Life Together
The FBI crew heads to their homes to pack. Veronica is very frustrated right now. Another woman was murdered in Oregon by possibly the same killer as the three in California. They don't have any real evidence and the profile is mostly speculation. She calls Logan and updates him on the trip as she is driven home.
Logan is disappointed to find that Veronica is leaving but is resigned to the fact she has to go. He is mollified by her assurance that she will be back in LA for the premiere of the movie. Although he can tell her mind is on all she has to do before she leaves, she takes a moment to reassure her man, "It is important to you so it is important to me."
He is not surprised at her ability to multitask and he has to admit that he is relieved that he is on the forefront of her thoughts. He wonders if he is ever going to feel completely confident in their relationship. Still now after all these years and all his personal successes, deep inside he still wonders if he is lovable. He guesses that everyone has their secret demons but he has to admit that each time Veronica shows him how much she loves him, he is touched. He asks, "Do you need me to do anything for you while you are gone?"
Thinking for a few seconds, she tells him, "It would be great if you would have my dresses picked up from Evelyn's. I may not be back in time to try them on before the premiere, so if they are all here, I can just pick one to wear that fits me." Pausing as she thinks about what she has to do to get ready for the first premiere, she adds, "Could you confirm what time Dawn is coming to help me get ready? Other than that I am ready for the LA premiere."
Logan agrees to make the calls for her and then turns the conversation more intimate, "I will miss you. Please be careful." He has grown used to her being on the team and he knows that the guys on the team protect her. Touched, Veronica tells her husband she loves him and signs off. She has to get packed and ready to go.
While Veronica is in Oregon, Logan hears the front gate ring and he goes to answer only to find that it is Dick and John. He guesses his time of avoiding them is over. He tells the security guard to let them up and then depresses the button to open the front gate. Watching he locks the front gate after they drive through and then walks over to the front door to open it for his friends.
After offering them a drink, he heads into the kitchen to see what Mrs. H. left him for dinner. Hopefully she left enough for three. When he opens the warmer, he is happy to find that she made beef stew and fresh buns. His stomach growls as he gets them their beer out of the fridge.
Dick and John are surprised to find that Veronica is out of town. It upsets them that Logan has made no attempt to call them even though he is alone. It is telling that he has made no plans with them especially while Veronica is away. The three guys eat while John and Dick catch Logan up on what they have been doing and the gossip from their other friends and acquaintances. Logan does not talk much about his honeymoon or Veronica. Dick and John guess he is already unhappy with his marriage. They both try and get the underlying mood between them back to the relaxed way it was before he got married. John comments, "So we'll have to go surfing now you are back."
Nodding Logan agrees stating, "The surf was great in Hawaii but there wasn't any opportunity during the rest of our vacation." John looks at his dark haired friend worriedly. This is the Logan that most people get to talk to; he seems to be enjoying the conversation but he offers nothing about himself. John finds he doesn't like the feeling of being an acquaintance.
After dinner, the young men play some pool and then watch a movie. Finally around eleven pm, Logan stands and says easily, "I have morning meetings tomorrow and I still have some edits to work on so I think we need to call it a night."
John frowns and teases Logan that he is such a pussy now he is married. Logan shakes his head and answers, "This has nothing to do with Ronnie. I am behind at work because of the honeymoon."
Dick, concerned that Logan has been ignoring his calls and is still holding back even after their visit, starts, "I know Ronnie is mad about me bringing Madison to your wedding..."
Logan interrupts, "Veronica doesn't care what you do Dick." He steps closer and adds, his voice measured, "I am the one who is upset."
Defensive Dick tells him, "We didn't do anything wrong. We were just sitting there."
Shaking his head sadly at his friend, Logan points out, "I wanted you at the wedding because you are one of my closest friends and we have been through a lot together." He runs his hand through his hair in obvious agitation, "I talked to you before the wedding and you agreed to be on your best behavior." He makes eye contact with Dick and finishes, "Instead of respecting my decisions and accepting how important the wedding was for me, you were more concerned about your little payback."
John intervenes, "Look Logan, Dick was just trying to protect you."
"That's bullshit," Logan waves his arms in his agitation as he turns his attention to John, "Bringing Madison wasn't about protecting me, it was about hurting Veronica. I don't even know why you would think I would tolerate that." Shaking his head for emphasis he tells them, "That is not how real friends act."
Immediately Dick argues, "I am your friend dude. I have been the one to pull you through the breakups." Earnestly he predicts, "Veronica is going to tear your heart out again. She doesn't care about you."
Logan's face darkens. "You are wrong about Veronica. You are so wrapped up in your hatred for her that you can't see that." Logan runs his hand over the back of his neck while he calms down. Finally he says quietly but firmly, "I don't want to talk about this anymore. You are my friends and Veronica accepts that. You two need to accept that Veronica is my wife and if you can't stop trying to hurt her, then we are done." He waves in the direction of the front door, "You can see yourself out."
Logan walks off towards his den. He goes in and the door automatically locks behind him. He can do a couple of hours work and then go to bed. He stands in the middle of the room Veronica decorated for him and takes a few deep, slow breaths to calm down. This room is his sanctuary and he feels the stress leave him as he looks around. He walks over to his desk and looks at the newest addition to his picture collection. It is one of the wedding pictures the photographer took. He and Veronica are standing in front of the water and they are looking at each other instead of the camera. This is Logan's most favorite picture in the world. The photographer caught Veronica giving him one of her special smiles that only he gets to see. He wishes Veronica were home. He misses her.
John looks over at Dick who is visibly upset. John merely says, "Shit." If he hadn't heard it himself, he wouldn't have believed it; Logan is upset enough to end their friendship. Dick also noted the finality in his best friend's voice.
Late the following night, Veronica telephones Logan once she is in her hotel room. He can hear how discouraged she is as she tells him that she should be home pretty soon. They are running out of leads and this case is quickly going cold. He checks, "He didn't leave any evidence again?"
"No physical evidence, " she confirms and then adds, "She clearly knew her killer and no one else can identify any new man with the victim."
"I don't understand why someone would kill recent widows," Logan muses, "Of course they are easy for an experienced guy to pick up and there is the obvious financial gain if their late husbands left them well off financially..."
Veronica thinks about it for a few seconds and admits, "That was our first thought but right now there doesn't appear to be a financial motive. The victims haven't spent the life insurance policies and none of them have made any suspicious withdraws or large purchases before they were murdered."
Thinking aloud, Logan mentions, "I wonder what happened to all the victim's valuables and their late husband's valuables?"
Uncertain where he is going with his thought, she asks, "What do you mean by valuables?"
Logan talks about how when his mother died, she had a lot of jewelry and her art collection. His father had three gold watches as well as some really expensive cuff links. He questions, "Most of these women are wealthy?"
"They weren't wealthy per se," she explains, "However their husbands all had good paying jobs and were financially secure before they died."
After a brief pause Logan comments, "This killer is smart. A really wealthy woman would have a security team checking out whoever she comes in contact with."
Immediately catching on she breathes out, "You're right! I am not thinking about these murders in the right way. The profile is not accurate on this guy. His motive has to be at least partially financial. We just have to figure out how."
Logan commiserates adding, "I will let you get some sleep. I just wanted to hear your voice. I miss you when you are gone."
His petite wife is immediately cheered agreeing, "I miss you when I am away. My bed is cold and lonely."
"I can't wait for you to come home," he agrees. He tells her that Scott is coming over the next night and is teaching him how to make ribs on the barbecue.
Immediately her mood lifts as she anticipates Logan making her ribs when she gets home. She sighs happily, "I can hardly wait for you to cook them for me."
Smiling he tells her, "Scott says he makes a red pepper barbecue sauce that is the best around so we shall see."
"That sounds really good," she admits.
Logan hears the fatigue in her voice and decides to let her go, "I will talk to you tomorrow night. I hope your day goes better."
"Thanks," she says absently as she thinks, "I love you. Say hi to Scott for me."
Logan smiles and answers, "Will do. Bye for now."
Veronica after hanging up, thinks about the profile. Logan is more comfortable with money. It is good for her to talk to him as he gives her a better perspective on wealth. She was looking for a money gain but there is a lot of ways to gain financially that she has not asked the victim's families about. Looking at her phone, Veronica depresses the button to talk to Phil.
While Veronica is gone, Logan ensures that they are both ready for the premiere, catches up on his work at the Foundation and gets a lot of work done with his new editor. He has to admit that he gets more work done when she is not around but she is a delicious distraction that he can't imagine not having in his life.
He makes time to get out surfing with the guys on a Saturday morning. The rift between Logan and Dick is obvious but Logan has a way of being unapproachable about certain topics and none of the gang feels comfortable bringing up the subject with him. Dick, who is one of the few guys who can really talk to Logan, doesn't seem to know what to say either so they all avoid the subject during surfing and the after brunch. Logan updates the guys on his news and they tease him about attending premieres again. He accepts their good natured teasing and asks Derek how his club is doing. Derek is enthused about the bands he has been able to book and encourages Logan to attend two Saturdays from now as he is sure the guys will like the new band he found. It's clear Logan is interested. He tells his friend he will get back to him but he thinks that Veronica will want to go. She has been busy at work and will want to cut loose. Derek although surprised at Logan's proclamation that Veronica will be ready to party, smiles and says, "Great, as part owner, you are always on the list anyways but I will book you a private area." He turns to the other guys and touches base on whether they would be attending that night as well.
Chiming in, Casey comments on how his girlfriend Vanessa enjoyed their night out at the Comedy Club. He adds, "She and Veronica made arrangements to go listen to a lecture at the University next week." The group listens interestedly to the fact that Logan's wife and Casey's girlfriend have become friends. Veronica has not gotten close to any of their wives or girlfriends. Casey likes Vanessa. She is strong, smart, interesting and she is self made. She graduated from law school by scholarships and student loans. Her parents were not in a position to help her financially. Although she has not said much, he can see that she doesn't have much in common with people in the group who have grown up wealthy. Casey can understand why she and Veronica get along.
Genuinely laughing, Logan comments that he is glad that the girls are going without them, "My sitting through lecture days are over."
Agreeing, Casey points out, "We should go to the casino that night. The girls can meet us there after if they want."
Immediately enthused, Logan opens his phone to mark the date, "We haven't been in a long time." The guys can see the easy relationship between Casey and Logan. They weren't surprised that Logan chose Casey to stand up for him at his wedding. It would have been very awkward for Dick to be in the wedding party considering his adversarial relationship with Veronica. Logan looks up at his friends and easily includes them all in the casino night saying, "Who is in for booking a poker room?"
Mike sits listening to the talk. He sees the rift between Logan and Dick. He actually understands why Logan made Dick leave the wedding. His wife would have been very upset if something like that happened at their wedding. Logan's friends had fun before and after Logan's wedding. The accommodations were first class and there was lots for everyone to do. Although the women in the group felt that the wedding was too small and informal, most of the men liked Logan's idea of combining a vacation with a wedding. Mike could see that Logan and Veronica were relaxed and had fun before their big day. When he looks back on his wedding, he mostly remembers how much time they spent planning it and how stressful it was worrying about all the details. He wishes he had enjoyed the experience of getting married more. The guys were not surprised that Logan got married. Although most of them can't imagine dating the pushy blonde FBI agent, Logan has wanted to be with Veronica Mars for a long time. They really like Logan and don't want to see him hurt again but this time, Veronica seems to be quiet and reserved. She doesn't cause any problems in the group and none of them can really complain about how she acts. Logan seems to be close to Veronica's family and he was clearly thrilled to be married so most of the guys are happy for him.
Headed back to Neptune, Veronica is more determined than ever to find this guy and stop him. The fact is, there is another dead widow and very little to go on. They were no closer to finding a motive when she interviewed the victim's friends and family. It didn't look like any of her or her late husband's things were missing. However she did get one of the victim's friends to admit that the victim had met someone and they were keeping it quiet because it was so soon after her husband died. Unfortunately they were no closer to finding out how this guy meets the widows, his motive for targeting the victims he chose or how he is able to date them with nobody finding out.
Logan is leaning against the car as gets off the private jet. A huge smile lights up his wife's face as she walks down the stairs and she almost skips over to hug him. He immediately lifts her off the ground and spins her around. Phil is amused and comments teasingly, "Ahhhh, newlyweds."
Logan smiles and while holding Veronica to his side, puts his hand out to shake Phil's hand. Phil introduces him to Mitch and Lester. He reaches over to shake their hands but they notice that he doesn't let go of Veronica. He nods a friendly greeting at Tom and Brian.
Curious Mitch questions, "How did you get into this section of the airport?"
Smirking Logan answers, "I rent space in a hangar here but I actually have security clearance."
Veronica seeing Mitch's confusion, explains, "Logan is a share holder of one of the airlines that comes here so was able to get security clearance."
Mitch looks a little surprised as that tidbit of information was not on his profile. He quietly says, "I see."
Veronica leans into her husband and listens as he talks to the rest of her team. When she was younger, she felt the need to protect Logan from others. Now he is so comfortable and relaxed in groups that she just watches him charm everyone. She is not surprised when Logan asks, "Does anyone need a ride home?" Tom and Brian tell Logan they left their cars at FBI headquarters. Logan easily offers, "We will drop you off there." Mitch, Phil and Lester also agree to the ride in the luxurious Echolls' car instead of waiting for an FBI vehicle.
On the way back to headquarters the team raids the fridge and eats the fruit and sandwich platter that Logan had ordered. Brian, Tom and Phil are used to Logan's way of looking after Veronica. They have been over to their mansion and have seen the couple together. Logan questions Phil about his availability to crew on Saturday morning now that he his back. Two of Steve's crew are going to a funeral so he is looking for help. Enthused Phil immediately agrees to call Steve when he gets home. He tells Logan he is thinking of taking his family out on the yacht on Sunday. Logan smiles pleased that Phil loves to sail. He tells Phil that he and Veronica are headed to Neptune for a family dinner on Sunday or they would tag along. Phil teases them that they are missing out as his wife is making her famous fried chicken. Veronica pretends to think about cancelling on her family while Logan texts the man who looks after the yachts to make sure they are ready for the weekend. She looks over and sees that Logan is instructing him to make sure the wine cellar is stocked for the trip. She smiles at how he is always thinking of others.
Mitch, watching the couple, says very little but he does see that Logan is all about Veronica. He was there to pick her up right off the runway. He had a larger car than he normally picks her up with in case someone from her team needed a ride. Then he had drinks and food in the car for her in case she was hungry. Veronica had not seemed surprised to see the food trays. Her new husband easily passed her the condiments he knows she likes while she was fixing her sandwich. He had reached in the fridge and pulled her out a Skist without asking her what she wanted. This is a man who knows his wife and is comfortable with her. Mitch also notices that Logan participates in the conversation but he is not open and does not say anything of importance.
Lester has read and heard a lot of negative things about Veronica's husband. Watching them together, he sees that Logan loves Veronica. He also notes that although she is not a girly girl and is tough and directed at work, she is softer and a little more open when she is with Logan. It is good to see as he really likes Veronica. She has become a good friend to him. He wants her to be happy.
Logan listens to the team talk and joke. He is impressed how they don't talk about work while he is there. He is very happy that she is fitting in well with the team. His attention is brought back by Brian who jokes about how Veronica works out with them a few mornings a week and she is getting tough enough to help them do the suspect pick ups.
Mitch sees that Logan does not like the idea that Veronica might do any leg work and watches as Phil reassures him that Veronica does go out but she only interviews people secondary to the crime. If a suspect is interviewed, he/she is brought in by Brian and Tom to headquarters.
Logan looks at the team and sees that each has their role. Phil is the one who ensures the emotional stability of the team and does the real profiling. Mitch is a man who has high expectations of everyone and himself. He knows how to get things done. He works with administration and pulls it all together. Lester is the information specialist. He looks uncomfortable in his FBI suit and he doesn't seem to add much to the conversation. Veronica described him as the male version of Mac when she first talked about her new team. Logan can see why Veronica would say that. In high school, Mac looked like she didn't fit in but now that he has gotten to know her, he has come to appreciate her sharp wit and quiet way. It is obvious that Lester adores Veronica as a brother would his older sister. Logan knows Brian and Tom the best. They both feel free to drop in when they want to go to the beach or just stay by the pool. Both of them are on the list and have security's number to get the code to the front gate. Brian and Tom are protective of Veronica and one of them usually accompanies her on interviews out of the office so they are Logan's favorite people.
When Logan dreamed of having a real home, he wanted family and friends to be comfortable coming over. He set up their master suite, his office and Veronica's office to have coded locks so that they were able to have their privacy but otherwise the rest of the house is open to the people important to them. He didn't want people to come to his mansion when he was younger. Most everyone acted so awestruck around his parents and he hated watching the whole phony situation. Plus he didn't want his friends to see his mother's issues with drug and alcohol dependency or find out about his father's abusiveness. He has since learned that most abused children feel the same way. He really liked living with Dick. It was like living with your brother who is one of your closest friends. The truth is he misses having Dick around more but Dick's continued animosity towards Veronica has limited the times that Dick can come over. It wouldn't be fair to Veronica to have him actually stay there when he is in town. She deserves to have a home free of anger and strife as well.
Logan has been able to talk to Casey about the issues between Dick and Veronica. He thinks that Casey is right and Dick does blame Veronica on some level for the disintegration of his family. Although none of the negative things that happened to Dick were Veronica's fault, her need to find the truth exposed Big Dick's fraud which changed Dick's home life and his standing in the community. Then the only family member Dick had left jumped off the roof of the Neptune Grande because he couldn't face everyone knowing the truth about his past and, of course, it was Veronica who discovered Cassidy's secrets. It wasn't easy for Dick to find out the secrets his seemingly sweet and quiet brother held inside. To add to his issues with Veronica, Dick had to watch how devastated Logan was each time they broke up. Logan is like a brother to Dick and it was hard to see him so hurt. Logan has accepted that Veronica and Dick will never be friends but he loves them both and there are going to be times that they have to be in the same place. He needs them to be able to be in the same room without any of their past animosity ruining the event. Casey who has been present for most of the times Dick and Veronica have been together has told Logan that Veronica has been careful to avoid conflict with Dick and his friends. Casey told Logan that Vanessa had expressed her reservations about the group citing that they cut people out of the group that lost their wealth or fell out of social favor. She felt that they would drop her in a heartbeat if she and Casey broke up. Logan frowned but he knew that Vanessa was probably correct in her assessment.
After the team is dropped off at FBI Headquarters, Logan pulls Veronica closer and says, "I am so glad you are home."
"Me too," she murmurs reaching up to pull him into a kiss.
He kisses her a few times but holds off the more passionate feelings until they are in the house and alone. Pulling his lips from hers he nuzzles her neck and tells her quietly, "I hope you aren't too tired. I have plans for us tonight."
Smiling she snuggles into his arms, wrapping her around him tightly. Taking that as her answer, Logan plays soft music and the couple is contented just to be close and enjoy the feelings between them. They discuss all the latest news from their family and friends. Logan tells her that he offered Keith and Alicia the use of the jet and apartment in Paris for some time away together for their anniversary next month. Smiling, Veronica thinks that is a good idea. Alicia had commented that she always wanted to go there and they deserved some fun time as a couple. She thinks about it for a few seconds and suggests, "We should all fly out to Kansas City, watch Daryl play and have some of the barbecue that Dad and Alicia were raving about after their last visit." Logan is agreeable and suggests she call Alicia and pick a date before the end of the season. Nodding into his chest she tells him that it sounds like fun and she will call Wallace too.
Saturday night, Veronica attends the LA movie premiere with Logan. The tall, handsome young man is walking the red carpet again; this time not as the son of two of the most famous actors in Hollywood, but as a screenwriter. His past history has spawned a few unauthorized biographies and movies of the week but Logan is notorious for refusing to talk publicly about his famous parents or his personal life. His new wife is also very private. She cannot be reached at the FBI and she never returns any phone calls that are not directly related to one of her cases. She sends all unknown numbers on her private phone to her security detail The Echolls' press agent refuses all offers for interviews on her behalf.
Logan actually shed some light on his feelings about his parents when he started the Lynn Echolls Foundation. He held an auction of all the movie paraphernalia and jewelry belonging to his father as well as all the gowns, jewelry and paintings that his father bought his mother with the proceeds going to the new foundation. The amount raised at the sale was in the millions. At that time he agreed to one interview for the auction. He stated that he was keeping the jewelry that most reminded him of his mother and the portion of her art collection that she picked out. Other than that, he was donating the things that held no meaning for him. It was clear that Logan did not want any reminders of his father but had strong positive feelings for his late mother. Any further questions about his parents were ignored but the continued animosity from the young man towards his father was clear.
Thankfully with their increased openness, money has not been an issue in their relationship. The sale of both their homes ensured that their joint account has enough funds to pay all their bills for many years. Busy with her job, family, friends and relationship with Logan, she has agreed to let the accountant handle all the bills. With time, Veronica has learned to just use her credit card to buy what she wants and needs. Logan looks over their monthly bills and he is not surprised to find that Veronica spends very little money on herself. He knows that she probably thinks she spends a lot of money on herself but of course it is not a fraction of what his mother or Trina spent. With her increased funds, she buys really good quality clothes enjoying the fit and comfort of more expensive fabrics but she is just not interested in wearing designer clothing and accessories. At home she most often wears comfortable jeans and t-shirts. She likes to get her clothes for work and going out from the shop both she and Mac frequent. Logan has to laugh at the identical looks of horror on Mac's and Veronica's faces when Alicia or Carmen suggest they go shopping. Veronica had quickly pleaded work obligations when Mike's wife suggested she join them to go shopping on Rodeo Drive.
The truth is, Logan loves how Veronica dresses. She is beautiful to him in whatever she wears. He is thrilled that she dresses for comfort. She has always been Veronica to him and he has always been Logan to her. It doesn't matter what they wear or own, their relationship is about love, not things. To Logan's delight, Veronica likes to wear sexy underwear and lingerie. Despite the rocky start she had discovering her sexuality, Veronica is now very comfortable with her womanhood. She is not afraid to be honest with what she wants and needs from him and is open to what he wants and needs as well. This is the Veronica that he knew she could be and he is absolutely thrilled that he is the man that gets to enjoy her confidence in herself.
Logan sitting in the car on the way to the premiere gently touches the necklace sitting so beautifully around her tiny neck. He comments, "I love the combination of diamonds, platinum and pearls." Veronica does not have many good quality pieces of jewelry. Throughout their time together, Logan purchased jewelry designed for her instead of giving her any of the jewelry that his mother got after her marriage. He wanted to start fresh with her; nothing tainted from the long line of abusive men in his family. He is excited to see her in expensive jewels. As he suspected, she looks fabulous in the matching pearls and diamond necklace, earrings and bracelet.
Looking up at him she says, "Thank you for having them made for me but I must reiterate that although I love that you spoil me, I love it more that you love me." Reaching up to caress his cheek she adds, "That is all I really want."
He smiles down at her and leans his cheek into her hand. He answers, "I know. When I buy you jewelry it isn't about showing you off or making a good impression. I just love how you look in them."
A little worried, she points out, "But tonight is your night. You should be spoiled, not me."'
He looks at her and shares, "I have always been spoiled, at least monetarily. Now I am spoiled by you emotionally. You look after me and I value that more than anything my father's millions ever bought me."
Tilting her head she tells him, "I am the lucky one Logan. You are the most loving, caring husband. Your mother would be so proud of the man you have become."
"Thank you," he murmurs as he pulls her closer and kisses her forehead, "That means a lot that you would say that."
The limo moves closer to the front of the line and Veronica looks up at Logan, "I know that the critics are going to love your screen play."
"I hope so," he answers as he looks down at her. He knows that he is so very lucky to be in a loving relationship. Having a successful career would be nice but it won't change how happy he is. He pulls her closer and tells her, "As long as you love me, that is enough."
"I do," she says, "I really, really do."
When the Echolls get out of the limo, Logan gets out first and then immediately reaches in to assist his wife out. Excited at the prospect of interviewing the media shy couple, the interviewer starts the conversation with what the couple is wearing. Logan looks polished in his Armani Tux with his expensive accessories. Veronica is wearing a halter black form fitting dress designed for her by a prominent petit designer. She has a very tiny waist and hips and the dress caresses her accentuating her petite frame. Her long blonde hair is pulled up and held at the top of her head with a diamond clasp and then falls down her back in curls. She also looks polished and put together. The reporter immediately notices her designer dress and jewels. When she asks Veronica, the tiny blonde admits who designed her dress and she easily tells the reporter that the jewelry she is wearing tonight is a not a loaner; it is a gift from Logan.
Logan easily answers questions about writing the screenplay. He reiterates very politely that he has never had any desire to follow in his famous parents footsteps as regards to acting. When he is asked about buying Veronica jewelry he merely states, "The most precious jewels are not made of stone, but of flesh. ~Robert Ludlum"
Veronica smiles at her husband and he puts out his arm and quietly escorts her to the photo area where she waits patiently while Logan poses without her. In true Echolls style, he doesn't wait for the photographers to say they are ready for her, he just puts his hand out for her to join him. He holds her hand for a few seconds and waits for her to meet his gaze. Then he gently lifts her hand to his face, kissing the back of it. The cameras continue to flash as he looks down at his wife and she looks up at him. After a few seconds of communication, he lets go of her hand and wraps his arm smoothly around her and they both look forward, posing for the cameras. Completely ignoring the instructions from the photographers or the planner, Logan gently directs Veronica towards the entrance of the theater escorting her inside.
When she gently teases him about being standoffish, he answers quickly, "If I don't want them, they will want me."
Smiling she teases, "Well I want you."
Pulled out of his thoughts about how the movie is going to go, he stops their walk towards their seats and looks down at her. He sees her love and belief in him. Touched he tells her, "The fact you want me is the best thing in my life; everything else is just window dressing."
Nodding she agrees, "I love my work but it is secondary to my life with you. I am so glad that you love your work and I am so proud of your success."
He leans down and gently kisses her. Although they garner a lot of attention, Logan is very easy with his walk and his manner. He smiles and greets the people from the movie he has met as they walk. After they are seated, the stars and director of the movie are escorted in. Logan is used to the pecking order of a movie premiere sits relaxed as he visits with the people sitting around him. Veronica interested in everything, takes note of how it works and teases, "Maybe you should have become an actor, then we could have walked in last."
He rejoins, "True but I would have been away for eight months to a year while we were filming."
Immediately unhappy at that thought, she says, "Well then, screenwriter extraordinaire, it is." He laughs at her, pleased at her unhappiness he would be gone so long.
The following week Logan is gratified at the success of the movie. He is relieved at the great reviews for his screen play. His agent is very excited and talks about already fielding a lot of calls about Logan's availability for new projects. He checks that all the preparations are ready for the premiere in New York and London.
Veronica and Vanessa enjoy the lecture and they elect to go to dinner afterwards letting their men enjoy the night at the casino. Logan arrives home very late to find Veronica already asleep. He is hyped up from the fun evening, good scotch and winning big at poker so he showers and immediately pulls down the soft quilt and covers so he can look at his wife. He loves how beautiful she looks asleep in their bed and it means the world to him that he is not alone anymore and he is loved.
Gently he gets on the bed and pulls her sleep shorts off and then slowly runs his hand up her leg, over her thigh, up over her abdomen under her sleep top to the middle of chest. To Logan's happiness, Veronica although sleepy, sits up and helps him pull off her top. Once it is over her head, she opens her arms for her man.
Wasting no time, he lays down beside her and leans over to kiss her really enjoying hearing her tiny moan of pleasure when his lips touch hers. Buoyed from his fun night, Logan deepens the kiss immediately grasping her face holding her head in place while he takes control of the moment. When he needs to take a breath, he pulls away from her lips and kisses down her cheek to her neck.
Veronica is smart enough not to let any fleeting annoyance at being awakened interfere with her sexy husband making love to her. She tilts her head giving him easier access to her neck and focuses on how good his lips feel on her skin. Into the moment, Veronica arches up into his lips, wanting more.
