Author's note- It's finals week, everything is crazy. Holidays are around the corner, those weird relatives that you celebrate Christmas with are in the near future. My world is a little out of control and I should probably studying right now. But you know this chapter was calling me. So I cried a little (alot) while writing this. "I can't lose him,not with this baby on the way.", Jenny cries

"I'm so sorry Jen. I wish there was something I could do. But I can't. ", Soda says in tears

"I refuse to believe he's gone. He promised.", Soda says his voice breaking

"Darry's my beloved, I will wait for his return.", Jenny says

"God, I can't just sit here and listen to you.", Pony says screaming

"Calm down, little brother.", Soda say

"Damn it, Soda. He's gone, he left us. Alive or dead, he left us. He left us for that damn war. We are really all on our alone and who says he'll magically come back. People die Soda. Mom, Dad, Johnny and Dally died. Superman is human, a bullet can kill him. ", Pony says fuming

"I don't give a damn what you say. I know he's alive.", Soda screams

"It doesn't matter who you are. A bullet can kill you, Soda. Dally died when those bullets hit him. Darry can die the same way.", Pony says

"Did you not here that man, Pone? Darry's a hero, a war hero. He doesn't deserve that disrespect .", Soda says

"Soda, he's my hero whether he's alive or dead. He's my hero, not because of the damn military says so but because he held our family together. ", Pony says in tears

" He is holding our family together.", Soda says his voice hoarse

"He's having a baby, he's a daddy. Soda, I know what it's like to not have parents. I don't want that for his little baby. A child deserves both parents, and it's not fair if he doesn't have his daddy. Do still remember what Dad was like? How he used hold us when we were scared? Or how when you were supposed to be asleep, he would come , kiss your face and say "I love you." ", Pony says

"I do and it tears me up. I can still hear Dad's voice whispering "I love you." ", Soda says

"Darry is gonna make a great father. I just know it, he's amazing. ", Jenny says

"I pray to god that he is still alive.", Pony says

"He just has to be. He's our superman , he can't be gone.", Soda says

"Soda, honestly we have to face the facts. Two men were missing from the records. He could easily be one of those unlucky men who died. Or he could be alive. I'm just saying we have to be honest, the odds are against us. ", Pony says

"He's superman, he can take care of himself.", Soda says

"Soda, did you not see him after the accident? He's human and always has been. I remember that Darry who was weaken but fought his battles. He's this amazing person with inhuman strengths. But that's the kind of guy, Dar's always been. A mortal man with actual weakness, but he's so strong and capable.", Pony says

"This little baby inside of me, is a part of Darry and I. I don't know where he is, but a part of him is connected to me. I feel this little being kicking me, I know he's there. Darry is out there, I will wait for my beloved.", Jenny says

"Damn, you two. Stop it, stop. We are still a family and a family we would be. No matter the circumstance we will have each other " , Jenny says

"I just need to get out of this place.", Pony says all vulnerability showing

"Pone.", Soda calls.

"Damn.", Soda says

Pony bolted for the door as fast as he could slip those shoes on. Pony ran as fast as his slim and strong legs could carry him. The wind in his short hair and his feet beneath the pavement. Pony cried his tears as he ran, not caring who saw. He ran and ran without a destination in mind. He didn't know where to go, just knew he didn't want to be in that house. Darry's presentence filled that house, he could still feel that part of his brother. He didn't know where his brother could be or even if he was alive, but he didn't care.

Soda sits there and sobs. He fears he might not alone lost one of his brothers overseas but the brother sitting right next to him. Soda's thoughts were running a million miles an hour. Soda's body was racked violently with his pain was apparent and there wasn't a way to comfort him. He rocked back and forth, trying to calm himself.

Jenny knew she had to step forward, her family was falling apart and someone had to hold them together. In the face of fear, she let the tears flow and moved closer to Soda. "Damn, Soda. Pull yourself together, I don't know if our superman is alive. I just don't know at this point. But do you think he would want you two to act like this?", Jenny says her voice strong

"Don't touch me.", Soda says

"I will tell you Soda. He wouldn't like this at all. He could be getting his tail end out there and go after his brother. If he was him, in your shoes, he wouldn't lose his brother. I know that if you were away at war, he was fighting with Pone, he would go after him.

"Really, the great Darrel Curtis hit his brother and he ran away from his problems. You should have see that coward, he's not as great as you think he is.", Soda says coldly

Jenny raised her hand and slapped Soda. Soda was getting out of control and awful upset but had no reason to talk like that. Soda looked at her shocked after she raised a hand to him.

"I know about what happened when Pone was fourteen. I'm aware that Darry slapped Pone. I also know that Darry loves his family so much. He was just a stupid kid, trying to be a man. He made a mistake and fought to protect you guys. He deeply regrets that, he is so deeply sorry for that.", Jenny says her tone strong

"I should go after him.", Soda says

"I would hope so. Now get and think about what you did.", Jenny says scolding

"Yes ma'm.", Soda says

"No point in coming home, til Pone is with you.", Jenny says

"I sure hope Dar never gets in the dog house with that woman. Boy, she sure is something.", Soda mumbles

"I heard ya'.", Jenny says

"Thanks, Jen. I sure do love ya. Maybe sure that idiot brother of mine, marries you. You're a keeper, alright.", Soda says

"No doubt you idiot brother is going to marry me some day.", Jenny says

"Good, other wise I'd marry ya.", Soda says kidding

"Soda, you are the greatest brother-in- law on the planet.", Jenny says

"Oh, so we are getting technical now.",Soda says teasing

"Yes,brother of mine. If he doesn't ask me , I will ask that dork to marry me.", Jenny says

"God, I love you. Where were you when Darry was young and stupid?", Soda asks

"Oh, you know being young and stupid also.", Jenny says

"I better go.", Soda says

"Don't come back without your brother.", Jenny says tossing Soda the keys.

Soda jogged out to the car and climbed in. "I know just where that kid's gone.", Soda thought. Soda drove until he reached the spot he knew his brother would be. Soda parked the car and started to walk towards where his brother would be.

Pony sat next to the grave of his father, the one place he knew he could always find his dad. "I can't lose them both, Dad. I love them both so much. I ask that you watch over Darry where ever he might be.", Pony says

Soda silently joins his brother and wraps his arms around Pone. "I'm sorry.", Soda says

"So am I.", Pony says

"Does this get easier?", Soda asks

"I don't think it does.", Pony says

"I love you so much, Pone. I hope you know that.", Soda says

"I love you too. ", Pony says

"I just hope Darry remembers how much we love him.", Soda says

"I'm sure he does.", Pony says
