I have a dream, that one day, I will have the rights to the Teen Titans, and not have to put a disclaimer in all of my stories.
Garfield smiled to himself at the way Raven had jumped off of him when the maintenance people finally arrived. They could hear them messing around on the other side of the door, which was a bit bittersweet. Sure, they weren't going to be stuck for much longer, but they would also have to go back to normal.
Whatever the hell that meant, anyway.
How was he supposed to act like nothing happened? Like the beautiful girl beside him hadn't kissed him, and admitted her sort-of feelings for him? Like he hadn't reciprocated those feelings, and agreed to take it slow? What was taking it slow, anyway? They were already in a "relationship", so wouldn't their affection towards each other be warranted? Sure, maybe they'd have to refrain from it in front of the people who knew they weren't actually dating (Victor and Jinx, especially), but did this mean Garfield could casually snake his arm around her waist when they'd stand in the lobby? Or nonchalantly brush her hand at the dinner table? Or even sneak a quick peck when out on the town, making sure Adonis had clear view? Or even if he couldn't see them, a few quick kisses here and there would be acceptable, right?
Glancing at her as she pulled herself up from the floor, he really hoped so.
Raven felt the blonde's eyes on her as he stood from his seated position as well. She was still coming down from the emotional high that admitting her attraction to him had given her. And him returning her feelings? That was definitely a spectacular feeling.
But they'd only known each other a week; they couldn't move any faster. She couldn't move any faster.
She bit her lip self-consciously, finding the pressure from her teeth to be way less pleasurable than the pressure from his lips. But she couldn't think like that.
A week. One week. It's only been a week.
She repeated that in her head as they stood together in an awkward silence. Sparing a quick glance at him, her face heated in an uncontrollable blush as he did the same to her.
Both their eyes darted away from each other as they wore matching expressions of embarrassment.
"We have confirmation that maintenance is working on the problem. You should be out soon. Again, we are sorry for the inconvenience."
Raven breathed a sigh of relief at the news- she'd only have to endure a few more minutes of awkward with Garfield.
"So I'd suggest taking the stairs, but it looks like we're only on the tenth floor, and that's a lot of walking."
She nodded absently as her heart fluttered at the sound of his voice. He bent over to retrieve the folders they had been holding before, and Raven found herself wondering when they had managed to spill across the floor. Her best guess was sometime in between the elevator stalling and their spontaneous lip-lock.
One week. It's been one week.
Garfield straightened back up and flashed his teammate a quick smile, which she returned shyly. He handed her a few of the folders, and as she took them from him, their hands brushed, sending a jolt of electricity through her body.
Oneweekoneweekoneweek.
Suddenly the elevator doors slid open, and Raven couldn't help but think that the tenth floor hallway was one of the most beautiful sights she had ever seen.
Garfield could feel Victor's eyes on him as he and Raven came to dinner late.
"Where'd you two run off to?"
Smiling innocently, Garfield quickly explained how the elevator stalled, though he left out the fact that they had been alone. And possibly made out a little.
His best friend's smirk grew devious as he wiggled his eyebrows towards the pale girl, who was too busy talking to Kori to notice.
"So you and Rae got to spend some quality time together, eh?" he mused, obviously pressing the blonde for more information.
Using his usual tactic of playing dumb, Garfield tilted his head quizzically. "Uh, I guess? I mean, we went over some of the information from today, if that's what you mean. Oh, and I'm totally not slacking off with this project, if that's what you're suggesting!" he exclaimed, hoping to lead Victor away from dangerous territory.
Victor only arched a brow in confusion, and Garfield felt a little more confident in the safety of his and Raven's secret. Though he really didn't like the way Jinx was smiling at him.
Seriously, did girls just have some kind of sixth sense for this kind of stuff?
Garfield continued to feel a sense of anxiety blanket him as the pink-haired girl's smile widened.
"Gaaaar," she sing-songed, a hint of malice seeping through her otherwise sweet tone. "You look nervous."
The blonde shifted uncomfortably in his seat. "Yeah, well, you keep staring at me. It's unnerving."
She rolled her eyes, dismissing his reasoning with a wave of her hand. "Like you can't stand being the center of attention," she mused sarcastically.
Garfield's eyes darted towards Raven, who he could tell was listening to his conversation, though her eyes remained focused on her dinner and Kori.
"I don't think Wally would appreciate you checking me out all the time," he bit back with a smirk, knowing Jinx would be infuriated.
Like he suspected, her face turned red in anger, and she growled under her breath. "Please, Garfield. You wish." She continued to look annoyed at his accusation- if there was one thing she hated, it was Garfield one-upping her with his comebacks. And though he personally didn't think that one was his best, it sure seemed to shut her up.
"Yeah, Jinx- besides, you know Gar and Rae are a happy couple!" Victor piped in, earning a smirk from the pink-haired girl and a flustered glare from the blonde.
Garfield spared another glance at his pale teammate, and though she was still talking to Kori, he could see a faint blush rising to her cheeks.
If only they could get away from all the prying eyes of their friends and work things out; he just knew he was going to unintentionally make things awkward, despite how well she could put on a mask. And even if the others wouldn't detect it, he'd know.
He sighed in exasperation, opting not to reply to Victor.
One more week, he chanted to himself. One more week, and we'll be back in Jump, and maybe able to be something... more.
He smiled at the thought, earning a curious look from his best friend, though he didn't seem to notice.
Raven could feel Jinx's eyes on her as she settled into her bed. All throughout dinner, the pink-haired girl had been giving Garfield a hard time, and now she suspected it was her turn.
Where was Kori when you needed her?
A girly giggle from the bathroom answered her question- apparently the redhead and Richard had discovered "the phone call".
Raven spared a peek at Jinx, whose mouth was opened in the beginning of a question. Thankfully, the dark-haired girl's generic ringtone cut her off. Swiping her phone off of the night stand quickly, Raven felt her heart skip a beat when she read the caller ID.
"Excuse me," she mumbled to Jinx, before hopping out of her bed and racing towards the door. She slipped into the hall silently, before answering her phone. "Hello?"
"He knows! I don't know how, but he does! I can tell! He keeps giving me this look, like he knows everything. Everything, Rae!"
The pale girl glanced across the hall at Garfield's door. "I'm in the hall."
The beep of her phone signaled to her that the blonde had hung up, and not even a second later his door opened slightly as he slipped through the crack, and then pulled it closed gently.
"He's asleep," he explained in a hushed tone, before all the color left his face while he gave her a horrified look. "And he knows."
Raven glanced back at her own door, before grabbing Garfield's wrist and pulling him towards the stairwell- she wasn't going to chance another elevator incident. Once they were safely out of the hall, Raven glanced over the railing, feeling a slight dizzy feeling at the small crack that went all the way to the ground floor. Shaking her head, she glanced up, and though she couldn't really tell if anyone else was there, she was confident that they could speak privately.
Turning back to the blonde, she was only mildly surprised to find him sitting on the steps with his head in his hands.
"He knows," he continued to mumble.
Sitting down beside him, but careful not to be too close, she waited for him to explain.
Garfield lifted his head, giving the pale girl beside him a weary look. "I don't know how he knows, but-"
"But he knows," she finished, somewhat impatiently. "We've established that, Garfield. Now can we move on to the part where you tell me how you know he knows?"
The blonde smiled sheepishly. "R-right. Uhm, okay, so, you know at dinner, how, uh... how they were kinda bugging me?"
Raven nodded slowly, feeling a blush creep onto her cheeks as she remembered eavesdropping.
"Okay, well, apparently I did something that made it totally obvious to Vic, and now he's... he's giving me these funny looks and smirks," he continued, feeling a little less freaked-out with Raven's calming presence.
"He knows we kissed?" She cringed internally at how casually she was able to say that.
Garfield's face turned bright red as he slowly shook his head. "Uhm, no..." he started, suddenly avoiding eye contact with her.
She couldn't blame him.
"Okay, so I think I should clarify- Vic knows something happened, but not what actually happened."
Raven nodded in realization, feeling incredibly stupid. And mortified.
"He suspects something happened, or is happening," she mused to herself.
Garfield sighed in agreement. "A-and I know that you wanted to, you know... take some time to figure out... whatever... and I just thought you should know that... that this 'secret' might be a little harder to keep than we... uh... initially thought."
Raven let out a groan of frustration- why was everything becoming so difficult?
Uh ohhhhhh! This isn't very good! How can Rae-Rae and Gar sort out their feelings with Vic and Jinx getting all up in their business? Will their secret be exposed? What will happen?

Btw, sorry for the late-ish update!
