Well; here's Chap. 23 in time. Honestly; I thought I was not going to be able to post this up ever. The connection on my end is so slow, because of the snowing here. Plus I'm just really depressed. So I wrote it regardless to keep my mind busy. I hope you enjoy; and sorry if there are any mistakes. I just wanted to post it already. Enjoy.
Chapter 23: False Promises.
The irritation was felt from miles. Matt had that feeling of discomfort again, as he saw Sayu had no means of picking up her phone for anyone. Matt had a gut feeling things we're a bit sour, but none the less; he kept attempting to call her cell phone.
"Don't bother with calling anymore for a bit Matt. Can't you see she's probably still asleep?" Commented Mello while having his eyes glued to the computer screen.
"Did something happen between you two that I should know about Mel's?" Questioned a slightly worried Matt.
"Nothing. Nothing is wrong. What makes you think that Matt?" Mello questioned back; eyeing his best friend curiously.
"I don't know... I mean... Do you think she knows anything? It makes me think that because of those blank stares she gives us. If you haven't noticed..." Said Matt with a shiver.
"Those blank stares Matt; are nothing but a way that woman use one of many of they're arsenals. Weapons that are only a bluff to make you think they know something so you can spill it. Spill to them everything..." Mello said quite confidently.
Matt stared at his friend for a bit. Contemplating whether to believe it or not. His head started hurting a bit; as thought someone just flung a bat at his head; or something along those lines. His hands felt cold, and tingly as he held his hand held game. Pressing at the buttons with slight pressure, as his virtual self died in the game he was playing for awhile. The screen flashing "Game Over."
"Stop worrying so much Matt. It's all just a women's bluff. Don't panic." Mello reassured a nervous Matt who continued his all the while to preoccupy himself with his game.
Matsuda all the while sighing in the corner; feeling numb from barely no movement.
"All these humans have always some secret hiding from others. Where's the team work here?" Sidoh thought to himself, while munching on chocolate covered strawberries sitting on a plate there. The sun shining on them so delicately.
...
The bags we're being packed. The flight was to leave this afternoon. Sayu left Maria in the care of her best friend Rose; who delightfully took her. Sayu thank Rose for her continuing support, and bid them both farewell. Temporarily.
She had told them she needed to fly to Japan on a emergency, and to tell no one of her whereabouts. No one informed her of nothing these days, so why should she do anything as kind as that; she thought to herself. It was time to figure out things. With or with no help. She smelled something foul; and was not going to get caught in it; without at least knowing. Sayu was not at all up for playing victim this time. Not without a struggle, not without a fight, and certainly not without no knowledge of things going on around her. Her brother being Kira was enough.
Stopping by Rose's brother's house; she requested a haircut, and he obliged. If she was to investigate things; she could at least cover her appearance a bit, and since she had read all the rules of the death notebook. She would certainly need a better disguise then a hair cut. Rose's brother bid her a farewell, and off she went for Japan. Mogi had hung up in her face once she started asking questions; so she thought it would be time for a visit. That, and to check on her dear mother.
Sayu Yagami boarded her flight.
The sun was setting, and as that happened; the clouds we're rolling in. She rested her head on a pillow she had bought. "It would be a long flight; might as well sleep it through." Sayu whispered to herself.
...
Mello and Matt came by after no replies.
There on the door was a note attached. It read the following:
Dear triple Ms,
I'm off to visit a friend. Don't panic for me. I'm an adult who never was asked to be taking care of like a child. I appreciate everything you guys have done. Maria's with Rose. So if you feel the need to visit her. She's in safe hands. You may see her while I'm gone. I promise I won't be gone to long. Hugs.
Love, Sayu.
"What the hell...?! Why could she have not let us know. Instead she leaves abruptly like that?!" Mello questioned rather frustrated.
"Don't worry Mel's. She's an adult. She's right. Tailing her constantly will only push her further away. Matsuda also needs to realize that. I knew this mission of his was not going to sit well with Sayu. And you know that better then anyone." Matt said, trying to reassure his best friend by the shoulder.
"I'm really selfish aren't I Matt?" Mello questioned with a sigh. Running his hand through his hair a bit angry at himself.
Matt din't answer. He din't need too. Mello could tell by his friend's glance that they knew each other better, and that they would strive to do better next time. Perfect; if it ever we're to exist.
...
Once in arrival to Japan. Sayu entered a public bathroom to take a look at herself. She looked different with her hair shorter. Almost like her mother's, but her mother's was longer by now. At least she was told that. The whole time she wore dark shades, and a mouth mask. Giving the impression she had a cold. Her face was well covered; also by the much thick strands in front of her face. "God I look like a weirdo." Sayu complained to herself, but never the less she needed the protection.
Sayu headed out from her temporary hiding place, and kept her walking pace normal. She stayed calm. She wanted no one noticing her. She rather act like a ghost. It was easy that way. Until whenever the actions of a poltergeist was needed. She learned a lot in the police force for awhile. Sayu stopped in her tracks when she felt the person she was expecting to tail her. Turning her head to look at the waited company. "I'd thought you never show? What took you so long?" Sayu questioned the new arrival.
"I was told to keep a low profile. That's what Near wanted of course." Spoke the new company, but all to familiar face.
"Well then; let's go." Sayu said; leading the way. The guy following behind. This time being Sayu Yagami's choice of course.
"Is your promise to return soon false by the way Mrs. Yagami? Asked the one tailing Sayu.
"Well, I guess so. I don't know exactly if I'll even make it alive. Might as well have fun in case right?" Sayu asked with a smile spread through her sincere looking face.
Well, hope you guys enjoyed it. Love you! Take care please. Now excuse me while I go hear Frank Sinatra's: I'm Gonna Live Till I Die. ~~~
