R6A.N. Cripes, I'm so sorry that this took so long! I've been really busy – and now I'm about to start writing a research paper, so I don't know how consistent I'll be with updating.

Disclaimer: Come to the dark side…we have Light. (I don't own anything except the boundless power of my imagination).

In another, more distant world, inhabited only by Pokémon, there was a place of high reputation. It was a pink and cuddly looking place, but it trained only the best, strongest, and determined. This venue had a high reputation that was maintained by the highly trained Pokémon that came out of its ranks.

This highly regarded locale was known as Wigglytuff's Guild – a guild for Pokémon that wished to join exploration teams and train to be some of the best. The guild was not a far cry from the beach, and in fact was built into the side of a formidable cliff, with a toughly guarded entrance and iron gate.

Wigglytuff's Guild was also known for a few defining members: the guildmaster, Wigglytuff; Wigglytuff's right-hand Pokémon, Chatot; and Team Time, a top-notch exploration team consisting of four members.

The four members were: A Charmander/Human named Soren, a Chikorita by the name of Rita, Grovyle, and Dusknoir. While Soren, Rita, and Grovyle had originally teamed up to defeat Dusknoir (and by extension, his boss, but that's a story for another day), and about six months later, Grovyle and Dusknoir, who by this point had been forgiven, officially joined Soren and Rita's team, Team Time. Combined, the four were quite the force to be reckoned with. Just them walking into a room could silence any apprentices' chatter, especially newbies.

Team Time was currently gathered in Wigglytuff's room, where they were being briefed on a new mission. While they were very high ranked, they chose their own jobs, and even took orders directly from Wigglytuff himself.

"Well, friends!" Wigglytuff cheered, looking around at the small gathering. "Are you ready to learn about your new mission?"

The four teammates nodded. "We've been waiting for a whole week, Wigglytuff, ever since Bidoof accidently dropped a rumor," the team leader, Soren said. "Of course, he's Bidoof, so…"

"Well, you four certainly won't be disappointed!" Chatot interjected, ruffling his wings. "This mission is a very challenging one indeed!"

Wigglytuff nodded. "So, are you ready?"

"YES!" All the members exclaimed, a bit frustrated.

The squishy pink Pokémon clapped his hands excitedly. "Yay! Well, your mission…it's very unusual. Some might say it's insane, but…we have full faith in you four! You haven't disappointed us yet!"

"Wigglytuff, please!" Rita interrupted. "Please, just tell us what our mission is! You do this every time, and we're all on the edge of our seats!"

The guildmaster only laughed, then turned to Chatot. "Chatot, give them a little background, won't you?"

The parrot Pokémon nodded and hopped up to the Guildmaster's side. "You see, from Celebi, we've heard of a place by the name of Baliar Island, which is being built right now. It's a mega battling place, with Pokémon Trainers galore!" All six paused to shudder. The idea of being trapped in a ball, and at the command of a human, who you had no idea of what they would do with you?

Terrifying.

Regaining his composure, Chatot continued. "However, the makers are looking for people known as "Frontier Brains," terrifying combatants that wait for strong Pokémon Trainer to come and challenge them. And…we've decided."

"Decided what?!" All four cried.

"We would like you four to go and try out for the position of Frontier Brain!"

A slamming silence filled the room, as the two officials paused to let the news sink in. Grovyle was the first to recover his voice.

"W-WHAT?" he yelled, curling his green hands into fists. "That's just…Chatot! Wigglytuff! What's your interest in this matter, anyway?"

Wigglytuff gestured for Chatot to continue.

"According to Celebi, there have been strange occurrences going on during the building of the islands. Workers have been going mysteriously missing, construction equipment is breaking out of nowhere, and some have even been killed." Chatot frowned, a look of worry forming on his bird-like features. He began pacing around the room, a common habit of his when he became nervous. The plumage on his head in the shape of a music note swung back and forth, like a metronome as he walked around the room. "Needless to say, we're all really nervous to send you over there, as…"

"We, too, have the possibility of dying." Dusknoir finished. "However, I highly doubt that whoever is actually behind this has any idea of what we might be doing there. I say that though there is a chance of death, it doesn't seem like a very high one."

The rest of the team looked at the Ghost Pokémon, then back at the waiting Wigglytuff and the pacing Chatot.

"Well, Dusknoir does have a point!" Rita said suddenly. "Even if we could die, or something might happen to us – people are already dying! We'd be doing good!"

"I agree with Rita." Grovyle nodded. "After all, if the other Frontier Brains and the other people working there don't have any clue as to what's going on, they could be in real trouble."

The three teammates turned towards their leader, who was scratching her claws against the dirt floor in pensive thought. Soren nodded, then looked up at Wigglytuff.

"We're ready, boss."

"Yay! Friends!" Wigglytuff cheered, clapping his hands together. "Go and talk to Celebi, and she can open up the portal for you, alright? Don't forget to prepare!"

Team Time nodded and walked out of the room, closing the door behind them.

"This should be cool!" Rita cheered, with a jump. "None of us have ever been to the human world before! I'm so excited!"

"That's not usually like you." Grovyle remarked. "Usually, you're more-"

"Afraid, afraid, I know!" Rita interrupted as the team walked out of the guild and into the blinding sunshine. "And…Soren…"

"Yeah?" Soren asked, looking over at her friend.

"You're gonna have to pose as a human."

The Charmander nodded and folded her arms across her orange chest. "The only part of the mission that I'm not looking forward to."

Back in Wigglytuff's room, Chatot was still pacing, worry etched on his features. Wigglytuff sighed and went over to his friend and placed a hand on his musical note-esque head.

"What's gotten you so worried?" Wigglytuff asked. "They'll be fine, Chatot."

"Yes, Guildmaster, yes, I know…" Chatot muttered, finally stopping his incessant pacing. "But, they are one of the best teams we have at our disposal…if something happens to them…I mean, they've done so much…"

"We talked about the before, Chatot," the pink bunny-looking Pokémon replied, sitting down on the grassy ground. "Would we have sent Team Time if we felt that they weren't properly trained and ready to handle a situation of this caliber?"

"Well…no…" Chatot mumbled, looking away from the guildmaster. "But I have a weird feeling…a feeling like they're in over their heads."
