Author's Note: Heeheehee! I may have enjoyed that last cliffhanger a little too much. Sorry about that. I am also sorry for not posting this sooner. Sadly my life has been a little more than insane this summer. I am hoping it will calm down soon, I somehow doubt it though, as my next semester of university starts shortly. Enough if me rambling though, what you want is the next chapter. I sadly own nothing, I am just borrowing heir strings to play. Please read and review!

Chapter 17:

"Alright but you two seem pretty close for just being his date for the evening. What's really going on here?" Fuyumi asks putting her hands on her hips.

"Sit down oneesan." Kyoya says pulling Haruhi closer to him. Fuyumi sits down on the edge of the bed but doesn't say anything.

"When I tell you this, you have to promise not to tell anyone. Not Shido-san, neither oniisan and definitely not father." He says shooting her a serious look.

"Alright...I promise." Fuyumi says looking confused.

"Haruhi and I are dating, she is my girlfriend, not just my date." Kyoya says and Fuyumi lets out another squeal. Very quickly she climbs across the bed and is hugging them both tightly.

"This is the best news ever!" She says hugging them tighter and tighter.

"Fuyumi...air..." Kyoya gasps out and she releases them. She then sits cross legged across from them, looking very excited.

"How long? Why aren't you telling people? Who else knows? How did you get together?" She quickly asks and the couple shares a look before laughing.

"Well we have been together for a month and only my father knows." Haruhi says figuring she doesn't want to make Kyoya do all the talking.

"As for not telling people, Haruhi has to maintain that she is a guy at school. The fewer people know, the easier that is. Plus we are not sure how father would react."

"I suppose but wouldn't telling your friends help you keep the secret? More people would be watching and fixing any slip ups? Also, father told you to bring her and get to know her better. Obviously he is interested in her for you."

"Yes but we are not sure how our friends would react." Kyoya says but Haruhi cuts him off.

"Some of them have feelings for me. Two have confessed and I am not sure if they are the only two. I don't want to hurt anyone or break up the group. Also, what do you mean he is interested in me for Kyoya?"

"That is fair but the longer you wait, the more you risk hurting them. As for your question, I will let Kyoya answer it." Fuyumi says standing up.

"Are you sure that is why he asked me to do this oneesan?"

"I overheard him with Yuuichi-oniisan saying Fujioka-san intrigued him at the Ouran Fair. He said you weren't accepting any proposals he put to you with Ouran girls saying they were not capable of having an intelligent conversation and you need at least that in a wife if it was to be an arranged marriage. After much research, father said he still found Fujioka-san interesting and was going to tell you to get to know her better and bring her to the ball. Even if I hadn't overheard though, that is what he did with Shido-san and I." She says with a shrug before walking away. She pauses at the stairs though and looks back at Haruhi.

"You and I are still doing lunch next week, you owe me the story of how you two got together." She says with a big smile and walks away.

"Well that was...interesting? Will she keep our secret?"

"As much as she can. She will probably tell Shido-san but that is it. I hope anyway."

"Alright but does this mean your father-"

"Wants to set us up in an arranged marriage? Most likely. I knew he was interested but I wasn't sure if it was for this or for the fact that you want to be a lawyer. Having a lawyer as a close family friend is always a good thing. I figured the former was more likely but I had no proof. My father normally keeps all his cards close to his chest."

"But we are just in high school! Also, I am not some pawn you can just use and play with!" Haruhi exclaims crossing her arms over her chest and moving away from Kyoya.

"Haruhi, I am not saying I condone his actions, in fact they piss me off. The problem is, arranged marriages are quite common in my social class." He says touching her shoulder.

"But I am just a commoner."

"And I keep turning down the upper class girls he throws my way. His research obviously found the great things I love about you."

"So what that makes it all okay? It gets rid of my lowness?" She asks shrugging off his hand.

"Haruhi..."

"What? You have obviously been put into arranged marriages before. Why am I any different? Besides, the fact that I am considered below you is never going to go away."

"No, to most people it's not. To me though, you are just Haruhi, the woman I love. I don't care whether you are a commoner or not. I just care about you. You are beautiful, loving, kind, extremely intelligent, you love my dry humour and can be just as sarcastic and witty as I am. I love you and was interested in you long before my father got any of these ideas."

"That was really sappy Kyoya. Not you at all." Haruhi says with a smile and kisses him.

"I know, but it is the truth."

"I know. Thank you. Seriously though, have you been put in a-"

"Father has tried but I turned them all down because the girls were idiots. Before you, I may have been willing to not marry for love but I did need to be able to talk to the girl without pulling out all my hair." He says and Haruhi laughs.

"Alright." She says and then realizes what he said. "Wait-did you?"

"I am not saying I want to marry you right now. I am just saying I love you and I now know that if I get married, I want to love the person I marry."

"Alright." Haruhi says releasing the breath she was holding.

I do hope you are the girl I marry one day. You really are the only person who I am able to completely let my guard down around. You love me for me and can keep up with my wit and sarcasm. Besides, you aren't afraid of waking me up. Kyoya thinks as he pulls Haruhi close to him again.
