Hey hey hey! Wassup? So... A little plug for me, It's actually happening! I'm getting everything taken care of to finally start this beach volleyball club at my University! Why there wasn't one already, I don't know, but it's gonna happen! :) Anyway, What else happened during the last two weeks... OH! I'm a presidential ambassador for my University as well so... for those of you who are looking into the University of St. Thomas, you just might get to meet me if you sign up for a campus tour. ;) I've also been acing all of my classes (except Chemistry because no matter how good I am at science, I can't do Chemistry). We've been reading The Odyssey in English and I've become the "Mythology girl" because I know the myths for all of the monsters that Odysseus encounters. XD Thanks Uncle Rick! And now... continuing on...
AncientTide: LOLOLOLOL! I love stalling! It gives a great story!
A Faulty Spell Casting Demigod: I don't think you understand: I do what I want! LOL! Hopefully, this chapter will make things a little better. Maybe...
Jedi1: I'm pretty sure Athena would say, "Business women don't have milkshakes. Milkshakes are for those who slack off. And my employees do not slack off." X'D
IIII Winter Wolf IIII: I wouldn't say Annabeth is weak, per say. Athena is just not a force that you would argue with unless you want to get cut. Sure if it were anyone else they would've been sent packing but Athena is both Annabeth's mother and boss. There's a certain level of respect and obedience that must be followed.
redconverse 23 (Guest): I don't really read much fanfic anymore. I'm either too busy reading for class or writing for my stories so... no time!

Annabeth was bored out of her mind. Ever since she had gotten back from her unintended vacation on that deserted island, she had been in meetings regarding her taking over the company or in meetings regarding one of the buildings she had designed. She barely had time to see her own family, let alone Percy. In fact, she hadn't even talked to Percy since the night they were found; that was almost a week ago. Her dad did tell her that he went to go visit Percy in the hospital and mentioned that he worked at the Aquarium near Manhattan Beach but Annabeth hadn't had enough free time to go down and visit.
In the midst of her thoughts, the voice of Charles Beckendorf, the lead contractor of her latest project, broke through her thoughts. "Any questions?" he asked as he concluded his presentation. Annabeth blinked. She didn't even know what he was talking about. This was so unlike her. She always knew what was going on and always had questions to ask. So she wasn't surprised when all the heads turned to face her in shock that she hadn't piped up yet. She cleared her throat.
"Well," she said in her professional voice. "I don't have any at the moment, but upon further review I'm sure I'll think of something. Great presentation Charles. Email all of the specs to me so I can further assess your plan." The blonde heiress looked around the room. "That is all." The members of the meeting gathered their things and shuffled out of the room. Soon, only Annabeth and Charles remained.
"Annabeth," he said, catching her attention as she was about to leave the room. Her and Charles have been good friends since college when he began to date a fellow heiress, Silena Beauregard.
"Beckendorf," she greeted. Though she referred to him as Charles professionally, he preferred to be called by his last name.
"Is everything all right? You seemed kind of distracted during the meeting." Annabeth sighed.
"Was it that obvious?"
"To me? Absolutely. To everyone else? Probably not."
"As long as they didn't notice." Beckendorf chuckled.
"Well, they sure noticed that you didn't have a barrage of questions at the end," he shot.
"Well, maybe they just think that I think that your presentation covered every detail," Annabeth countered. They both laughed and exited the meeting room.
"Hey, I've gotta get going. I have another meeting down at the Aquarium. One of the new marine biologists is planning on building a new habitat and guess who they requested?"
"That just means you're that good."
"Yeah… Well…" A thought ran through Annabeth's mind and her mood brightened instantly.
"Wait, you said the Aquarium?" she asked.
"Yeah. Why?"
"When you're over there, see if you can find out two things for me."
"Sure. What are they?"
"See if Percy Jackson is working on the project, and who the architect in charge of designing the habitat is." Annabeth could feel a plan forming in her mind so that she could see Percy and still be 'at work.' She just needed to see if all the variables were in place.
"Yeah. I can do that," Beckendorf said, nodding. "No problem, Annabeth."
"Thanks!"
"Well, I should head out."
"And I should head back to my office," Annabeth said with fake enthusiasm. She and Beckendorf shared another laugh before hugging goodbye and heading off in separate directions.
Annabeth rushed off to her office, a new surge of energy pulsing through her veins. She plowed through all of her paperwork and was able to clock out of the building within two hours. On her way out to her car, she received a text from Beckendorf.
Hey. That Percy Jackson guy you were wondering about is the marine biologist in charge of the habitat and the architect's name is Reyna Ramírez, the text said. Annabeth smiled. Reyna worked for her company so it should be easy getting a transfer for the project or a job as an overseer so that she had an excuse to go down to the Aquarium to see Percy. She texted him back in thanks and hopped in her car, heading back to her apartment so that she could get the paperwork for the transfer and pull up the files regarding the habitat in order to come up with a suitable design.
Annabeth worked with a smile on her face in her study. Things were finally going to go her way and she was excited to start making a future for herself. All her life she had been told what to do, where to go, and what to wear. Now, she was going to start taking control of her own life. Soon, she'll be running her mother's company, and living her life the way she wanted. But first, she had to find a way to get to Percy because Annabeth realized that without him in her life to balance her out, Annabeth would only have work to live for and she didn't want to be that kind of person. She wanted to have a life outside of the office and Percy was her way to that.
Annabeth didn't think it happened, that it only happened in movies in books. But she realized, as she sat through one of her many meetings since her return, that within the one week she had spent with Percy, she had fallen in love with him. It was a strange feeling, being in love. It was as though nothing had changed in her life but at the same time, everything had changed and she was suddenly aware of everything about herself. It was as if she had just woken up from a dream and had finally begun to live her life. But, she couldn't start living fully until she found a way to be with Percy.
Finishing the paperwork, Annabeth stuffed the files into a manila folder and put it into her workbag to be taken in tomorrow. Finally, the blonde heiress's adrenaline rush from the excitement began to wear down and all she felt was exhaustion. So, she hopped in the shower for a quick wash and got ready for bed.

For the last week, Percy had been hard at work at the Aquarium, trying to get everything ready for the new habitat they were building. He had scheduled a meeting with an architect that worked for Olive Branch Architects because he hoped that Annabeth would see his name in the registry and take up the job. However, his inquiry didn't quite make it that high up the chain because one of the junior architects, Reyna Ramírez, gave him a call back and set up an appointment to meet with him on Friday.
The black haired marine biologist was sitting in his new office, filling out the paperwork and the permits for the construction of the habitat when a knocked rapped on his door. "Come in!" he called out, scrambling to finish up the last of his sentence. Once the door opened, Percy looked up to see an African-American man walking through the door. "Hello," he greeted, standing and holding his hand out. "I'm Percy Jackson."
"I figured as much. Your name's on the door," the man replied with a chuckle, taking Percy's hand, pumping it twice.
Percy's eyes grew wide. "They finally put my name on the door? Cool!" The man laughed again and shut the door behind him.
"I'm Charles Beckendorf. You can call me Beckendorf. I work for Vulcan Construction. I'm here to talk to you about the habitat that you're planning to build," Beckendorf explained as he took a seat in front of Percy's desk.
"You're the contractor! Awesome!" Percy smiled, retaking his seat. "I'm sorry. I'm really new to this and this is my first project so I'm kind of excited."
"I can tell. Don't worry. I was like that too when I lead my first construction project." The two men sighed in agreement at the rush of running point for a large project.
"I wish I had some designs or something to show you to see the basic outline for the habitat but I haven't even met my architect yet. I scheduled this appointment because I thought I would have had a chance to work with her but I just got a confirmation for our first meeting on Friday. I would've rescheduled our meeting but the receptionist at Vulcan said that you guys were too booked to take on new clients after this week," Percy explained.
Beckendorf nodded. "That's no problem. We have been extremely busy lately. But, I guess it's a good thing that I got to meet you before we got to work. Generally, I'd like to get a good feel of the people that I'm working with before we dive in so, this is perfect."
"Great."
"By the way," Beckendorf continued. "Who is the architect in charge of this project and her firm? Just as a professional thing."
"Reyna Ramírez from Olive Branch Architects. Is there a problem?"
"Actually, no. Vulcan Construction and Olive Branch have a contract together already so it works out perfectly."
"That's fantastic!" Beckendorf's phone chimed and Percy watched as he pulled it out and checked the notification on his lock screen.
"Well, I've got to go. My fiancée wants me to report to… The Sugar Flower Cake Shop for tasting. Whatever that means." Percy chuckled and stood from his seat to see his new partner and colleague off. The two men shook hands. "Just give me a call as soon as you and Reyna have gotten together and have come up with a basic design.
"I will," Percy said. Beckendorf gave a final nod and moved toward the door to Percy's office. "Good luck," Percy called out to Beckendorf's retreating form.
"I'll need it!" the man called back.
Once Beckendorf was gone, Percy went back to completing his paperwork. At this point in time, it seemed that Percy was getting absolutely nowhere with getting in touch with Annabeth. He was starting to face the fact that he and Annabeth lived completely different lives. He didn't think that it would happen – that he would give up on them – but if they couldn't even get together once, then what were their chances of being together?
The rest of the week flew by and soon it was the nearing the end of Friday and the beginning of the weekend. Percy only had one more meeting that day and he was done. Unfortunately, that meeting wasn't going to happen for another hour or so. Just before he began to wonder what he was going to do for an entire hour before Reyna showed up, Percy's phone rang.
"Percy Jackson. How may I help you?" he answered, powering up his personal laptop.
"Hello, Mr. Jackson. This is Reyna Ramírez from Olive Branch Architects," the person on the other end replied.
"Oh! Ms. Ramírez. I wasn't expecting a call from you. Is this about our meeting in a while?" Percy asked, sitting up in his chair, a furrow in his eyebrow forming. He hoped she wasn't cancelling on her.
"It is, actually. Something has come up and I won't be able to make it. However, I spoke with my supervisor and as a sign of our sincerest apologies, your account has been transferred to one of our senior architects. They will be the one to meet with you in an hour. I'm sorry for the inconvenience," Reyna explained.
"No, no inconvenience at all," Percy responded. "Better this happened now than later. Thank you for the heads up. Have a nice day."
"You, too." With that, Percy hung up and logged into his laptop. Now, he had to wait for whoever this senior architect was to show up to his office. He just hoped that it wasn't someone who would be too difficult to work with.
For the next hour or so, Percy surfed through his Facebook, finding out what his friends and family have been up too, killing time until a knock sounded on his door. Logging off his account and shutting his laptop, Percy called out, "Come in!" The door opened and when Percy looked up, his jaw dropped and only one thing came out of his mouth. "Annabeth?"
And voila! I've noticed a trend lately... I've been getting less and less Guest reviews and I don't know why but it makes me feel sad... I love reading guest reviews and reading the strange names that y'all come up with. They make my day.
Well, anyway, I'll see you in two weeks!
