Quickly threw this together at work this morning. Kind of a short chapter leading into a much longer next one. Thanks for the reviews everyone.
"Father I'm here." Draco said as he entered his fathers study.
"Oh, Draco, good. I wasn't sure if you were in class or not but I needed to talk to you."
"What about?"
"Have you noticed that muddblood Granger girl getting sick?"
"Yeah, she's sick. Do you know something about that?" Draco questioned trying not to seem overly concerned even though he was.
"Well of course, we poisoned her." Lucius said with a smirk.
"What? When? Why?"
"On the first night I called you back to the manor, when we killed that man. I have an inside man at Hogwarts, that took care of it for me. And you know why. She is Potter's right hand man. Well kind of. And it was easier to get to her than to him."
"What's going to happen to her?" Draco ask panicked.
"Well, she's going to die son. Eventually I guess. How sick is she?"
"Uhm, pretty sick. She gets better here and there but for the most part she's been not doing well."
"She's not progressing as fast as we thought. Much longer than our chemist expected. We didn't want her to die instantly because then it would be obvious that she had been murdered but I didn't think it it would take this long. When we found out you were going to be living with her we slipped you the antidote, because the chemist was worried about her sickness becoming airborne. Has anyone else gotten sick?" Lucius asked concerned about his plan failing.
"No, not that I've noticed." He responded in a daze. "What was this antidote you gave me?" Draco began to wonder if maybe she didn't get as sick when she was around him because he had the antidote in his system.
"I don't know Draco. I know nothing about chemistry or medicine, but it's in the lab in the dungeons."
"Oh, well, did you need me for anything else?" Draco asked in a hurry to get back to Hogwarts.
"No, I just wanted an update on the muddblood. I'm sure she'll probably dead in a few days though." Lucius smirked. Draco blood was boiling. He hated hearing his father call Hermione a muddblood. He hated what was happening. He quickly said his goodbyes to his father and left.

When Draco returned to his common room he instantly fell to his knees and began to weep. He couldn't believe this was happening. All of this was going on right under his nose and he hadn't even realized it. Of course his father would do something like this. It was a coward move, eliminating the enemy without ever having to face them. Draco was furious, but more than that, he was scared. He wouldn't let Hermione die. He couldn't. As he sat there on his knees he finally admitted to himself that he was in love with her. He knew he had to do something.
He decided to turn to the only person he felt like he could talk to about this. Sarah. He sent his owl out to give her the message to meet him outside of his common room painting. And there he waited.
"What's wrong Drake?" Sarah said running up to him. "You never owl me."
"I don't know what to do."
"What happened?" She asked concerned.
"My father. My father poisoned Granger. She's going to die." Draco said trying to hold back his tears.
"What?! Is that why she's been so sick?"
"Yes. My father said she probably has a few days left. I don't know how I didn't realize my father would do something like this."
"Drake calm down. What are the options here." Sarah said trying to be rational.
"My father gave me an antidote because they were worried about it possibly becoming airborne, which I think is why she doesn't seem to get as sick around me. But I think eventually the poison will completely take over and it won't matter if I'm there or not."
"They gave you an antidote. So that means something can cure her."
"So I need to break into my fathers lab and steal it."
"Well I didn't say all that but okay."
"What choice do I have?" Draco said in a stressed voice. "I can't let her die."
"Your father. No Voldemort is going to kill you."
"Hopefully I don't get caught but that's a risk I'm going to have to take. I love her."
"You love her?" She asked with a raised eyebrow.
"Yes."
"Okay, then I'll help." Sarah said with a sigh.
"Really?" Draco questioned quite surprised that she was willing to help.
"Yes, really Drake. Let's come up with a plan."
Here comes the drama lol. I'm actually kinda excited for the next chapter. Hope y'all enjoyed. Review and let me know.
