So, guys, this is a pretty big day for this chapter and I only realized why halfway through writing this chapter. We have reached 100 reviews! You guys have no idea how much this means to me! I was just looking through all the reviews and crying because they mean so much to me! You have no idea how low my self-esteem about my writing was before fanfiction! So, I'm deciding that I'll try to respond to all the reviews I get from now on. Also, I published this story over a year ago! I can't believe it's been so long! It's so surreal, so thank you to everyone who's been with this story since the beginning and to everyone who has recently started reading it. I certainly wouldn't start reading a story as long as this one with such a crappy summary!
And, of course, thank you to everyone who actually read that long-ass author's note.
Last time:
As she finishes her sentence the front door swings open. Annie and Finnick step through, and we all turn around, Johanna still holding the test.
"Where'd you get that?" Finnick asks her.
In response, she smiles rather awkwardly and says, "Congratulations?"
Finnick's POV
"Where did you get that?!" I repeat more forcefully.
"Funny story," Johanna says. "You see, I was just-"
"You went snooping in our bathroom," I shout. "That's not okay, Johanna! It's a complete invasion of privacy!"
"And you stole my earrings!" Annie adds.
Johanna reaches up and takes the earrings out. "They looked freaking fantastic with my dress, and in my defense, you never wear them." She hands Annie the jewelry.
"Don't change the subject," I yell, even though she probably wasn't even knowingly doing it. "You still went searching through our bathroom!"
"Well, I didn't start with your bathroom," Johanna defends. "I started with your search history - you should really change your password by the way - and that led me to the conclusion that Annie was pregnant! I just needed the evidence to convince everyone else, so that led me to the trashcan."
Annie grabs my arm. "I'm not feeling too well. My head is spinning." she says.
Johanna rushes over and leads Annie to the couch. "Lay here and close your eyes. It should help. Peeta, go make her some tea!"
Peeta is in the kitchen in no time at all.
"When did you become an expert in dizziness?!" I snap, still bitter about the whole scenario.
She looks up at me, glaring. "When I had to write a report on pregnancy in ninth grade health class."
I give her a skeptical look and she sighs, annoyed.
"Finnick, I know what I'm doing," she growls at me. "Better than you if your search history is any indication."
"Another huge invasion of privacy," I mutter, though I can feel my anger fading. I'm just surprised this all is happening.
Peeta comes back in with the tea and hands the mug to Johanna.
"Annie, come on, sit up," Johanna urges.
Annie sits halfway up, and Johanna places the cup in her hands.
"Careful," Johanna instructs. "It's hot."
Annie nods and takes a tentative sip. "Thank you for the tea, Peeta," she says.
"Not a problem," Peeta replies. "I'm glad to help."
Katniss's POV
After Finnick's anger and Annie's sudden illness subsided, we all had a very mature conversation about the whole situation. We all learned Annie and Finnick are planning on keeping the baby. The rest of us - even Johanna - agreed to do whatever we could to help. After that, we all settled into our evening routines.
"Peeta?" I knock on the door to our bedroom, pushing it open slightly.
"Yes?" He looks up from his book and smiles at me.
"Can I ask you a kind of weird question?" I ask him.
"Of course," he says. "What's on your mind?"
"Well, I'm kind of worried about the whole Finnick and Annie thing."
"Why?" he asks curiously.
I bite the inside of my cheek. "I don't know much about babies."
He gives me a surprised look. "What about Prim? She's younger than you, right?"
I nod. "Well, yes, but when she was born I was really young, so I didn't have to do much."
"Well, I'll let you in on something every uncle knows," he tells me. "Babies are easy as long as you're not the one who's taking care of them. And you won't be. Plus, you're a teacher, so it will come quickly to you."
I grin slightly. "You think?"
"Definitely," Peeta reassures me. "And, if it will make you feel better, I'll help you out until you get the hang of it."
"That's really sweet," I tell him with a smile. "Thanks, Peeta. I might just take you up on that offer."
"I'm always glad to help," Peeta promises. (A/N: Sorry, that was so cheesy.)
Johanna's POV
The banging on the door gets louder.
"I'm coming, goddamnit!" I shout at whoever's on the other side of the door. I continue shouting as I walk to the doorway, "What the fuck possessed you to obnoxiously bang on the door disturbing the entire neighborhood, you little shit - oh, hi, Remy."
"You told my sister you're pregnant?!" he demands, looking seriously pissed.
"Did I? I can't remember," I tell him, with a sly grin on my face. "My roommate's pregnant, though. I might have told her that."
He clenches his fists. "I got back to the family house after the wedding, and low-and-behold, my sister stands up and says, 'Even though this is Susan and Joey's special night, Remy has so big news too! Johanna's pregnant!' I just stared at her in shock for a few minutes before just shaking my head. It was fucking humiliating, you psycho bitch!"
"Well, that does sound awfully embarrassing, but you can't blame me for every little thing that happens to you. It just isn't right."
He laughs humorlessly. "When you wind up in prison, I'll just laugh. That is when I will come out victorious, and it will feel fucking great. So, until then, goodbye, Jo. I hope you rot in hell someday." He turns and walks to his car.
"I've already been to jail," I shout after him. "It isn't even that bad, asshat!"
Annie's POV
I enter the bedroom to see Finnick arguing with his sister over the phone.
"Come on, Sylvia, just do this for me," he pleads. "I really need you to convince them to come out. They won't answer any of my phone calls!"
Though I can't understand what she's saying, I can tell it's negative.
'Give me the phone.' I mouth to him. He hands it to me without a second thought.
"Hi, Sylvia, this is Annie, Finnick's girlfriend. I'm pregnant and I really care about family so please try to convince your parents to come out because I want to tell them in person. Finnick doesn't think it's a good idea, but I really want him to makeup with your family so our child can have a good, complete, loving family once they're born. Would you please do this for me?"
"Oh my God, of course! Finnick didn't tell me that you were pregnant! Congradulations! I'll do what I can to get my parents to come and visit."
"Thanks so much; it really means a lot to me. Bye!"
"Bye!"
I hand him his phone. "She'll try to convince them."
He smiles. "You're amazing, you know that, right?"
I feel my cheeks get warm. "Thank you."
He chuckles lightly and pulls me against him. He kisses the top of my head. "Amazing and beautiful and strong and wonderful and-"
"Stop it! You're making me blush," I tell him.
"Modest too. The whole package."
Sorry, I feel like this chapter could have been a lot better, but it's Super Bowl Sunday, so things are pretty hectic at my house. Please review and remember my three-week rule.
