Meanwhile… (3rd person POV)
After Percy and Annabeth left for Olympus, everyone relaxed. Finally, a relaxing day!
Cam got cleaned up and joined his girlfriend in the living room along with the majority of the cabin. They sprawled themselves all over the various couches and chairs. Henry however was sitting curled in a ball facing the wall.
Kelly giggled as she looked at the boy in the corner. She turned to Sam. "Why is he in the corner?"
Sam was carefully polishing her knife back to a shine. "Because he ticked me off for the last time. And got my nice clean blade dirty with egg. And it wasn't just me." She waved the rag she was holding in the direction of James. "That person over there helped too."
James looked up and smiled slightly. "It was my pleasure, not to mention fun."
Kelly looked at Henry again and then shrugged. He was a little annoying she concluded. She turned to her boyfriend who was reading a book on dealing with a problem Pegasus. She internally laughed because even though she and he were dating, Bingo and Cam never really got along. She stood up and pulled Cam up with her.
"Come on." She said. "Time to go." She started to drag him to the door and to the stables. Once he realized where they were going, he started to protest.
"Oh no! That darn horse hates me!"
Kelly huffed. "First off, he's a Pegasus. Secondly, he doesn't hate you, he just hast gotten to know you."
"I'm telling you, that horse is a menace. I'm more comfortable with eagles."
"Of course you are, but today we're pushing you out of your comfort zone." She released her boyfriend and threw open the stable doors. As soon as she did so, all the horses and Pegasus wet crazy, neighing and stamping their hooves.
My lady! Neighed one of the camp horses. So glad you could visit! The horse snorted and looked around.
Kelly walked over to the horse and stroked its muzzle. "Well, you're a pretty one. What's your name?"
Adara, my lady. How is Lord Percy? Was he hurt in the big battle? She neighed in worry.
"Percy's fine. Have you see Bingo?"
Adara pointed her muzzle at the far end of the stable. "Over there, my lady. I think you should prepare for a headache. He's been complaining for the past couple hours. Good luck my lady."
Kelly thanked the horse and made her way to where Adara directed her. "Bingo! Have you been a naughty boy again?"
"'Course not! I'm perfect." Bingo flipped his white mane. "How've you been girl?"
Kelly laughed and tickled behind his ears. "Sure you are Bingo. And for the last time, I've told you not to call me girl. Honestly, you're almost as bad as Blackjack."
Bingo whinnied in protest. "I am nothing like that horse! We are completely different."
"Same ego, same type of horse, same annoying attitude. Oh, totally different." She sniggered. "Oh, hold on, I want you to meet someone." Kelly marched over to the stable entrance and dragged her boyfriend out from behind the door. She pulled him over to Bingos' stall. "Bingo, this is Cam. Cam, this is Bingo, my Pegasus."
Grr, it's the stupid son of Zeus. Why is he here Kell?
"You're here to get to know each other better." She shoved Cam towards the stall and he reached out and gave Bingo a tentative pat on the poll.
Bingo gave Cam a sniff and wrinkled his muzzle slightly. "He smells funny."
"Oh hush up and play nice Bingo."
"I suppose he sort of smells like the air and clouds. I like think… I think." He bumped his muzzle against Cams' chest and gave a friendly short.
"Hey!" Cam exclaimed. "I think he likes me!"
"Good boy Bingo. And well done Cam."
At that moment Kendall raced up, breathless. "Guys, come quickly. There's strange fighting going on in the arena."
The three of them raced to the arena and found some of the strangest battles ever. Arianne was shooting arrows at her silver wolf Kiera. Kiera was expertly dodging the flying shafts and yipping happily. Cole had his wings out and was doing passes at his tigress Breeze who was swiping at him with her paws, claws sheathed. Becca was circling her Pegasus, Flame. Flame was snorting out flames at Bec, but she deflected it with a flick of her hand.
"Oooh!" Cam squealed. "Looks like fun!" He stepped forward and raised his hands. A bolt of lightning flashed and when the light cleared, there stood a large eagle. Cam walked over to it and whispered into its ear. The eagle clicked its beak and soared into the air. Cam readied his bronze sword and shook his head. He shrank it down back into a ring and slipped it back onto his finger. He took out a knife from his boot and took a fighting stance. "Okay, now Thunder!" The eagle flashed down and met Cams' blade in midair as it went in an upward arc. Thanks to a reinforced beak, Thunder was able to hold his own.
All four battles became intense as time passed. The fire around Flame was becoming hotter and hotter and thunder and lightning crackled around Cam and his eagle. The battles came to an abrupt halt when a howl rang out through the arena. Kiera fell to the floor with an arrow sticking out of her side.
"KIERA!" Arianne screamed. She ran over to her wolf and petted her as Kendall and Rebekah went to work assessing the wound and trying to repair it.
"Its semi- deep from what I can tell." Commented Kendall.
Rebekah nodded and motioned for Saffie to come out of the stands. "Okay, Saffie. I need you to administer heat directly around the wound. We need to get the arrow out and stop the bleeding. Make sure you don't char boil the poor creature."
Saffie nodded and placed a finger near the arrows entry point. The tip of her finger heated up and warmed the flesh and arrow.
Quickly, Kendall pulled out the arrow. Kiera whimpered slightly and Arianne hugged her wolf's head. Moving at lightning speed, Rebekah cleaned up the blood and snapped her fingers, summoning a small glass shaker full of a white shimmering powder. She shook some on the wound and then placed a bandage over it. She secured it with tape and sat back.
"I think that's all I can do." Rebekah sighed. She wiped her hands on a towel and looked at Arianne. "What happened?"
Kiera's owner looked up with tears in her eyes. "I don't know. I was shooting arrows and Kiera was doing fine dodging them. Then something happened and an arrow hit her. It was an accident! I promise."
Sam placed a hand on Ariannes' shoulder. "We know. Kiera will be fine. I think we should take her back to the cabins infirmary." She looked down at Kendall. "How are we going to do that?"
Kendall placed a hand under her chin and looked thoughtful. "We might be able to transport her by air." She whipped out her wand and twirled it, a cushion of air formed under the wolf and lifted her a couple feet into the air.
The army of Chaos soldiers made their way back to their cabin following behind the injured wolf.
Kendall set the wolf down on an unoccupied bed in the infirmary and shooed out everyone except Rebekah and Arianne. Kendall left soon after, but Rebekah stayed to check Kiera's vitals.
"I think she'll survive and be fit as a fiddle in about a week. I'll just leave you in peace." She walked out of the infirmary and into the living room just as Percy and Annabeth walked in, eyes red.
"Hey guy!" Henry bubbled. "Did we miss anything?"
So there's the chapter. Thought? Leave them in the comment section or PM me if you need to. Now, if you need me, I'll be taking a well-deserved nap.
