This has not been a great week. It's been nothing but non stop misery... Regardless. I'm glad I got this uploaded. I thought I was not going to get to it. I try to not let my readers down. So... Yeah. Enjoy lovely people of my heart. BTW, Mattie's birthday is coming this coming 1st of Feb. Hopefully I can draw something up. I got started on it, so hopefully life does not further get in the way... On to the story...
Chapter 28: Reminder.
All members of the Anti Kira Organization stood silent there in the waiting room. All feelings dormant now. No one spoke, or addressed one another. The two rivals held nothing but the same usual cocky attitudes towards each other. Everything was a competition to Mello and Near. It had been that way since they could remember. It was sort of like Natural Selection at the moment. An uncomfortable topic among's humans who are supposed to handle things in a much higher way. Eventually thought; everything falls into instinct actions. No words; just actions.
"So we've come to terms then...?" Matt dared to break the silence. Making Mello cringe his face in disgust.
"I guess I can put my differences behind for now. For now. I'll win either way working along side you Near. So be aware of that..." Mello said in a low menacing voice towards Near; glaring daggers at his opponent as always. Taking a bite of his chocolate.
"I have no problems with that Mello. I'll encourage you on." Said a satisfied Near.
...
"So Sayu Yagami... Why not try my suggestion?" Questioned the red eye'd Shinigami.
Sayu kept her gaze on the notebook of death. Her hands debating on opening the book, and writing on it's pages of choice. Such a power was in her hands. A Shinigami's powers...
She read;
How to use it...
The human whose name is written in this note shall die.
That alone made Sayu close the contents of the book shut. Glaring back up at the creature that had tried tempting her. The Shinigami.
"I will not kill anyone. You can do it yourself. In fact; never mind. I'll keep the notebook. No one else will have it. I'll be forever the owner. But I'll never use it." Sayu said; changing her mind swiftly.
The creature bearing the red eyes could only glare at the young woman. He'd kill her if she was someone else, but if he could not do it before; what made him think he could do it now. He could never commit such an act towards her. As much as he hated to admit it. Yet all he wanted was to see blood. Blood from fools who did not know what they we're missing. The air around them was thick and cold; silent, and dark. Sayu had taking action; and hid the notebook quickly under her pillow. Laying her head upon the lie she hid; probably to hide forever. Hiding it just in time; seeing Mello enter the room to be beside her.
Mello stopped in front of Sayu's bed side.
His eyes showing anger, but slowly softening as he saw she was awake, and alright. Sayu looked back at Mello; before letting out a sigh to speak, but she was quickly interrupted by Mello's sudden embrace. It caught Sayu off guard, but she soon came to realization of Mello's worry for her; and she could only apologize for the moment.
"I'm sorry Mello. I'm sorry I worried you..." Sayu whispered in the blond's ear.
Mello held onto her as thought she would disappear. Evaporate from site. One hand holding onto the back of her head.
"You stupid girl... You scared me to death, and made me go through all those stupid emotions." Mello said; still displeased with Sayu for what she had done.
"I'm sorry Mello, not for my choices, but for worrying you. Don't take it personal, but I'm an adult. Not a child, not an infant." Sayu said back; no regret found in her voice.
The tension grew as things remained quite.
Sayu could feel the agitation flowing between them. The Shinigami hovering over her was not helping as well. Things we're clouded right now, and no one seemed to notice that she was of age to be making her own choices. Yet here she was; being scolded for her brute actions of survival comes first. At least her efforts we're towards living; not giving up in life. No one understood thought...
All the while Matt was beside the outside of the door; where within held Mello and Sayu. He was self consciously face palming himself. Everything today was a ticking time bomb for anyone crossing each others path. Like two predators fighting over dominance. "What's up with everyone...?" Thought Matt to himself. Everyone truly was in each others throats. Aizawa was right...
Mello glared at the wall. Not wanting to look at "his" woman in such a manner.
"Well Sayu, I only came here to remind you that I'm not giving up on you. So deal with me being on your back constantly, because I don't give up without a fight." Mello said; turning his heel to walk off; Matt trying to be quite; escaping from the scene as best as he could.
Sayu could feel tears forming in the sides of her watering eyes. "Stubborn bastard..." Sayu had thought to herself. Wiping off any tears that dared roll down her cheeks. Revealing the weakling she felt she was at the moment.
"And I'm leaving as a reminder to you; that I'm a grown woman; who makes her own choices." Sayu repeated to herself; as she did before countless times. Tossing the covers to the side; taking the death notebook with her.
