Oh my gods, this chapter is so late! I'm so fucking sorry! I just had a fuck-ton of writer's block and couldn't think of anything to write, so sorry because this is a major filler! Also this chapter is about a million times shorter than it should be, so I promise next chapter will be better.
Thanks for all the reviews, and thank you to the guest reviewers especially! Sorry I can't reply to your reviews!
Gale's POV
"Rory, I have good news," I say into the phone.
"Yeah? He asks eagerly.
"I have the money you need. I'll send it to you later today," I reply.
"Oh my God, thank you, Gale! I'd be so fucked without your help," he says.
"Yeah, you would," I tell him. "Rory, if anything like this ever happens again, I can't help you. Do you get that? You can't come to me with these problems and expect me to make them disappear."
"I know, I know," he assures me. "And I promise I won't."
"I'm serious, Rory."
"I am too, I swear," Rory promises. "Thanks again for all your help. I've got to go."
"I'll talk to you later, okay?" I ask.
"Yeah," he says. "Bye." He hangs up before I can say anything else.
"So," Katniss says from where she's sitting on the counter, stirring her tea, "is everything sorted out?"
I nod. "It looks like it. Thanks so much for all the help."
"Don't worry about it," she says. "I'm just glad it's over."
"Join the club," I mutter.
"Well," Katniss begins, "I've gotta go. I promised Finnick that Peeta and I would clear the house of all meats; they make Annie sick."
"Have fun with that," I tell her. "I'm going to the grocery store. Need anything?"
"Substitute proteins," Katniss answers and I laugh.
"Yeah, I'll definitely get some of those.
Peeta's POV
"Okay, I did not realize how much meat we had in our fridge. It's kind of ridiculous," Katniss says as she pulls out another container of frozen sausages.
"Yeah," I agree. "How much of this stuff do you think we could donate to a food pantry?"
"Most of it, as long as there's a refrigerator," she replies.
"Good, because it would be really wasteful to throw this all away."
"It's really cool that you care about not being wasteful, you know?" Katniss tells me. "I mean - Gale, Johanna, and I grew up in poverty, so it makes sense for us to worry, but you were middle class and a lot of the middle and upper class don't think about what the poor need. I mean - Annie does, but look at Finnick. You can't blame him because he grew up rich and spoiled but he doesn't think too much about what the poor need. It just wasn't something that ever really concerned him. But you care, and that's pretty great, in my opinion."
"Well, thanks," I say. "I never really realized that's what I was doing."
"Well, you are, and I appreciate that."
He smiles at me just as Annie and Finnick walk in the room. Annie takes one look at all the meat lying out on the table and bolts to the bathroom. All three of us give her a pitying glance.
"So, Annie's and my parents are coming to visit in three days," Finnicks tells us. "My parents are staying in a hotel, but hers are using our bedroom again. I don't mean to be a burden, but I don't want her to have to sleep on the couch in her condition, so -"
"She can use my bed, I don't mind," I say.
"That's really helpful, Peeta, thanks. You're the best," Finnick praises.
"It's no problem, really."
"Hold on a second," Katniss says. "You actually convinced your parents to come up here? I didn't think they'd say yes."
"My sister convinced them, really. I didn't do much," he says.
"Still, I'm impressed," Katniss tells him.
"Yeah," I agree. "It's really great that you got them to come."
"Well, don't get too excited, because they're probably going to leave almost immediately."
"So, you're going to tell them you knocked up your girlfriend?" Katniss asks.
"Yep," Finnick says. "And they're going to kill me."
"Maybe not, I mean - it's going to be their first grandchild, right?" I say. Finnick nods. "That must mean something to them."
"I hope you're right," Finnick says. "If not for my sake, than for Annie's. She really wants the baby to have a complete, happy family, and I want her to be happy."
"Okay, don't expect me to say anything like this ever again," Katniss begins, "but I think that was the sweetest thing I've ever heard."
Please review, despite the lateness and fillerness.
