Sorry for the late, short chapter. I'm studying for my AP bio class. We have a huge test on the first day. B/
Her skin was numb (or was it?), she was unable to feel anything (not that it was an unusual feeling to her). It was incredibly cold... or was it incredibly hot? Was this sand, or was it snow? She couldn't tell, her only functional eye (not that functional; but then again, nothing about her worked right) was buried in whatever substance it was.
There was blood everywhere... or so she assumed. Even though she couldn't see it, and she couldn't exactly feel if she was covered in liquid, her nose (the one nostril that wasn't buried) could clearly smell the familiar iron scent. It wouldn't be a coincidence if there was blood everywhere, she had taken quite the tumble down that damn mountain. How did she even get here? She had no recollection of ever coming to a mountain region-recently, anyway.
What was she going to do now? She couldn't move her body, couldn't see, couldn't hear very well either, and she couldn't even think straight. She was back to being a useless doll. Without her darling Alice (she prayed to the god she no longer believed in that Alice was unharmed), she couldn't do much of anything. It wouldn't surprise her if she wasn't even visible to the human-or monster- eye. There wasn't a doubt in her mind that the Protectorate was filled to the brim with abominations, so why wasn't any of them attacking her?
Well, it most likely wouldn't matter in the long run. At this rate, she was bound to die either from the extreme cold, or the extreme heat.
...Was it possible for her to die?
...Or was she already dead? Was she reduced to being a roaming soul... again?
But... if that were the case, then at least she would be able to see them again... or, at least her. There was nothing she wouldn't give to be back with her family again. Alice would be sad if she was dead, sure, but... Alice was a sweet girl. A smart girl that could easily be surrounded by people who love her, now that she wasn't around to ward them off.
She'd be perfectly fine without her.
