This song has been on my iPod and has drove me up the wall to write it.

The plot bunnies were biting at my ankles...but my writers block finally left!

And Voilà!

Disclaimer: Something Like That belongs to Tim McGraw and Danny, Sam and Tucker belong to Butch Hartman.

He looked at the flyer again.

Amity Park`s County Fair

August 30th – September 1st

Kids 3 and under get in FREE!

He instantly thought back to his favourite memory...back when he was 17. Almost an adult, yet still a kid...seeing everything in black and white until that one fateful day...

-8 years before-

It was Labour Day weekend I was seventeen
I bought a coke and some gasoline
And I drove out to the county fair

"That'll be $55.59, sir" the teen replied, his voice slightly squeaky. Danny handed him the money, grabbing his 6 pack of coke and headed out the door. As he walked to his truck, a flyer caught his eye.

Amity Park's County Fair

Labour Day Weekend

September 1st-3rd

Featuring Dumpty Humpty in live Concert!

He quickly called up Sam and Tucker.

"Dumpty Humpty? In CONCERT? LIVE?" Tucker yelled. "We, like, seriously need to go there man!"

"Tuck?" He asked.

"Yeah?"

"WOULD YOU STOP YELLING IN MY EAR?" he bellowed.

"Sorry!" he friend replied meekly.

"See you there!" Sam giggled before hanging up.

"Did she just-?" Tucker asked.

"Weeeeeeeiiiiiiirrrrrrrd..."

When he got there, he saw Tucker parking his car. He scanned through the crowd, his eyes resting on the person he was looking for.

His heart pounded against his rib cage. She was standing in the ticket line, buying their tickets. She looked over her shoulder with smile before waving to them. His cheeks grew a bright red.

When I saw her for the first time
She was standing there in the ticket line
And it all started right then and there

"Dude, you got it bad!" Tucker grinned. Danny glared at him.

Thinking back, he laughed. Tucker was right, but he didn't want to admit it to anyone...mostly Tucker. The kid couldn't keep a secret, plus it would also be used as blackmail. Yeah, he'd like to avoid that...

After they played on all the rides, the trio sat on the docks, Sam in the middle of the two boys. Tucker "magically" had to leave for...what did he say...supper or something. He winked and wiggled his eyebrows at Danny, which Sam saw and looked between the two, eyebrows knitted together.

The sun was setting over the horizon, a bright pink hue around it. He was sad that the day had come to an end. He and Sam had a great time...plus they had revenge on Tucker. The rollercoaster was a blast and they shared a stick of cotton candy.

Oh, a sailor's sky made a perfect sunset
And that's the day I'll never forget

He looked over at her. She was wearing a nice black halter top, red checkered mini skirt (which he preferred more than the black and green cross hatched. Her black sandals, which had beautiful little black flowers on them, sat beside her as her feet submerged in the water. She had somewhat of a tan across her shoulder, which sort of surprised him.

He looked at himself.

Simple white t-shirt with a barbeque stain from the barbeque they had during the summer (for one reason or another, it didn't wash out), jeans and his red sneakers and also his socks, which were beside him because his feet were submerged in the water.

She skipped a rock across the water. "Five...beat that Danny!" her ruby red lips curved in to a grin.

"Bring it on, Sam!"

They played and at the end, Sam had won. Danny didn't want to go empty handed though. He smiled evilly. Sam backed up slightly.

"What's a matter Sammy?" he asked.

"Nothing." She scoffed. He smiled again.

Walking up to her, he leaned down and pressed a kiss to her lips. She stood, frozen in shock. She relaxed after a while. His plan was working...and he got a bonus. Two birds with one stone!

But before she knew it, she was flying backwards. Quickly looking for something to grab, she grabbed his t-shirt. Both of them flew into the lake with a huge splash. When they resurfaced, she quickly swam over to dunk his head under.

"You FENTON" she cried when he resurfaced "Are so DEAD!" she cried.

I had a barbeque stain on my white tee shirt
She was killing me in that miniskirt
Skippin' rocks on the river by the railroad tracks

She had a suntan line and red lipstick
I worked so hard for that first kiss
And a heart don't forget something like that

Fast-Forward 5 years later on a plane to New Orleans. He was visiting Tucker and his friends, probably sticking around for the Mardi Gras that were supposed to happen that weekend. He was in deep thought when he heard the voice he'd thought he'd never hear again.

"Danny?" she asked.

Well it was five years later on a southbound plane
I was headed down to new Orleans
To meet some friends of mine for Mardi Gras

His head turned to face the voice, spotting her three rows behind him. He did a double take. It was her alright.

She quickly walked up to him, taking one of the two empty seats beside him.

"Probably don't recognize me...don't chya?" she smiled.

"You, Sam?" he asked, rolling his eyes and smiling. "How could I ever forget?"

When I heard a voice from the past
Comin' from a few rows back
And when I looked, I couldn't believe just what I saw
She said I bet you don't remember me
And I said only every other memory

I had a barbeque stain on my white tee shirt
You were killing me in that miniskirt
Skippin' rocks on the river by the railroad tracks
You had a suntan line and red lipstick
I worked so hard for that first kiss
And a heart don't forget something like that

Now that he thinks about it, he reached over to grab the photo album Jazz gave them. Sifting through the pages, he finds the one he's looking for. It's of him and Sam when they came back from the river. His short was damp and his hair was wild. He was smiling and you could see the laughter in his eyes. Her hair was plaster to her face and she was held by him at the waist and she was laughing.

Like an old photograph
Time can make a feeling fade
But the memory of a first love
Never fades away

I had a barbecue stain on my white tee shirt
She was killing me in that miniskirt
Skippin' rocks on the river by the railroad tracks
She had a sun tan line and red lipstick
I worked so hard for that first kiss
A heart don't forget, no a heart don't forget
I said a heart don't forget something like that
Oh, not something like that

He smiled at the old photograph before closing the book and heading for bed. He shuffled under the covers, turning to face her. Brushing a stray lock of hair from her face, he kissed her cheek before he himself fell asleep.

Sam opened her eyes and smiled evilly. Tomorrow, at the fair, she was going to push him into the river.

Revenge never seemed so sweet...

Yeah, the bunnies have quieted down and are sleeping...for now.
