Chapter 25: Defiance

It was a suffocating dark abyss. The stench of death reeked in the air. The temperature was icy. The darkness was stretching out as a large dark figure flew around stalking its prey. It was chasing a screaming blonde through the darkness. Blending in with the shadows so she won't see him. He easily dodged a blast of her magic she threw at him. The dark figure is getting sick and tired of all this. It wanted to capture her. It needed to capture her. But she won't let him.

The blonde woman let out another yell as she dodged a large clawed hand aimed to capture her. She jumped in the air away from it. Pulling her hands back she gathered her newly discovered magic to her hands. With a shout she threw her hands forward striking the clawed hand. A bright yellow fire flew out of her hands. The yellow fire seemed almost alive as it raced towards the figure's hand. A sizzling sound echoed along with a loud roar. The dark figure jumped back now nursing its burned hand.

The blonde landed back down on the ground gracefully. Sweat beaded down her forehead as she breathed heavily. Her cloths were shattered only able to cover her private areas. She was covered in deep claw marks along with burns from the battle she has been having. The battle felt like it was never ending to her. Her body ached begging her to stop. Stop fighting. Stop running. But she can't. If she stops then the figure with consume her body like last time.

Last time, he almost took over her whole body, but the Spirit King intervened. He lent the blonde some of his power during her fight. He informed the blonde that she cannot give up. Help was on the way soon. She just had to hold out as long as she can. The Spirit's won't give up on her. So the blonde decided she wouldn't lose this battle. She will never give in to the monster.

"Give it up, girl!" The figure roared in anger from the shadows.

He was pissed.

He was beyond pissed.

If it wasn't for that meddling Spirit King then he would have had this girl's body. He wouldn't be standing here fighting this powerful girl. She already defeated him once out of pure luck. He won't let her do it again. He will consume her body using it as a vessel to return to earth. Then he plans to kill Igneel, Grandeeney, Metalicana, and their precious dragonslayer's in the most painful way to steal their power. He will then find the dragon spirit and consume his heart. Acnologia will be unstoppable. He will rule the whole world exterminating those human vermin's. For now, he has to fight this determined blonde in her conscience.

She pissed him off. With her long blonde hair flowing loosely down her back and her honey brown eyes staring into the darkness with determination. That determination. Oh how he wanted to destroy that determination. He wanted to see her run away from him in pure fear. He wanted to see her cry. He wanted her to have no hope. She was like that at first, but then the meddling Spirit King interfered. He lent Lucy his power making the dark figure's life more difficult.

"No!" The blonde yelled in a rushed breath. "I won't let you take my body."

The figure growled.

"Can't you see you are past your limit?" He hissed. Lowering his large head down, he revealed his scalely face to the blonde woman.

It was true. The blonde was past her limit. Lucy was past her limit. Fighting with the dragon for what seems to be an eternity. Her body wanted her to stop. It was begging her to stop. Blood flowed down her wounds almost nonstop making her light headed from the blood loss. The burns on her skin have now taken a sickening color as bubbles appeared from them. Her breathing labored as she swayed from side to side. She barely had enough energy to hold herself up. Tears came down her eyes as she glared at the dragon in front of her. She refuses to let him win. She refuses to let him beat her.

The dragon watched in shock as the blonde's body became engulfed in yellow flames. The blonde was shaking her head no as she stumbled forward towards the dragon. Her honey brown eyes now a glowing yellow staring at the dragon with pure hatred. The fire of determination burned brightly in her eyes. Her magic seems to be getting stronger with each step she took. The yellow flames seems to be weaving in her skin sewing her wounds together. The dragon could smell the smell of burning flesh in the air. The yellow flames were closing her wounds shut. She was healing herself right in front of his eyes.

"No!" Lucy moaned. "No! I won't let you beat me. I can't. I have a family to get to. A son to raise. A man to love. And dragon's to protect."

"Pathetic human." The dragon sneered. "Don't you see you are wasting you energy. This is an unwinnable battle for you."

"No it's not!" Lucy yelled. She lifted her hand towards the dragon pointing her finger at him. "It is unwinnable for both of us. None of us will win. None of us will lose. I will fight you off for eternity if I have to. I won't let you take my body! You will not consume me."

Acnologia let out a roar. He was furious. He was beyond furious. The dark dragon breathed in filling his lungs with the life force of the darkness. He felt his fire burning to life in him. His white eyes glaring at the powerful blonde in anger. He will not let her win.

Without a second of hesitation, Lucy lifted her hands up chanting in a foreign language. The flames on her body exploded out. A large magic circle then appeared in front of the blonde. Lucy's hair whipped violently with the wind as she continued to chant. Each second her voice getting louder and louder. The flames moved from up her body to her hands then around the floating magic circle. Planets then appeared within the circle.

"Flames of the starry skies!" Lucy finally roared.

A loud explosion echoed from the magic circle as the yellow flames bursted out. The small planets spiraled with the flames making the speed faster and the spell larger. As the flames moved towards Acnologia, he also let out his blue flames towards the blonde with a loud roar. Both fires collided causing a great and bright explosion. Acnologia and Lucy yelled in pain as they both flew back on opposite sides. They rolled painfully on the ground until they slowed to a stop. Steam rose from both bodies as they laid on the ground groaning.

Lucy laid on the ground breathing hard with her head down. She cried out as she lifted her weak hand up in order to lift herself off the ground. Her hand shook furiously under her weight. Tears streamed down her eyes as her body felt like it was the temperature of the sun. It stung and ached for her to stop. It wanted her to rest. But she can't rest.

"Why?" Lucy breathed out looking down to the ground. Tears splashed on the ground one by one. "Why? Why do you hate humans so much!" She yelled snapping her head up to look at Acnologia.

"You are pathetic weak insects." Acnologia sneered. The dragon let out a groan as he stood on all fours. He let out a loud hiss as he attempted to move his wings with no avail. She broke his wings. "You don't deserve to live. Humans are a nuisance." The large dragon watched as Lucy attempted to get up with a groan to only fall back down. She yelled out in pain. "Look at you! You cannot even get up. Just stay down human. Give up this fight. We have been fighting to long and I have grown bored of playing with you."

Lucy's eyes widen in horror. The honey brown orbs furiously shook in fear. He was just playing with her? No that has to be a lie. Lucy looked at Acnologia walking towards her. His wings dragging behind him. Some of his scales looked burned beyond belief. He was even limping slightly. No she damaged him. She damaged him more than he wants to admit. Lucy groaned as she attempted to pull herself up again. She ignored the stabbing pains that her body screamed. She ignored the fact that her whole right thigh was burned beyond belief. She ignored the fact that she could barely breathe properly. Or even the fact that her left shoulder was dislocated. Her eyes stayed trained on the wounds that Acnologia held. He is damaged to. She did that.

"Ahhhhh!" Lucy cried out as she finally got herself to clumsily stand up. She swayed back and forth. Her arms limp at her sides. Her head looking down with her blonde bangs covering her face. "You're wrong." She breathed out darkly. Acnologia stopped right in front of her. "You're wrong about humans!" She continued. Lucy looked up at Acnologia's enormous body. "We are not weak. We are not a nuisance." Acnologia roared in annoyance. He breathed out his flames towards Lucy. Lucy jumped out of the way. "We are strong." She yelled. Acnologia continued to go to strike her, but she kept dodging. "We are compassionate." Lucy ran towards Acnologia her hands a lit. Once she was close enough, she pushed her feet down using her magic to her lift her off the ground. She launched herself in the air towards Acnologia's head. The dragon looked up in anger. He lifted his tail towards her. "Humans are not weak insects to squash."

Acnologia's tail slammed into Lucy causing her to fly back with a yell. Lucy flew back at amazing speed. She cried out as her back crashed against an invisible wall. Dropping to the floor with a loud thud. Lucy groaned out. Her body exhausted. Her magic done. She used it all up in her last move.

"Pathetic." Acnologia growled.

Lucy's lips tilted up into a smirk as she weakly lifted her head up.

"We – we are a force to be reckoned with." She simply let out.

Just as she said those words magic circles appeared all around Acnologia, shocking the dragon. The magic circles went all around the dragon from were Lucy ran. She planned it all out when she ran towards him. As she yelled at him she casted a spell to put magic circles everywhere she ran. She was trapping him. And she succeed.

"When did-" Acnologia let out, but he never finished for the magic circles exploded all around him.

Lucy watched with a soft smile as the dragon roared in pain at each explosion that happened around him. Her eyes without warning then closed slowly as her head lowered to the ground. She felt numb all over. She can't move. Acnologia was right earlier. She went beyond her limit.

Lucy softly thanked the Spirit King under her breath then apologized for she couldn't go on anymore. She was too weak. Every bone in her body broken. Her skin tender from all the burns. She can't move, but she made sure she did serious damage to the dragon. Acnologia should be down for a while. This should be done. It was a stalemate between the blonde and the dragon.

Oh so she thought.

Lucy's eyes widen horror as she heard an angered roar from the other side.

No!

This can't be!

She put all she had into that spell!

The ground shook under her furiously as loud booms echoed closer and closer to her ear. The stench of death and burnt flesh started to choke Lucy causing her to let out painful coughs. With each cough blood was spat out of her mouth landing on the ground with a splash. She groaned in pain. Her heart beat in fear as she weakly looked up to only see a raging dragon standing over her. He was covered in darkness, but Lucy could see his glowing white eyes stare at her with hatred.

"How?" Lucy breathed out. Tears went down her eyes. She put everything into that last spell. He shouldn't be able to move.

"Now you have angered me." Acnologia growled. "I am taking your body now!"

He lifted his large tail in the air. Lucy watched completely overcome in terror as she stared wide eyed at the tail speeding towards her. It was all slow motion to her. She couldn't move out of the way. She couldn't use her magic. She couldn't do anything. Tears continued to stream down her face as she felt hopeless.

No.

She can't.

She won't.

Acnologia's tail turned into a dark shadow moving at an alarming rate towards her. Lucy closed her eyes slowly. She cried softly to herself as she saw images of her loved ones in her head. The guild, the dragons, her sister, her son, and Natsu. He was smiling his toothy grin she loved so much. She didn't even get to tell him how much she loved him. She didn't even get the chance to make him trust her again. The last time she saw him was when she dropped from the ladder. His screams of the fear for her echoed in her head. Lucy wishes to see his toothy grin one more time. She wishes to go home and find him and Happy there eating her food. She wishes to spend the day eating ice cream next to a lake while watching Natsu teach Taiyo how to fish. But these are only wishes. She will never see that for she was too weak to even move.

At least, she will join her mother and sister in the other world.

Before Acnologia could strike the weak blonde a dark figure immediately jumped in the way. Long ice swords appeared on the figure's hands then crossed in front of them. The dark figure stood in front of the attack protecting Lucy. A loud screech echoed in the darkness.

Lucy opened her eyes in shock to only see the dark figure stand in front of her protectively. Acnologia's shadow tail was slamming into the ice swords attempting to push the intruder back. Lucy's eyes studied the figure in shock. She could see red hair shining from under the dark hood the person wore. Red hair?

"Cindy?" Lucy moaned out in confusion.

Acnologia roared as he strengthened his attack. The dark figure's leg dug into the ground as she was pushed slightly back. She gritted her teeth putting more strength to her arms. With a loud yell, she pushed back against the force of the shadow. She uncrossed her swords sending a strong gust of wind out. The shadow flew back along with Acnologia. The hood slowly fell down the tall girls head revealing shoulder length red hair. The girl turned her head to the side to stare at the blonde on the ground. Her honey brown eyes softened as guilt swam in them.

"Sorry, I'm late." She breathed out.

Cindy turned fully towards her sister with a soft smile. She bent down lifting her hand up placing them carefully under Lucy's arms. Lucy let out a painful groan as she let her sister help her up into a seating position. Cindy raised a small ice wall in back of Lucy. Letting the blonde's back rest softly against it. The red head then stared down at Lucy's wounds in shock. Tears threatened to escape her eyes as she overcome with anger. That dragon will pay.

"Wha-how?" Lucy breathed out in confusion.

"They are bonding us together." Cindy breathed out. "The dragons and Taiyo are doing it right now on their end. I have to do my end." Cindy lifted her hand towards Lucy. "We will catch up when we return to the dragon realm, I promise."

Lucy could only stare in shock as she processed everything in her head. Cindy's body glowed brightly as she started chanting softly. They are going to be bonded? But that is dangerous. Lucy's mind raced in fear. They brought Cindy back to life in order to save her. A new set of tears streamed down Lucy's face. Don't they know how dangerous it is to bond them together? They will bond in magic, life, and age. The bond will force Cindy to age to Lucy's age. The bond will shave off years from her little sister's life in order to equal their ages. It was forbidden. This is forbidden. If one of them dies so does the other.

Cindy's hand turned to water as sparking yellow orbs flowed to her fingertips. Just before, Cindy could complete the spell. Just before, she could be bonded with her sister. Just before, her water finger could connect with Lucy's forehead, she was flung to the side.

It was like déjà vu. Lucy watched in horror, a shout escaping her mouth as Acnologia dug his claws into the red head then flung her to the side. Tears came down Lucy's eyes as she screeched no. Acnologia laughed at the scene as Cindy's body laid on the ground a couple of hundred feet away. Blood oozing out of her fresh wounds covering the ground. Lucy was yelling her frustration at the fact that she couldn't go to her sister. That she couldn't move her body.

Without wasting any more time Acnologia let his body turned into a giant shadow. Lucy turned back to the dragon. Her honey brown eyes widen in horror as the shadow dragon's body raced towards her with the intent of consuming her. Cindy lifted her head weakly just in time to see her sister screeching no at the same time as the dragon's shadow slammed into her. The shadow was forcing himself into Lucy's body causing her screams turn into roars. Cindy's eyes widen in horror at the site of Lucy's body thrashing around on the ground. The shadows disappearing in her.

"No!" Cindy groaned forcing herself to stand up.

She continued to stare at Lucy's thrashing figure. Lucy kept screaming in agony as her bones bent in different places then went back to normal. A long dark tail bursted out from her lower back as horns grew out of her head. Lucy was now on her stomach screaming into the ground her back was arching up into the air. Cindy flinched in fear as she kept hearing Lucy's bones crack painfully. Large bumps formed on the screaming blondes back then soon enough large dark dragon like wings burst from them. Blood flew everywhere and flowed down Lucy's back. Lucy let out a blood curling screech as her hands came out and extended into claws. Her mouth opened wide as her teeth extended to fangs. Cindy's body shook in terror.

Her sister.

Lucy.

Not again.

Blue markings started to cover Lucy's body. Steam raised from the blue markings as the smell of burnt flesh filled the air. Dark scales slowly faded into her skin in patches around her body. Tears came down Lucy's eyes as she stared at Cindy. Her honey brown eyes held so much agony from all the torture she was suffering now.

"Kill me!" Lucy begged her sister.

Cindy's eyes shook as she felt her body being overcome with rage. Her teeth clenched tightly as she stared ahead. Her hands fisted firmly at her sides. She was shaking in fury. Unconsciously, Cindy's body started to freeze her claw wounds shut preparing for a battle. Cindy watched in slow motion as Lucy's honey brown eyes was slowly covered in white blankness. The screaming subsided and now only heavy breathing can be heard. Lucy stood up slowly in silence.

"Finally." Lucy opened her mouth but a dark evil voice came out. Acnologia has taken control of Lucy's body. The dragon looked down examining his new form his disgust. His tail swayed from side to side slowly. "This new form is repulsing. As soon as I leave here I will have to kill the dragons in order to take their powers. This form might turn into a more powerful dragon than I was." The dark voice laughed.

Cindy took a step forward. Her body shaking in wrath as tears went down her eyes. One hand covered in water while the other was covered in ice. Ice like scales stared to cover the red head's body as water started to flow through the scales. The water and ice dragonslayer was pissed. A low growl echoed in her throat capturing Acnologia's attention. Lucy's lips lifted up in an amused smirk as her now white eyes stared at the scaled dragonslayer in amusement.

"You will not take her." Cindy growled under her breath. "I won't let you out of here. I won't let you escape. I am going to take my sister back with me." Ice spikes formed out of her arms. Cindy stared at her sister's dragon like body with determination and anger. "You will pay for everything you did to us. You will pay for making me fight my own sister."

Cindy let out a roar as she sent the ice spikes flying towards Lucy. She ran towards her with a purpose.

Cindy was bringing Lucy back. Cindy was taking Lucy home no matter what.
