Chapter 15: Catching Up.
A cheerful Sayu Yagami, sits there brushing her daughter; Maria's hair. In preparation to spend some quality time with her father. A moment that never probably would of ended up happening if not for certain strange occurrences that would soon arise.
The sneer was all to familiar, the leather wearing angel, combined with a rosary gave it all away. The smile that soon opened devoured the chocolate that those gloved hands held. It was non other then M; Mello himself.
"Get up." The blond demanded to the mutt sprawled on the floor; who was in obvious shock to see what was standing right in front of him.
Matt nervously, but willingly got up to face his once thought to be dead best friend. Mello looked tired, his face; and who knows where else was more scarred then he last remembered. Long, tangled hair covered most of his face, and he too now bared deceased L's bagged eyes.
"Mel... Mello... So Near wasn't messing with my head. Your really here." Matt whispered, looking up at his friend.
Mello could only look back at his best friend, until finally reaching a helping hand to the red head, so that he could stand up. Matt thought about it for awhile, until he decided to reach the lending hand. As he took a hold of it, his blond friend's grip was tight, but reassuring. Mello's gaze made Matt shiver. It looked like a stare that only the despaired held. But it also looked menacing. Something in Matt made himself only stare away. It was guilt Matt felt. He quickly snapped out of it when Mello's fist met Matt's face. Causing Matt to fall back; this time against the wall.
"Don't look at me in pity Matt. Look at me as you would look at a rival; with respect, and ambition." Mello said in a serious tone.
Matt glanced at his friend, wiping off the bit of blood he had in the side of his mouth. Standing straight now, looking back at Mello as he should. Mello was never the type to let people feel bad for him. On the contrary... It was quite rude to feel that way towards him. At least that is how Mello felt about it. Sidoh was still frozen there in his spot, only to get a glance from Mello that sent shivers down his spine. Trying to look distracted by the chocolate he now picked up that belong to him.
"Thank you Shinigami for looking out for this idiot." Mello said in a eerie tone.
"Your quite welcome..." Sidoh whispered.
Mello looked back at Matt; who was still looking back at Mello's eyes. It was Mello's turn to get startled; as his friend grabbed a hold of him, and hugged his dearly missed friend. Mello let the red head hug him, as he too hugged his best friend back.
"It's been awhile... And again... You do things without informing me, so that I can't help you out. When will you stop acting so selfish Mello?" Matt asked sounding a bit angry.
"It's nice to see you too Matt, but you should know me by now. Once I make my mind up about things, I don't need others telling me other wise." Mello responded back, giving Matt a gentle push.
Matt glared at the blond, only to have a reply back. "And you know that a friend like me will always have your back when you need it. I know what I did was traitorous of me. To take someone I know you love, but believe me... If I knew you where really alive, I would of kept my distance."
"Really Matt? Come now! It's human nature for everyone; including friends to have some rivalry issues. It does not make us bad friends, it only puts us in a better understanding in between each other. It gives us the knowledge of each others feelings, and honesty. Honesty is what makes a good relationship; between friends, family, and lovers. If you don't have the honesty between people; then you might as well be enemies." Mello yelled back at Matt.
Matt smiled, not because of the relief he felt, but by how his friend never really left. He was always watching after him. Like a big brother Matt could rely on.
"What is with that look your giving me?!" Mello asked annoyed spread to his face.
"Nothing Mello. You just really don't change... Your still so emotional." Matt said as he once again hugged his best friend.
Having Mello push him off once again. "Don't think just because of this, that I won't fight back for my woman! I'm back now, so that means I will win her back. I'm not going to lose to you, as I do with Near! She told me everything Matt. And when this whole ordeal is over, I will take what is mine!" Yelled a angry Mello.
"You can try all you want." Matt said back in a cocky tone.
"What did you say?!" Mello yelled at the red head, as he began to make Matt wish he did not say what he did.
"NOOO! MELLO! Please! I'm SORRY!" Matt pleaded loudly as his friend continued to punish him for his actions. Making Sidoh shake in fear to himself in a corner.
Sayu fixed up a bit of what was left of getting Maria ready to see her father. Sayu glanced up at Maria face, puzzled by the nervous look in her daughter's eyes. Her daughter was never one to show intimidation by any new circumstances coming her way, but this time was different. She could see the girl was nervous, and fidgety at times, and she could only smile at her little Maria's reaction. Placing a reassuring hand on both little hands that where fidgety...
"It will be alright darling. Your father is as charming as you. I know it will be okay." Sayu said sweetly.
"I'm afraid. I'm afraid he won't like me..." Maria whispered to her mother.
"Your right dear. He won't like you." Sayu confirmed.
"What...?" Maria said teary eyed.
Sayu poked her daughter's button nose. "He will love you. So don't fear this new situation. He's your dear father, and he will forever love you. Show him how great you are, and you will see." Sayu said, with a sure smile. Making Maria smile back, hugging her mother by the head tightly.
Matt caught Mello starring at him after that beat down, Matt continued looking at Sidoh. Wondering why this creature was still here. Looming about.
"You must be questioning what he's doing here." Mello assumed, looking annoyed at his friend.
"Yeah, actually I am." Matt replied thinking hard. Trying to rub away the pain he felt from the blond's wrath.
Only to get a smack in his face after his reply.
"What was that for Mello?!" Matt yelled startled.
"You would of known, if you had only opened the damn envelope! Then you tell me I din't let you know of my whereabouts?! You idiot...!" Mello growled.
"What envelope...?" Matt asked confused.
Mello began to twitch in anger, before letting out a sigh.
"The envelope Gevanni brought to you holds a letter of my status, and a death note I took from Near. That is why that Shinigami is following you." Sighed Mello.
Sidoh, only thinking to himself about how big of a lie that was; refrained from saying anything that might anger the blond further. After all, the blond did force Sidoh to keep Matt close, because in reality; Mello had ownership of the death note, in no moment did he let it go to be owned to Matt. Mello was scary like that, to anyone; including to a shinigami like Sidoh. Thus making the scared shinigami keep the notebook, and friend safe.
"I tailed Gevanni, so I can find out where Near's headquarter's was located at. Of course he found out I was behind him, so I threatened to kill him with a bullet through his head if he did not cooperate. No problem for me to do. He was hesitant at first, but he eventually gave in after I told him that I set up some bombs, to some close relatives of his, and of course after that, and the surveillance proof of it; he had no other choice... So that is how I got what I wanted." Mello said quite satisfied with himself, making Matt twitch a bit at his own reckless actions.
"Boy... You sure are crazy at times Mel..." Matt whispered to himself.
"What was that?!" Mello asked menacingly.
"Nothing, nothing..." Matt responded back.
"Good. I'm glad you see it my way." Said Mello as he took a bite from his chocolate bar.
Mello began to get up, putting on his coat to leave. Holding the chocolate bar in mouth. Making Matt notice.
"Where are you going Mello?" Questioned Matt a bit worried.
"I'm going to spend some time with my daughter. Is that a crime?" Mello said sarcastically.
"No. Good luck. She's just like you." Matt warned.
"That's even better if she takes after me." Mello said quite proud of himself, not noticing at all what Matt meant by those words.
Elsewhere,
Sat T drinking his wine, wiping away some of it's residue from his mouth. He continued to watch the opera singer perform. Next to him sat the unwilling Takada. Writing away names requested by Rat. In hopes that he would keep his bargain to let her go, once he was done with killing people he deemed unworthy. People he knew. It was personal. Yet here was Takada doing his dirty work for freedom.
"Once your done; hand the notebook back to me Kiyomi Takada." Said T, as he sipped a bit more of his wine.
Takada looked at T, and handed it back as she wrote down a few more names. His eyes caught the fear in her own eyes, and he grabbed a hold of her chin.
"Cheer up Takada. You will soon no longer be involved in this situation." T informed the nervous, once spokeswoman of Kira.
As a couple of hours passed, Takada was fast asleep in a hotel T payed for. He glanced her way, before he began to erase the names. Sitting comfortably in the living room. The shadow behind him laughing his head off at the betrayal T had committed. Without a care at all, he closed, and tossed the notebook aside.
Hope you all enjoyed it so far. My OC T will get a better introduction soon, even thought half of you guys would care less. Since OCs are mostly ignored... lol. XD Bye guys! See you soon in Chapter 16: Catching Up. Pt. 2
