Trouble finds LoVe

Logan sits on Casey's expensive leather couch and takes a long sip of the expensive scotch. His best friend watches concerned. When he received the call from Logan, he had readily cleared his schedule and agreed for Logan to come over. His friend sounded upset.

Dick, John and Luke had, at first, been put out that Casey had dropped out of their plans for the morning but after Casey told them that Logan needed to talk, John and Dick had been upset that they were excluded. John, though unhappy that Logan was upset, decided that he was likely having problems in his marriage, "I hope he has realized he made a mistake marrying Veronica."

Agreeing, Dick added, "I knew she would show her true colors once they were married."

Casey, annoyed with their attitudes, had pointed out that it was no wonder that Logan didn't call them when he needed to talk. He sent the guys on their way to beach telling them he might join them later.

Sitting across from his friend, he is relieved that nothing is wrong in his marriage. In fact, the couple is finding out about the possibility of having children in the future. Watching Veronica's emotional and physical discomfort is really hurting the young man who loves her so much now. He imagines that it is hard enough for most men to watch the woman he loves go through this testing but feeling guilty about contributing to the cause of her health problems must make the process doubly hard for Logan.

The young man in question leans back putting his head on the back of the couch. He closes his eyes as he tries to relax. Without opening his eyes he shares, "I want and need to be there for Ronnie. He pauses and adds, "It's hard." After a few minutes quiet where Casey doesn't really know what to say, Logan continues, "She was so nervous about the appointment yesterday, I doubt she slept more than a couple of hours."

Casey's heart melts for the tiny blonde who seems bigger than life in public but in private, is a scared, hurt little girl at times. He is glad that she has Logan to help her and he tells his friend that. Opening his eyes Logan meets his friend's gaze and shares, "She doesn't blame me at all for Cassidy raping her. She says that in her field a lot of people are put in bad situations and still choose to do the right thing." Taking a deep breath he finishes, "She says there were a lot of girls at 09er parties who were out of it. Many guys chose not to take advantage of them. To her a criminal has the sickness inside him and just takes advantage of an opportunity when it arises."

Nodding his agreement Casey says, "I can see what she means." There is a comfortable silence for a few minutes as both men think about their conversation. Casey looks closely at his friend and makes his point, "Logan Veronica has forgiven you. You have to forgive yourself. Veronica is right. Cassidy did not rape her because of you; he raped her because of his other issues." Leaning forward and making solid eye contact with his friend, he adds, "You both have made real strides in getting over your issues and you are good together. Hold onto that. She loves you and needs you. You are helping her by being there."

Nodding Logan says, "I hope so." He takes a sip of his drink and adds, "She doesn't deserve the pain I caused her, the pain Cassidy caused her and she doesn't deserve to feel less of herself because of that time."

Agreeing Casey continues the thought, "You didn't deserve your father's whippings, I didn't deserve my parent's mind control, Cassidy didn't deserve to be sexually abused as a kid, the kids on the bus didn't deserve to die, Lilly didn't deserve to be murdered and the people in the airplane didn't deserve to be collateral damage in Cassidy's plan."

Sighing audibly, Logan agrees, "You're right."

Casey quietly adds, "I am really sad that Veronica is facing this and she is hurting. You are right in that she doesn't deserve this but I am glad that you will be there for her. She has family and friends who will be there for her as well. She is not alone."

This time Logan's sigh is easier, "I know. It's just if I had my way nothing negative will ever happen to her again."

Laughing Casey shares, "I remember Veronica telling me that you and her father would put her in a hamster ball if you could." His laugh grows harder as he remembers, "She said and I quote, 'Nobody wants to see a blonde in a hamster ball.'"

Logan laughs as well, the tension he is feeling easing with the conversation. He remembers her complaining at a party about being coddled by her men. He hasn't admitted it to anyone but he is starting to think it would be really great to have a little girl to spoil and protect. Veronica having this testing is having the effect of making him think about them having children. She is right about their relationship. The longer they are together, the more he is thinking about forever. They lived together. Now they are married and she has made their mansion a home. Having a wife and family; it has been even better than he hoped. Now he is thinking about children and he is thinking they would add to their happiness. He turns his face to look at his best friend and says gratefully, "Thanks for listening to me man."

Touched, Casey looks back and answers, "No problem."

Surprising Logan, Veronica was just content to know if she could have children or not. Once they got the good news that although she has some scarring and will be at higher risk of having problems, she should be able to have children, Veronica did not mention the subject again. Deeply relieved that the news is positive, Logan is also content to let the subject drop for now. Time passes quickly for the young couple busy with work, family and friends. They continue to have date nights and weekends each taking turns with the planning.

A few months later, a new issue arises for the couple. Her security crew has noticed that Veronica is being followed. They look into who he is and why he is following her. When they reported the information to Logan, he was worried. If Veronica is aware she is being followed, she has given no indication of it.

Veronica does know. She immediately told Mitch per protocol and he started work on finding out who is following her and then why. Bryan and Tom follow him and get his picture. Soon they identify him and Mitch tells Tom to go and pick him up.

Phil sits watching Mitch interview the guy who has been following Veronica. He cannot believe what he is hearing. He is not even sure what to say to Veronica when she gets back. She is out of town with Bryan interviewing friends of the latest victim. They will be back shortly after lunch.

After the interview is over, Phil meets with Mitch and they both are disturbed by what they learned in the interview. They both can see that this is not going to work out well for Veronica. Mitch takes a sip of his coffee and shares, "This is going to affect her career."

Phil looks over at his friend. He doesn't even bother to voice the fact about the unfairness of the situation. He sighs as he stands, "I will call Logan and give him a heads up. I am sure his security team already knows about Mr. Gerada." He leaves the room not waiting for any further comment from Mitch; there really isn't anything to say right now. Once he is in his office he dials Logan's personal number. It is pretty early in the morning. Logan is probably working in his home office. Phil when Logan answers gets directly to the point, "Do you know who is following Veronica and why?"

Her worried husband knows he shouldn't be surprised that the FBI knows she is being followed. He says, "We have his picture and my security team is finding out who he is and why he is following Ronnie."

Phil explains, "The FBI requires that agents report any security issues. Veronica came to us and told us she was being followed. Tom and Bryan got his picture and ran it. He is a private eye. We brought him in this morning and talked to him. He was hired by Dick Cassablancas and John Engbloom, Jr."

Logan is quiet as he processes what he is hearing. Finally he asks, "What exactly did the PI tell you guys?"

He listens carefully as Phil tells him that Dick and John told him that they are sure Veronica is fooling around. She has a past history of being unfaithful and using sex to trap rich guys. The two men instructed the PI to get the proof by 'any means necessary.' Logan sucks in a breath. He knows what it means when you tell the PI that. It means that if he can't get proof he can manufacture it.

Phil adds his voice filled with humor, "I originally thought that the PI would pick me to use but alas I am not prime 'other man' material. Mr. Gerada chose Bryan." Phil carries on, "He has film, pictures and affidavits from hotel clerks and waiters at restaurants."

Logan closes his eyes and is quiet as he processes what he is hearing. He questions, "The guy is using Bryan to prove Ronnie has been unfaithful? " He pauses as he thinks about the ramifications of what he has heard. Finally he adds, "Can you send the information to the head of my security team?"

"Already done," assures Phil. He says, "Perhaps you can talk to this Mr. Gerada yourself? "

Logan assures Phil he will talk to the guy himself. He asks, "When are you going to tell Veronica what you know?"

Phil explains, "She is out of the office this morning. After lunch we will let her view the tapes of the interview." He pauses and says, "I am not anticipating she will react well to seeing the tapes." He adds, "She is a very private person."

Logan sighs as he thinks about how upset Veronica is going to be once she sees those tapes. He tells his sailing buddy, "Thanks for keeping me in the loop." Before he hangs up he says, "I haven't told you everything yet."

Frowning, Logan listens as Phil tells him that Mr. Gerada decided he can make more money selling the information he obtained to the highest bidder and he has sold the story to a TV entertainment show. Phil hears the expletive from Logan's end of the phone and tells him that the resulting press coverage will affect Bryan's and Veronica's ability to do their job. Logan is quiet and he then he says quietly, "Thanks for telling me."

After they hang up, Phil sits back and thinks about how Logan did not even consider that Veronica might be having an affair. It is clear that he trusts her. The thing is how Logan reacts now is going to be most important. If he doesn't react in a way that makes Veronica feel supported, her belief in their relationship will be compromised. He lets his mind wander to what he is going to say to Veronica and Bryan. They are both going to be upset.

When Logan talks to his security officer he finds that they have already located the PI and are on their way to his office. Logan goes out and gets in the car. He needs to be there when they talk to him.

Logan stands and steps towards Mr. Gerada. He is intercepted by his lead agent but he looks for a long second at the obviously worried PI and then he turns and leaves. Logan is deeply angry right now. A small part of him had hoped that what Phil was telling him was not true. His driver takes him to see Casey at Casey's office while the head of his security detail talks to the PI further.

Casey sits in his comfortable leather chair and he listens carefully to what his best friend is telling him. Logan angrily asks, "Did you know about this Casey?"

Immediately the brunette executive shakes his head in denial, "Of course not! I would have told you."

Logan deflates and he apologizes, "Sorry. I guess I am having trouble believing that Dick and John would actually try and torpedo my marriage after everything we have been through together."

Casey checks, "You talked to this guy yourself?"

Nodding Logan explains, "He's no Mr. Mars. This guy is more like Vinnie Van Low."

The young executive closes his eyes, "I can't fucking believe this."

Logan tells Casey that he doesn't talk to Dick or John about Veronica's job. He looks at Casey and explains, "The PI guy picked Bryan to pair Veronica off with. He had a whole portfolio ready for Dick and John to give me on Veronica's affair with one of the guys she works with; pictures, affidavits from hotel clerks and waiters."

Casey shakes his head and asks, "Isn't he the guy that is gay?"

Nodding Logan guesses, "Tom just got back from vacation so I guess that Veronica and Bryan have sent out together a lot while Tom was gone."

Casey looks at his friend and sees his upset. He grimaces as he asks, "What does Veronica say about it?"

Looking sick Logan tells him, "She is out of the office this morning so when she gets back she is going to have to hear from her boss that the guy following her was actually a PI hired to break up our marriage. She will get to watch the video of the FBI's interview with the PI. She is going to find out that Dick and John told the PI that they were sure she is fooling around on me because of what a slut she was in high school, crying rape when she was hitting on everyone at that party and of course bouncing between the two richest guys in the school and then of course she even made a sex video with a guy she dated in college." Logan pauses and takes a deep breath trying to calm himself down, "She is going to be very upset that her FBI coworkers are privy to the rumors about her in high school."

Casey honestly doesn't even know what to say. Dick and John both believe that Veronica is bad news for Logan but this is too much!

Logan's phone rings and he looks at who is calling and answers, "Logan here." Casey watches as Logan's face pales and he asks, "When did she leave?" After a few seconds silence, Logan tells whoever he is talking to, "Please call me if you hear from her."

Casey watches as Logan depresses a button on his phone and talks to the person who answers. From what he can gather Veronica left FBI headquarters and did not call for her security team. She left her phone in her desk drawer so she could not be traced. Veronica is off the grid. Logan hangs up from her security team and thinks about what they have told him. They did not see her leave the building. They don't know where she is and she doesn't have her phone so they can't find out where she is.

After a few moments of thought, Logan calls Keith and updates him on what is happening. Keith is understandably upset and reassures Logan that he will call him if Veronica contacts him or Alicia. Logan calls Mac and Wallace and they both agree to keep an eye out for her and promise to call him if they find out anything.

Logan sits back in his chair and closes his eyes. It is clear that Veronica is very upset after watching the interview with the PI. Phil says she didn't talk to him or even meet his gaze. She got up, went to her desk and then left the building. As her friend and team mate, Phil is worried about her. He tells Logan, "She looked absolutely crushed when she watched the interview." Worried himself, Logan tries to process what he has learned.

Casey interrupts his thoughts, "Is there anything I can do?"

Logan looks at his friend and sees his concern, "No, unless you have any ideas where Veronica might go."

Shaking his head Casey slowly points out, "No, my guess is she will call you when she is ready to talk."

Logan runs his hand through his hair and exclaims, "This whole situation is fucked up. It's my fault."

"How can it be your fault?" Casey questions.

"Well I am the one who orchestrated the vendetta against her in high school. I am the one who gave her the reputation as a slut in high school." He points out, "My family name made her a target of the paparazzi." He lists the rest off on his fingers, "Because she is with me, she had to lose her partner and change jobs. Now she has been humiliated in front of the new team she works with because of my friends. I was the one who gave them another chance after they tried to ruin my wedding. I am the one who kept them in our lives."

Casey looks worried and defends, "I don't know what to say Logan. You have been friends with Dick and John since middle school. Both of them have had your back too many times to count."

"Casey even if their hearts were in the right place, the fact is they tried to break up my marriage." Shaking his head he adds, "Losing Veronica would rip out my heart and I doubt I would recover."

His best friend quickly says, "I know man but Dick and John don't get how Veronica can be anything but bad for you. They are protecting you."

Deeply upset Logan tells his best friend, "When I was very young; before I realized that the home I had wasn't normal, I would see movies depicting true love and the perfect home and I would laugh because they were just movies. Now I have real love and a real home and I didn't protect it."

Logan stand abruptly and walks across the room and back while Casey watches very concerned about his friend. He stops in front of Casey's desk and looks at him. His voice breaks a little as he chokes out, " I keep being a part of her being humiliated. I told her she could trust me. I told her I would never let the 09er guys hurt her again and here she is hiding somewhere licking her wounds again."

Upset Casey reassures his friend, "It's not your fault."

"It is my fault," Logan tells him definitively, "I believed them when they promised me that they wouldn't interfere in my relationship with Veronica again. I trusted them and kept them in my life and now they have hurt not only Veronica but Bryan and Zack as well."

Casey points out, "You couldn't have anticipated this would happen."

"No," the tall dark haired man agrees, "But none of Veronica's family or friends ever interfere or say anything to hurt me. Even Weevil is respectful and polite because of his close friendship with Veronica. He hated me in high school and college. I guess I don't garner the same respect with my friends as Veronica does with hers." Logan looks a little helplessly at his phone. He can't even call Veronica and try to talk to her. Her phone is in her desk at work. The worried young man takes a deep breath and lets it out slowly. He tries to put his thoughts in some order. First he needs to find Veronica and try to be there for her. Then he can deal with Dick and John. He looks at Casey and says, "Please call me if by some chance you or Vanessa hears from Veronica."

Casey immediately nods and then watches as Logan leaves his office. He takes a deep breath and picks up his phone depressing a button on his call list. When John answers, Casey says, "We need to talk."

Deeply upset, Logan gets into the car and without any real direction where to look for her, he heads home. He will have to wait for her to want to talk to him. He will have to wait for her to come home to him. He knows that she will come home eventually but he also knows her well and she will go somewhere she feels safe. Somewhere where she can lick her wounds in private; but where? Sighing he gets out of the car when it arrives at the front of their mansion. He goes inside to wait. He gave a list of places she may go in LA and Neptune to his head of security. He will have them checked out. Logan needs to stay at home and wait for news now.

The first thing he sees when he gets in the door is a program from a musical he took her to on their last date night. That was such a great night; it is a microcosm of how much fun they can have together when life lets them.

After a long afternoon and evening of waiting, Logan's phone rings from a number he doesn't recognize. He has already talked to Keith, Mac, Wallace, Casey, Derek and Phil. None of them has seen Veronica or heard from her.

Logan answers and is relieved to hear Veronica's quiet voice. Immediately he asks her if she is OK and where she is. She answers, "I am at the Griffith Observatory." After a short pause while Logan tries to figure out what to say, his wife tells him, "I am going in to watch the show in theater A. Can you come and get me please?"

Immediately Logan heads to the front door to get his shoes and a jacket. He softly tells her he will be there as soon as he can. She hangs up without any further comment. Logan gets in the waiting car and heads out. He can't imagine why she is at the observatory but he calls and tells her worried friends and family that he is headed to pick her up now.

Keith, after Logan tells him Veronica is at the Griffith Observatory, is quiet for a few seconds and then shares, "Lianne loved it there. We used to go and see each new show that came out when Veronica was little. Veronica especially loved to sit in theater A and look at the stars and listen to the speaker point out all the different constellations. A little disconcerted, Logan tells Keith that Veronica is in theater A. The two men individually ponder why Veronica would go there now but Keith only says, "Get her to call me later. I will be awake no matter what time she calls."

When Logan arrives he buys his ticket to get in the theater and quietly opens the door and sneaks in the back careful not to interrupt the lecture. He immediately sees Veronica sitting in the middle dutifully looking up at the stars. Carefully he makes his way to sit beside her. She briefly looks over at him when he sits and then turns her attention back to the view above.

When the show is over and the lights come up, Veronica looks over at Logan. He can see that she has been crying but her tears are dry now. He takes a deep breath but before he can talk, she says, "I use to love coming here." Waiting he looks at her and reaches over to push her hair back behind her ear. She continues, "Dad, Mom and I used to come here before I met Lilly and Duncan, before you moved to Neptune, before Mom started to really drink, before Mom and Jake decided that what they wanted mattered more than their families." She pauses and adds, "I was always amazed at the vastness of the universe and every time we came, I learned something new."

He nods to show her he is listening. She turns to face him and carries on, "Back then life was pretty simple. I had the best father. He was a hero who protected everyone and my mother was the most beautiful and best mother in the whole world. I thought they both loved each other and me." She waves her arm towards the ceiling where the stars were during the show, "The world was out there for me. I could do anything I wanted and be anyone I wanted." She reaches over and takes his hand, looking closely at it and then playing idly with his fingers, "We used to make a day of it. We would come to the zoo and then here. We were just part of the crowd." She looks around and points out, "It hasn't changed much."

Logan turns his hand and takes her smaller hand in his. Sadly she says, "Today I went to the zoo and watched the families spending time together. I wondered what their future held. Would they just go through life, graduate high school, go to college, get married, have children and then bring their own children back here?" Looking up from their joined hands she adds, "I hope they do. I hope they don't have to live through what you and I went through."

Unsure what he should say Logan puts his other hand on her neck area so they are in a little cocoon together. He says very quietly, "Me too."

She looks back at him and tells him sadly, "That time after Lilly was murdered was the worst time. It felt like my whole world fell apart."

Logan leans his forehead to hers and has to agree, "Mine too." He pauses and adds, "Or the time after my mom killed herself might have been worse." He pulls back a little and meets her gaze assuring her, "You helped me through that."

"I know," her voice is sad. She lifts her other hand and very gently caresses his cheek. Finally she meets his gaze again stating, "I hoped it was over. I hoped that we were done with the past. I want to move on. I like the life we've built together." Her blue eyes are pools of worry and pain. She chokes out, "I want to work, be married to you, maybe someday have children and maybe take them to the zoo and here."

He reaches up and gently caresses her cheek with his finger. He agrees, "I want that too."

Her breath hitches and she cries out in obvious upset, "That doesn't seem to be in the cards for us Logan. Between the public's obsession with your past and now your friends' intention to rescue you from me, I just keep getting drawn back to that time." She bites her lip and takes a deep breath adding, "We can never get away from that time after Lilly died."

"Ronnie," he assures her wrapping his other arm around her, "We have a good life together. We are away from that time."

Tears pool in her eyes and he can see her upset and humiliation. She whispers brokenly, "Watching Mitch question the PI was awful. The things he told them about that time..."

Logan's arms reflexively tighten around her, "I'm so sorry Ronnie. I know that must have been awful for you to see," pausing uncertainly he then adds , "and hear." She tries to hold the tears in but they slowly and silently trail down her cheeks. She takes a deep breath and unable to talk, she just shakes her head. He reassures, "Your team at work, they know what kind of person you are. They won't believe what was said."

Her face blushes with color and it physically hurts Logan to see her humiliation. She whispers, "It will affect how they see me Logan." She puts her hand up to push her hair from her face and she adds, "It reminds me of when I had to tell my dad about that video of Piz and me. I was so embarrassed and ashamed. I know he loves me but it had to have affected how he sees me."

He doesn't deal with anger that way anymore but right now, seeing Veronica's pain, Logan wishes he could drive over and punch Dick and John. Instead he gently wipes the tears from her cheeks and tries to make her feel better, "Ronnie you and I are always going to have put up with the people who don't understand and just want to judge."

Quickly shaking her head she says her voice louder, "Phil, Mitch and the guys aren't strangers Logan." She sniffles a little and says her voice shaking and quieter, "It matters to me what they think."

"I know," he admits. He absolutely hates when Veronica cries. It doesn't happen very often but each time he wants to wrap her up in his arms and make her pain go away. He knows he can't but he feels the pain in his chest at seeing her in pain.

Choked she whispers so quietly that he has to lean in to hear it, "I don't know if I can face them tomorrow. What if it changes how they think of me? I love working with them. I am part of a team there. I belong." She sniffles and then adds, her voice broken, "What if Mitch makes me leave the team? What if that was my last chance with the Bureau?" Her voice fractures and she doesn't say anything more.

Her upset husband doesn't know what to say. He can't reassure her that her team won't drop her. He can't say it won't affect how they see her. He can't really tell her what is going to happen with her job and with her relationship with her teammates. This time knowing that he was a part of causing this pain makes it one hundred times worse. He is still in shock that Dick and John would try to break up his marriage. If they had brought the information to him he would have immediately known it was not true because he knows Bryan is gay but the truth is if they had picked someone else, it could have caused him to have doubts about Veronica and their relationship. Dick and John both know that Lilly, Caitlin and various others were unfaithful and it upsets Logan deeply that they would use his past to cause problems in his marriage with Veronica.

Now they have probably unintentionally humiliated Veronica and hurt her. The fact is Logan seriously doubts that they will care that they hurt Veronica and possibly hurt her career. They will probably rejoice in it.

The worst is yet to come. The PI sold the pictures and story. Very soon, the story is going be everywhere. It will be the second time the press has accused Veronica of having an affair with a coworker in the FBI. He doubts her superiors are going to be understanding about it. The last story also hurt Derek and his marriage. This one is going to hurt Bryan and Zack. This is a huge mess!

When people start to file in for the next show Logan stands and helps Veronica to stand. He says, "Let's go home." Nodding she puts her hand in his and tiredly follows him out of the auditorium. Logan pulls out his phone and dials for their ride as he escorts her towards the front door. She is keeping her head down so that no one will notice she has been crying. Her tall, handsome husband wraps his arm around her waist and pulls her close to his side. He protectively walks with her outside and sees that Dan is pulling out of the parking lot to pick them up at the front door. He pulls her into his arms and gently rubs her head as she presses it into his chest. God he hopes that no one takes their picture and sells it. She is already upset enough.

Dan sees how protective Logan is and how small and clingy Veronica seems. He sighs. He has heard about Dick and John hiring the detective, the FBI interview and his boss' interview with the PI. He also knows that Veronica left work and has been MIA since. It is not a good day for Logan and Veronica.

Logan sits with his arm around his wife and waits for the car to get them across town to their mansion. The ride has been made in almost total silence. Finally he says, "You will have to call your father later."

Unsurprised that Logan called him, Veronica says quietly, "I will." She will call him later but right now she just wants to be held by Logan.

When they enter the house Logan locks the front door and keys in the alarm code while Veronica puts her gun, holster and ID in the safe. The house is quiet. Mrs. H. went home and they are alone. Logan looks at her and asks, "Are you hungry?"

She takes a deep breath and lets it out slowly. Finally she nods and says, "Let's see what Mrs. H. left us."

He suggests, "We could have ice cream for dinner tonight." A small smile graces her face. No matter how upset she is, she still has Logan and he is good to her.

During ice cream for dinner, neither talks about the issues between them; both choosing to just be with the other for now. Although both are upset, they are grateful to be with each other and that is enough for tonight. After she finishes her second bowl of ice cream, Veronica finally speaks, "This PI said he already sold the story to a network. Do you believe him?"

After a short hesitation, Logan nods. He would like to say what makes her feel better but he doesn't lie to her. The truth is he told Logan's security team that he has already sold it to the highest bidder. Logan can't throw money at it now and stop it. The upset young woman looks at the counter and swallows. Finally she says, "I guess Bryan is just another innocent person who is caught up in the hurricane of my life."

He reaches across the counter and puts his hand on her arm. He says his voice full of emotion, "I am so sorry Veronica."

She nods without looking up. After a few seconds of quiet she takes a deep breath and lets it out before she looks up at her husband. She asks Logan if she can borrow his phone as she left hers at the office. He immediately hands her his phone and starts to clean up the kitchen. The tired blonde takes Logan's phone to her office so she can talk to her father in private. When she returns she hands the phone to Logan and quietly points out, "While I was talking to Dad you got two calls I let go to voice mail."

He takes the phone from her and says, "Thanks."

She looks at him and there is an awkward moment between them. Finally she says, "I called Bryan and talked to him." She pauses and shares, "He is not happy. He says when he got home from work, he talked to Zack about what happened. Bryan doesn't want to come out right now and Zack is so upset that he left their apartment and hasn't come back." Her pause is very telling as it takes her a while to get control enough to talk. Finally she finishes, "An apology doesn't really cover it, does it?'

Logan shakes his head and agrees, "No it doesn't." He really likes both Zack and Bryan and he is really sorry that his notoriety is going to cause issues between them. He sighs and adds, "I wish my parents had left me out of the limelight."

"I know," she tells him. She briefly meets his gaze and he can see her fatigue and pain. She says, "This isn't just about the press though." She shakes her head and adds, "I know that Dick and John hate me. I get that they don't care if they hurt me or my career."

Logan goes to interrupt but stops when she puts up her hand to stop him. She says quietly, "I really don't want to hear you defend them right now." She carries on, "This time they hurt Bryan's career and his relationship with Zack." She looks at him and finishes, "They have gone too far Logan."

He really doesn't know what to say. He can see she is hurt by his non response and he opens his mouth to talk to her when she tiredly says, "I 'm going to go to bed. I am pretty wiped."

He nods and says, "I'll be right there." He watches her leave and looks at his phone. He sees that the two calls sent to voice mail were from John. Sighing Logan looks at the indicators deciding if he should talk to John tonight or not. He has ignored all calls tonight from his friends tonight. After a few seconds thought he puts his phone in his pocket and heads over to turn out the lights. Tonight Veronica needs him and he will be there for her. The rest of the world can wait until tomorrow.
