A.N. Sooo…third chapter! Woooo! OOOOOOO! O is such a fun letter.

Disclaimer: I could really go for a chocolate doughnut right now.

International Police agents are known for operating on a different level than most Pokémon Trainers. They posses certain skills and qualities that make them just seem right for the job.

And, the further up in rank that you go, the agents demonstrate these qualities more and more openly. In fact, most agents won't rise up a rank unless they show the certain qualities that demonstrate that they are mature enough to take on the missions of a higher-ranked agent.

One perfect example of a mature agent was none other than Agent Koya.

Yes, regardless of the fact that Koya was only fourteen years old, he was one of the most talented agents (and most intimidating) agents in the Sinnoh division of the International Police.

The said agent was currently walking down the brightly lit hallway of the International Police base, located just outside Twinleaf Town. The base wasn't all that big, it was just about 2 stories tall, but it was perfect for housing a few divisions of agents.

Koya had just arrived for the day's work, a few minutes before he was actually supposed to be in his office. He turned right down another hallway and arrived outside the office he shared with another agent. Brushing some blonde hair out of his face, he put a hand on the cold doorknob and opened the door.

"You're late, idiot."

The officer looked over at the clock on the wall opposite to him, then down at the other person in the room, who had been looking at something on her computer, but was now turned to face him, once arm resting on her desk, which, like most of the small room, was a dull and boring gray.

"Nope." Koya responded, walking over to his desk and setting his briefcase down on the surface.

"Oh, so you won't give me the satisfaction of being here before you were?" the female officer asked, sarcasm dripping off her voice.

"Maybe, Phoenix. I'll just have to wait until the shock wears off."

"Go jump in a lake." Phoenix snapped, turning back to her computer. "You're as intolerable as ever, you arse."

On the other side of the room, Koya grinned.

He and Phoenix had been friends for about seven years, and the two worked like a well-oiled machine, regardless of how clashing their personalities were, or how many meaningless arguments they got into. Some Superintendents even joked that the way that they dressed, and the way that they looked, was a reflection of their personalities.

Koya had blonde hair that sometimes seemed golden in a way, steely turquoise eyes, and wore almost all black, with some red at the neckline and sleeve cuffs of his jackets, and some at the bottom of his pants. He also had black shoes, and carried a briefcase, something that Phoenix liked tease him about.

Phoenix, on the other hand, had raven-black hair with a few navy highlights, chocolate-pie brown eyes, and a scar cutting across the right side of her face. She wore a bright red shirt, black leggings, red boots, and had a maroon jacket tied around her waist. A black shoulder bag was slung across her shoulder, with a waist-high metal pole attached to the back of the bag. She also had white wristguard on her hands.

Maybe the other Superintendents were right when they made those "personality shown through appearance" jokes.

"Oi, you," Phoenix called, breaking the silence that had befallen the room. "What's in that briefcase of yours, anyway?"

"This won't be leading into another lawyer joke, would it?" Koya asked, opening up his briefcase.

"Not if you'd just tell me what you actually kept in there."

"Maybe some other time."

With a few choice words directed at her childhood friend, as well as a death glare, Phoenix turned back to her computer.

Koya sat down at his desk and powered up the desktop computer that he used during the workday, when he wasn't in a meeting or on a mission. When the computer turned on, he opened up a certain program on his desktop, clicking the mouse twice on the icon. A small smile crept across his face as the program began to load. Phoenix had no idea that he did this, and even though she was in the room with him…

"You're playing solitaire?" A disbelieving voice remarked. A shadow was cast over Koya's computer screen, and a few strands of Phoenix's hair fell down in front of his face.

"Solitaire is very relaxing, Phoenix." Koya responded, turning away from his computer to meet the disapproving look that his friend was giving him.

"Yes, because all Interpol agents play solitaire." Phoenix retaliated, reaching over Koya's head and shutting the computer lid with a small thunk. "Besides, there's something that I want to show you!"

"Alright, alright." Koya sighed, standing up. "What is it?"

The two crossed the room to Phoenix's desk, where she sat down in her plastic chair and opened up her computer.

"So what's the hassle?"

"I was checking my email, and I saw this." Phoenix said, clicking on a message.

"Baliar Island?" the blonde officer asked. "Haven't we heard about this?"

"Well, yeah, because Jun's gonna be a Frontier Brain, Hareta's a member of the Elite Four, and Mistumi's trying out to be Contest Star, but why am I getting an email about this?" Phoenix exclaimed. "Baliar Island is supposed to be a tourist attraction!"

"Have you-"

"A tourist attraction!" Phoenix cried, flinging her arms up in the air, nearly whacking Koya in the face. "Why the hell would I get an email about a tourist attraction?!"

"Phoenix, have you-"

"TOURIST attraction!" Phoenix yelled. "Do I LOOK like I have time for something like that?! No!"

"Look, would you-"

"TOURIST ATTRACTION!" Phoenix shrieked, grabbing the collar of Koya's black and red jacket. "It's a TOURIST. ATTRACTION."

"Have you checked who sent it you?" Koya sighed.

"It was LOOKER!" the hyped-up agent cried. "Why LOOKER?!"

Looker, or in some cases, the "Globe-Trotting Elite Agent," was a highly-known member of Interpol, and a highly respected agent. He mostly worked in the Sinnoh region, though he had been known to travel around, hence his nickname in the Interpol circle. To the two teenagers, he was the person who had rescued both from their previous, quite depressing lives and made them exemplary agents, or in other words, an adopted father.

Koya sighed again and shook himself free from his teammate's iron grip. "Phoenix, for Arceus' sake. Pull yourself together and listen to me."

His friend frowned, then looked back at the computer. "Do you think that we've got some sort of mission?"

Koya kneeled down so he was just above the height of the table. "I don't know. But you can scroll down, apparently, so just scroll down."

Phoenix dragged the page down, and as she did so, a message from their super appeared on the screen.

Pack your bags, you two.

"Pack your bags?" the two agents said in confusion.

The door to the small office creaked open, and a brown loafer pointed in the doorway. As the door opened up further, it revealed a man in his late 30s, with brown hair, a light brown trench coat, brown slacks, and a purple tie over a white shirt.

This man, named Looker, was the super of the two teenaged agents. While he had been Koya's super for much longer than Phoenix's, nevertheless, the two had a very deep respect for him.

"Looker!" Phoenix exclaimed, jumping up out of her chair. "Why did you-"

Looker held up a hand to silence her. "I have a proposition for the two of you."

"What is it, sir?" Koya asked, standing up as well.

"I'm assuming, when I'm saying this, that you both have heard of Baliar Island?"

"Yes."

"Then, you must also know that they're looking for Frontier Brains."

"So, like Jun's dad, Palmer?" Phoenix asked.

"Exactly." Looker responded. "They have already built the facilities, and as of now, there are three different locations within the frontier: The Battle Tower, the Exploration Cave, and the Police Base."

"Wait." Koya interrupted. "If you're telling us to pack our bags, and Baliar Island is looking for Frontier Brains, and one of the battle facilities is named the Police Base, then…"

Looked nodded. "Very well reasoned. You two will be representing the International Police as Frontier Brains…of the Police Base."

A.N. And our first Frontier Brains have walked onto the scene! Yes, the rest will be introduced later on in the story, but for right now, here's a quick rundown of who's been introduced so far:

-Lyssa (trying out for Flying-type Gym Leader)

-Red Eyes (trying out for Fire-type Gym Leader)

-Bellatrix "Bella" (trying out for Psychic-type Gym Leader)

-Koya (Frontier Brain, Police Base)

-Phoenix (Frontier Brain, Police Base)

And I'm so sorry that this chapter took so long!

But bai for now!
