Sup, my ni- no. Hello happy readers (wtf did I just say?) I'm back after a really long wait. I know this chapter took forever, but hey, I'm not one of those guys who spends all day in their mom's basement coming up with this stuff. All fat and lethargic. I prefer to have a life and go outside sometimes. And by sometimes I mean two hours a week, not counting sports. But yeah don't worry this is back.
In completely unrelated news, I caught my first shiny this weekend. And no, it was not the red Gyarados at the Lake of Rage. I don't anyone really counts that as a shiny. It was a level 50 male Noctowl in the Pokemon Village in X. Also I (have not caught it yet) found Moltres and for some reason I thought it was a shiny. So I was pissed when it ran away without letting me doing anything.
Anyways, I don't own Pokemon.
"Wake up!' Joey was so startled to be woken up he fell out of his bed. He looked up to see June tapping her foot with an angry face like his mom would when he kept her waiting. He looked over to the clock to see it was 10:36. He slept in later than he usually does.
"Oh shoot, I overslept," Joey ran into the bathroom to take a shower. "To Azelaea Town," he said as he ran out of the room, dropped off his room keys at Nurse Joy's desk, and ran out the door. Eddie and June ran like crazy to try to keep up with him. Joey suddenly stopped and waited for his friends to catch up with him.
"Joey why'd you stop?" June asked.
"What is that place?" he said pointed to the bottom of the hill they were standing on. The area was full of stone structures.
"That would be the Ruins of Alph," June answered.
"Hey I've heard of that place! In history class my teacher said that people from ancient times lived there. And that they created an alphabet similar to ours," Joey said.
"Yeah, but no one knows how they came up with it," June added.
"Well let's go check it out," Joey started walking down the hill. He came across a pond, curious he stared at his reflection in it. What he didn't expect was a blue ball to jump out of the water and hit him in the face.
"Ow! What was that?" he said holding his face. He took his hands away from his face to see a blue circular creature with a white belly and a black spiral covering the belly.
"Poliwag!" It shouted as it jumped and used a Double Slap attack at Joey's face.
"Stop that!" Joey grabbed a hold of it. "Now let's see who you are," he pulled out his Pokedex.
"Poliwag, the Tadpole Pokemon. Water Type. Because it is inept at walking on its newly grown legs, it always swims around in water."
Poliwag continued to struggle in Joey's grasp whipping its tail back and forth.
"Joey, I think Poliwag wants to battle you," June said.
Joey turned to Poliwag. "Is that what you want?" Poliwag jumped out of Joey's hands and nodded saying yes.
"Okay then," he pulled out a pokeball. "Cyndaquil, let's go! Tackle!"
Cyndaquil popped out of his pokeball and charged the Water type. Before Cyndaquil made contact though, his opponent slapped him aside with a Double Slap attack. Poliwag then used Water Gun on the downed Cyndaquil.
"Cyndaquil, quick use Swift to counter it," Cyndaquil followed orders and sent stars straight for the stream of water. The Swift attack continued to attack Poliwag after stopping Water Gun. Poliwag was knocked down from the impact. "Now use Tackle." Cyndaquil charged and tackled Poliwag, knocking it out.
"Okay," Joey grabbed an empty pokeball from his bag. "Go poke-"
Joey was cut off mid throwing stance when he saw a red blur fly by him. The blur hit Poliwag and sucked it inside. When the blur landed Joey could see it was pokeball. It shook three times then beeped indicating the Pokemon was captured.
"Hey," Joey turned to see the person who threw the pokeball. "That was my capture!"
"Think of as we're even now," a familiar voice said.
"Rick?" Joey said surprised. "What do you mean?"
"You took my capture when you chose Cyndaquil as your starter. Now I'm taking this Poliwag to even the field."
"You said you didn't want Cyndaquil because it was too weak. Besides Cyndaquil wasn't yours or mine to begin with. He was a starter Pokemon for new trainers."
"Still we're even now." With that Rick walked away.
Joey screamed in anger. How could he go from stopping a thief to someone like that, he thought.
"Relax Joey, there's nothing you can do about it now," Eddie tried to calm down his friend.
"I guess you're right. Come on let's go."
"Hey! You three!"
Joey, June, and Eddie turned around. And a girl with purple hair wearing a green park ranger uniform, holding a bug catching net.
"You know you three aren't supposed to be here in the ruins during excavations," she said as she caught up to them.
"Sorry miss, we didn't know we were just trying to make our way to Azalea Town so I can challenge the gym leader," Joey explained.
The girl made an irritated face. "I'm not a girl..."
Joey backed off, "I-I'm sorry, you just looked like a girl to me," Joey defended himself.
The newly discovered boy held his head down glumly. "Why does everyone think I'm a girl."
June walked up to the boy. "Hey, I know you. You're Bugsy, the Azalea Town gym leader."
Bugsy took pride in remembering he was a gym leader. "Yep that's me," he said. "But right now I'm helping out with the excavation of the Ruins of Alph."
"When do you think you'll be back at the gym, Bugsy?" Joey asked.
"When I'm done here. There's a Pokemon causing trouble for the workers. They called me down here to take care of that," Bugsy answered.
"Then we'll help you," Joey decided. "The faster you're done here the faster I can challenge you to a gym battle."
"Bugsy!"
The gym leader turned around. "What is it?"
"The Pokemon's back."
"Okay thanks for letting me know, come on guys."
Bugsy had run up to a worker standing by entrance to one of the stone buildings. "Where's the Pokemon?" he asked.
"It's inside running around."
The group of four ran into the building. When they got far enough they could hear yelling and shouting. They turned a corner and three men all chasing a small light blue Pokemon.
The Pokemon had a football shaped head with pink antennae sticking out on both sides. It did not have any arms, just tiny legs and a tail on its behind. The Pokemon was sporting a huge smile on its face as it ran around.
"Woopa!"
"Wooper, the Water Fish Pokemon. Dual Water/Ground type. This Pokémon lives in cold water. It will leave the water to search for food when it gets cold outside," Joey's Pokedex gave the rundown on Wooper.
"Get over here you little-" the worker was cut-off by hitting his face on the ground.
"Woopa!"
"I'll stop it!" Bugsy pulled out a pokeball. "Go Meta-"
"Wait!"
Everyone turned around to where the shout came from. They all saw Joey walking up to Wooper. "Can't you see, all Wooper wants to do is play." He crouched down and rubbed its chin.
"Woopa!" It cooed.
"I don't care what that thing wants to do, I want that thing out of here!" the head worker demanded.
Joey, Bugsy, June, and Eddie all ran out of the tent as fast as they could.
When the group of four caught their breath Joey looked at Wooper. "Wooper you can't cause trouble like that, especially in a place like that."
"Woop!" Wooper sprayed a Water Gun in Joey's face and ran off.
"Hey, come back here!" Joey yelled and raced after the Water type.
June sighed and Bugsy took note of this. "What's wrong?"
"Sometimes I wonder if he'll ever get over his temper," she replied and walked the way Joey ran. Eddie and Bugsy quickly followed.
"Where are you?" Joey said as he looked for the Water Fish Pokemon. Wooper surprised him by jumping out of a nearby pond and shot a Water Gun attack at him again. The impact caused him to fall over. Wooper fell on the ground laughing. "You think that's funny, ha? I'll show you funny. Go Cyndaquil." Cyndaquil appeared in front of Wooper and flared ihis flames on his back.
"Quil!" he cried.
"Cyndaquil use Ember."
Cyndaquil spewed flames out of his mouth at Wooper and the Water/Ground type countered with a Water Gun and cancelled out Cyndaquil's attack. The strem of water continued and hit Cyndaquil.
"This Pokemon has great power and speed, not to mention we have fun together. I'm definitely going to catch you Wooper!" Joey said to the Water Fish Pokemon.
When Wooper heard this he had a huge toothy grin like he was happy to be captured. Wooper then shot a ball of mud out of its mouth. The Mud Shot attack sailed towards Cyndaquil.
"Cyndaquil dodge that attack!" Joey ordered. Cyndaquil successfully dodged the Ground Type attack. "Now use Smokescreen," the Johto starter then spewed flames out of his mouth. "Now Ember through the smoke, then flank with a Tackle."
Cyndaquil followed the orders of his trainer as he explained. Wooper was knocked over with swirls in its eyes.
"Go pokeball!" Joey tossed the red and white sphere at the Water Fish Pokemon. It sucked the Pokemon in with a red light and shook once, twice, thrice. Ding. Wooper was captured. "Great! Now let's check out your moves and junk."
"This female Wooper contains the attacks Water Gun, Mud Shot, Slam, and Yawn." Dexter announced.
"So your a girl," Joey restated the fact as he looked at the pokeball. "The first girl on my team."
"Joey!" the others came running to his side.
"Stop running off like that!" June started to scold.
"Relax mom. I'm not an idiot. I know what I'm doing."
"Do I have to bring up your near death experience again. And I told you to stop calling me that."
While the two were bickering Bugsy turned to Eddie. "Does this always happen?"
"Mostly on Wednesdays," he threw out Bulbasaur's pokeball. "Bulbasaur use Vine Whip to shut these two up."
"Bulba!" Bulbasaur extended its vines around Joey and June's mouths, stopping the bickering.
"I'd hate to break up a fight I'm not a part of," Eddie said. "But could you two possibly shut up."
They both nodded their heads. With a flick of Eddie's fingers Bulbasaur released its two prisoners.
"Hey Joey, what happened to the Wooper you were chasing?"
"You mean my newest Pokemon," Joey smiled widely showing his friends Wooper's pokeball. This conversation was quickly interrupted when Bugsy made a fake coughing noise.
"I'd hate to leave at time like this but I need to get back to the gym. Joey feel free to come by and challenge me. I can't wait to see how strong that Wooper is, same with your other Pokemon. June you can come too," he quickly said the last statement and walked off as soon as possible.
"Bye," Joey and his friends waved goodbye to the gym leader.
"Let's go to the Pokemon Center I'm getting tired," Joey said.
"Yeah, I need to restock on some supplies," Eddie agreed.
June only nodded in agreement. And with that the group of three walked in the same direction they saw the gym leader walk.
Well I took way way way way way too long to finish this chapter. Although school did get in the way. And sports. And Youtube. And work. And the internet. And por- nevermind, you get the point. I was busy.
So Joey finally got a his third Pokemon, Wooper! And he will be challenging Bugsy in the next chapter. And Team Rocket and Shane will return soon, not in the next chapter though.
So, some questions for you guys to guess what will happen next.
1. What will Joey's next Pokemon be?
2. Will Joey be able to defeat Bugsy on his first try?
3. Why did you think Bugsy run away when he said "June, you can come too?"
4. What was your first shiny encounter? (If you've had one.)
