hinata.
They came back up to where I was waiting for them as we got ready to leave the room. We walked around for a few hours, just enjoying the day and the fact that the first exam was over.
We then went back to the hotel and saw Izumo-sensei. He asked us how we did, and we told him that we passed. We went out to train for a little while before going to bed.
