The next few chapters are mostly filler chapters, but I hope you like them anyway. Also, katniss is a bit OOC in this chapter.
Katniss's POV
"Good morning, everyone," I say to my first class of the day. "I hope you all had good weekend."
"Did you have a good weekend, Ms. Everdeen?" Darla Jessup asks me.
I smile at her. "I did," I tell her. "I got some things resolved with my roommates, so I think it will be a good week too."
"That's good," she says. "We had a party for my little brother. It was his birthday yesterday!"
"That must have been fun." I smile at the little girl. "Now, will all of you take out the song we worked on last week? Three Little Fish in the Ocean?"
We quickly get to work on the song, and before I know it, they're leaving the room. I feel my phone buzz and pick it up, not bothering to check to see who it is.
"Hello?" I say.
"Katniss? It's Peeta."
"Oh! Hi, Peeta. What's up?" As I'm talking, I organize the music for all the grades.
"Do you remember whether or not I left my wallet on the dresser this morning? I won't be mad if you don't, but I kind of need it, so if you do remember . . ."
"Let me think . . ." I desperately wrack my brain trying to remember if it was there. "I'm really sorry, Peeta, but I can't remember," I tell him.
"It's fine," he says. "I can just go home later to check."
"Okay." I bite my lip, still feeling kind of guilty. "I'll see you later."
"Yeah," he says. "See ya."
I hang up my phone and turn around, only to see my second class already seated. One boy grins at me. "Was that your boyfriend?"
I laugh. "No. It was just my roommate."
The boy rolls his eyes. "If you say so . . ."
Finnick's POV
"Finnick, you're working with Mindy Claythorne today," the photographer, Kenneth Harries, informs me. "I think you've done shoots with her before."
I nod at him. "Yeah, Mindy and I know each other pretty well. We used to date."
He glances at me sharply. "I hope that won't affect your shoot."
I chuckle. "It was a long time ago. We're both over it."
"Good," Kenneth says. "Because if you don't perform, we don't pay you."
I roll my eyes subtly, making sure he doesn't see it. "I know. I can assure you that I'll give this shoot 110 percent."
He grins. "That's what I want to hear! Now get over to wardrobe."
I oblige.
Peeta's POV
"Where is it?!" I mutter as I rifle through my bedroom, searching for my wallet. I've already checked on the dresser, in the dresser, under the bed, and in the bathroom without any luck.
I'm about to call one of my coworkers - to see if I left my wallet at work yesterday - when I hear a knock at the door.
I run down the stairs and swing the door open. Standing in front of me is a young blond girl with a tear-stained face. I vaguely recognize her, but I can't pinpoint where from.
"Is Katniss here?" she sniffs. "I need to talk to her."
That's when I recognize the girl to be Katniss's little sister, Prim.
"I'm sorry, she's at work. She should be home soon, though. Do you want to come in?" I ask her.
She nods, and I open the door wider to let her in. She sits on the couch.
"Do you want some water? I can make you some pastries if you want," I say.
She offers me a small smile. "That would be great. Thanks."
I walk into the kitchen and pick up my cell phone. "Did you find your wallet?" Katniss picks up on the third ring.
"No, but I think you should come back to the house."
"Why?" she asks. "Is something wrong?"
"Your sister just showed up on the doorstep in tears."
"Oh God. I'll be there soon."
Annie's POV
"Annie!" Finnick shouts from the adult's pool as I walk toward his truck. "Come up and watch the end of my shoot!"
I shrug. "Okay," I call back. I walk over to the pool and stand behind the camera crew. I give Finnick a quick smile; he smiles back.
Unsurprisingly, Finnick is modelling with a female model, who's all over him. I won't deny the fact that it makes me jealous, but I push that feeling down. He's only doing his job.
It finishes swiftly, and Finnick runs off to change. The other model, however, walks over to me.
"Hi," she says. "I'm Mindy. You're Finnick's friend, right?"
I grin at her. "Yeah. I'm his roommate."
She raises an eyebrow. "Really? Just his roommate? Because he couldn't stop staring at you. It was kind of adorable actually."
"Well - no. I'm not just his roommate. My name's Annie, by the way."
"Annie? That's a cute name. I take it you've always been the pretty, innocent girl that everyone envies."
"I don't think anyone envies me, but yes. I guess I've always been that girl."
She laughs. "Trust me, hun. You probably think that girls envy me. I mean, I have flawless skin, long and luxurious hair, plus a perfect body. And to be fair, they often do envy me. But I'm nothing compared to you. People write me off as a slut. You're not like that.
"Take Finnick, for example. He has a reputation. Don't get me wrong, he's a great guy, but he doesn't really have serious relationships. I dated him once - only physical. We had no emotional connection at all. And we stayed friends afterward. He's like that with most girls."
I look at the ground. "Thanks for telling me."
Noticing my hurt expression, she quickly continues. "Oh God, I don't mean that he's just going to screw you and then end it. You see, the way he looks at you - it's different. You're special. Girls like you drive guys like him crazy. You're innocence - it's intoxicating. I've seen ithappen to tons of guys. They think that they're strong, fun-loving, and independent. That they don't need someone to ground them. Then a girl - or guy - like you show up. And their whole world implodes in on them. You're drastically changing his world, Annie. More than you realize. And he's loving every second of it."
I know it's kind of short. Please review!
