Chapter 4: A few complications

Snape turned around, pointing his lit wand towards him. "Well, well. Lupin. Out for a little walk in the moonlight, are we?"

Lily's eyes widened in confusion. And apparently so did Lupin's, when he saw her."Lily? Are you all right?"
'No.'

"That remains to be seen. I have just now confiscated a rather curious artefact from Ms. Jones. Take a look,

Lupin. This is supposed to be your area of expertise. Clearly, it's full of Dark Magic. "

He handed the paper to Lupin.

"I seriously doubt it, Severus. It looks to me as if it is merely a parchment designed to insult anyone who tries to read it." He chuckled. "I suspect it's a Zonko's product."

As Snape went to take the map back, Lupin pulled away. "Nevertheless, I shall pursue any hidden qualities it may possess. It is, after all, as you say, my area of expertise. Lily, would you come with me, please?Professor, good night."

Lupin took Lily to his office. "Come in. Now, I haven't the faintest idea, Lily, how this map came to be in your possession."

"I haven't had it for long." She replied honestly. "Some friends gave it to me."

The professor sighed. "I don't think I need to ask who." He stated, "The Weasley twins, no doubt?"

She knew Lupin was a kind teacher and that he wouldn't punish Fred and George for giving it to her, so she nodded. "Yeah..."

He chuckled softly. "They never set much store by the rules, do they?"

Lily couldn't help but smile slightly. "I guess not. Professor, can I ask you something?"

He tilted his head slightly,"You want to know why I stopped you facing that Boggart, yes? I would've thought it'd be obvious, when it shape shifted in to Pan, I saw the dread in your eyes."

She tried to suppress the tears she felt peeking from the corner of her eyes, but they started to flow. "I-I couldn't help it. H-h-he was j-just so-"

"-Terrifying. I understand." Lupin stated. "I'm not angry at you Lily. It wasn't your fault." He reassured her. "But I must know, why on earth were you wandering around the castle at night?"

Lily bit her lip. "I-I had a nightmare... A-and wanted to be alone." She whispered.

He nodded sympathetically. "Would you like to talk about it?" He asked her.

Lily had never told an adult about her problem with Pan, but she trusted Lupin. "I've h-had them for a while... Since my first year."

His eyes widened slightly. "Have you ever talked about them."

"Only to Harry, Hermione, Ron, Fred, George, Felix and... Maybe Malfoy knows too, but..." She trailed off, ot so sure what she wanted to say.

Lupin gestured for her to sit down in front of the desk, as he did the same the other side. "What was your nightmare about."

Her hitched breath didn't go noticed, but he didn't react. "When I found out I wasn't Hagrid's daughter... I-I ran off into the forest with my brother... Then we heard this music, and we both felt like we had to follow it. So we did. It was coming from a pipe." Lily paused.

The professor waited patiently for her to continue. "There was a group of teenage boys dancing, as Pa- a hooded figure was playing the pipes. When he noticed me and Felix... He threatened us and said that when I turned seventeen, he'd come for me... un-unless we find the philosophers stone."

Lupin's eyes were wide. "When will you turn seventeen."

"I-in exactly thirty days." Lily whispered.

He sighed, frowning slightly s his gaze returned to the map. "I do happen to know that this map was confiscated by Mr. Filch many years ago. Yes, I know it's a map," He added when he saw how Lily looked amazed. "And I am astounded that you didn't hand it in. Particularly now after what you just told me. Did it never occur to you that this - in the hands of Peter Pan is a map to you?"

Lily just shook her head as in 'no' "No? I'm not angry with you,Lily." He repeated. "But as your teacher I can't let you have it back."

Lily had expected that and was too keen for explanations to protest. "Do you know the makers of the map?" asked Lily

"We've met," He said shortly. There was a small silence but it was soon broken. "Don't expect me to cover up for you again."

Lily lowered her head before she said, "Professor, I really need the map... I can't hide from Pan without it."

Lupin was looking at Lily more seriously than ever before. "You of all people should know how serious the circumstances really are, Lily. Your mother gave her life to keep you alive. A poor way to repay her-gambling her sacrifice for a bag of magic tricks."

"M-m-my m-mother?" She whimpered.

His eyes widened slightly. "Yes, Lily... Forgive me... I thought you knew..."

The sixteen year old bowed her head. "D-d-did you know her?"

"Yes. Oh, yes. I knew her. Your mother was there for me at a time when no one else was. Not only was she a singularly gifted fairy, she was also an uncommonly kind woman." said Professor Lupin.

Lily's eyes lit up, but the light soon faded when yet another question popped into her head. "H-how did you meet her?"

Lupin smiled a little. "There was this boy... I found him long ago, he was just a boy, a little younger than you at the time..." He sighed. "He was alone and starving on the streets... Homeless. At the time I had no idea where he came from."

Lily knitted her brows together, running the story over in her mind. "Where DID he come from?" She asked him, curious.

"A place called the Enchanted Forest." He replied. "Baelifre," Noticing the confused look on his students face,

Lupin chuckled. "Yes, Lily, that's his name... Anyway, I took him in and a few years after, a fairy paid us a visit."

"M-my mother?" Lily guessed, still dazed that her mother was a fairy.

Lupin nodded. "Yes. Her name was Silvermist. Now that I think about it... She looked a lot like you."

Lily smiled. "I wish I could've met her."

"I know, Lily... I know... But if there's one thing I've learnt about your mother, it's that she never gave up on anything. It was her who had helped Bae escape."
"Escape what?"

Lupin closed his eyes momentarily. "Neverland."

Her stomach churned at the name. "Oh."

"Your mother had stayed on that Island only god know how long. She gave Baelifre the last of her pixie dust so he could fly away..."

"Then how did she leave... Did Pan let her go?" Lupin noticed the hope in her voice.

But he wouldn't lie to her. "No. But if she hadn't you would never have been born."

"What? Why ever not?"

Lupin chuckled again. "Because a certain pirate, one that Baelfire had been very close to came to Neverland in search for a plant that killed his brother... A poison he intended to use on The Dark One."

Lily nodded. "What happened?"

"When Kilian found what he was looking for, your mother paid him a visit. She told him that Baelfire was safe and that she helped him escape. Pan had been listening but before he almost killed your mother... they managed to open a portal and return to the enchanted forest."

"So my mother escaped?" Lily asked hopefully.

Lupin shrugged. "She managed to be free for at least two years, long enough to have given birth to two children."

"Me and Felix." Lily stated. "Then... M-my dad... W-was he the-"

Lupin cut her off. "The Pirate. Yes. Kilian Jones."

"What happened after the two years?"

The professor could tell Lily was eager for more. "Pan found your mother... And when he did... He killed her...

Just after she sent her children to another world... This world."

Lily's eyes widened. "P-Pan... Killed my- Wait... My father... Is he still-?"

"I don't know Lily... But you should be getting back to the gryiffindor common room... The sun is almost up. And don't take any detours, Lily. If you do, I shall know." He gestured to the map and walked away, leaving Lily with far too many question marks hanging over her head.

Lupin and her hadn't realized that a certain boy with an evil smirk was flying outside the window of the classroom, eavesdropping to the conversation they'd just had.

Lily was now back at the common room and was surprised to see Hermione sitting comfortably with a book by the fireplace at this hour.

Hermione was interrupted by the sound of her footsteps stepping on the loose floorboards that were giving out a creaking sound.

She looked up from her book and spotted Lily.

The young witch could tell by the look on the other girls face that something was troubling her.

"Where have you been? I was worried sick... Are you alright, Lily?" She asked with worry as she closed the book.

Lily looked over at her from where she was standing before she replied, "I'm fine. Just ran into a few complications with Filch and Snape, that's all. Luckily Lupin came walking down the hallway just in time."

Hermione was surprised, but what to expect when you're best friends with Harry Potter and Ron Weasley?

"What happened? You don't have to explain the whole situation. Just tell me what happened when Professor Lupin came."

Lily looked at her with tired eyes. "The sun is rising and I want to get some sleep before I have to wake up in a couple of hours." She replied and started heading for the stairs.

Lily was definitely not a morning person. "I can understand that, but I want to help you and there must be something I can do!?" said Hermione, more than determined.

Lily has known Hermione for five years and knew how loyal she was to her friends. She also knew how devoted and stubborn Hermione was when it came to her books and finding answers. Especially when her friends were in trouble.

"Fine." said Lily and gave out a small sigh. Realizing that she shouldn't turn down help when she defiantly needed it.

She walked up to the fireplace and popped down into the chair that stood beside Hermione's.

"Lupin told me about my biological mother and what had happened to her," She began and could already the tears in her eyes. Hermione sat patiently in the chair next to her with her book in her arms, like a small child with a teddy bear she held so dear.

"Apparently, she had helped a young boy escape Neverland by giving the last of her pixie dust-" "Wait." Said

Hermione suddenly cutting Lily off. "Pixie dust? Lily, was your mother a fairy?"

Lily weren't amazed by Hermione's quick ways of figure things out.

Especially this time, yet Lily was quite worried. "You should be careful with how fast you use your brain, Hermione. One day you'll find yourself in big trouble because of it," Lily had no idea how correct she actually was. "Anyway, if I believe what Lupin said, then yes."

"He also said that my mother managed to stay hidden for two year with a pirate -"

"A pirate!?" exclaimed Hermione cutting Lily off again.

"Really? Again?" questioned Lily.

"I'm sorry." said Hermione as she continued. "It's just that there's so much I don't know about you... And this is coming from someone who knows all about Harry more than he does, which makes this so exciting."

"I understand your point." answered Lily. "And as I was saying: my mother managed to stay hidden with a pirate for two years who she obviously had a fling with because she gave birth to Felix and I."

"Your mother was a fairy and your father was a pirate? What happened to your mother? I mean how did she die and what happened to your father? Is he still alive and what's his name? Maybe I've read something about him without even realizing it."

Lily looked at Hermione with wide eyes after hearing all her questions and answered, "According to Professor Lupin. My mother knew Peter Pan was looking for her and before he managed to track her down and... kill her. She created a tornado that brought her two babies to this world."

"You and Felix." said Hermione and Lily nodded.

"I don't know if my father is still alive, or if Pan killed him too. All I know is that he was or is a pirate and that his name is, or was... Killian Jones."

"'Killian Jones'" repeated Hermione in her head after Lily had mentioned it as if she had heard of the name before, and if she had it wouldn't be a surprise to anyone.

Suddenly they heard a sound of two doors open and footsteps of Gryffindor students were now coming down the stairs.

"You should get yourself some sleep, Lily." said Hermione and stood up from the chair. Lily had no time to respond before the other girl had disappeared out of the common room door.

"Hey, Lily." Greeted Ron as he spotted her on his way down the stairs, that led to the boys dormitory.

Lily turned around and gave him a tired smile. "Want to play some wizard chess today? I bet you're better than Harry at it." Harry rolled his eyes when he heard Ron's statement.

"No, thank you." She replied, politely. "It's been a long night and I just want to get myself some sleep, maybe later." She said before she was about to climb up to the girls dorm, when Harry suddenly asked, "Where's Hermione?"

Lily turned her head to the right and looked straight into his green eyes. "She never said where she was going, but my guess: the library."

Both Harry and Ron smiled at her before they rushed out of the common room door.

Lily sighed slightly, and decided to have a nap by the fire instead.

So she made her way towards the big comfy armchair and fell asleep within minutes.

Hermione emerged from between the bookshelves looking irritable. "All the copies of the Seven Seas History have been taken out," She stated, sitting down next to Harry and Ron. "And there's a two-week waiting list."

"Why do you want it?" asked Harry.

"The same reason everyone else wants it, obviously," She said, "To read up a legend."

"What legend?" asked Ron quickly.

She shrugged. "That's just it, I don't know, and I can't find the story anywhere else -" she was cut off by the bell.

Harry and Ron left Hermione alone to grab some breakfast before it all was gone. 'The Restricted Section' she thought to herself.

"Of course! Why didn't I think of that first?" she whispered.

The Restricted Section is the part of the library young witches and wizards aren't allowed without a special permission.

Luckily, Hermione had just that. She had got it from Gilderoy Lockhart during her second year here at Hogwarts.

Hermione went through all the shelves until she saw 'National Registration Of The Sea.'

It was a big red book with a ship on the cover.

She pulled it out and placed it on the table closest to her.

Hermione went through all the records before she spotted him- Killian Jones.

"Found you!" She exclaimed in triumph as she kept on reading.

'Killian Jones also know as Hook, is the captain of the ship, The Jolly Roger, once names The Jewel Of The Realm.

His brother, Liam Jones, former captain of the ship died from the deadly poison, dreamshade.

Dreamshade had been their reason for their journey to the island, Neverland.

Their King had given them orders to retrieve samples of the plant, telling them that it was in fact a magical form of medicine.

Unfortunately, that had been a lie.

The death of Killian's brother in Neverland caused the change in the vessel's name, and the reason Killain became a pirate.

Years later, Killian got his nickname Hook, when he had lost his hand in a duel with 'thee who shall not be named'.

It is not yet confirmed, but rumoured that the pirate had fallen in love with a fairy known as Silvermist and she died by the hands of 'thee who shall not be named'.

More rumours state that Captain Hook has two children that were lost before their mother's death, and that he is to this day, still searching for them.'

Hermione kept on reading until she got to the part she was more interested in: current information.

For living in a world of magic, the books weren't just history, they somehow know what's happening in the present...

As if the person, place of object they're writing about let out a sort of signal.

'Status: Alive.

Nickname: Captain Hook.

Age: Nearly 300 years.'

"Alive? H-he's a-alive?" stuttered Hermione. The young girl got up from where she was sitting to go and tell Lily the good news.

But as Hermione stood up, she came face to face with Peter Pan.

"Hello, Granger." He smirked.

At first she didn't know who he was, but the cruel smirk on his face gave it away. "Pan."

He spread out his arms in confirmation. "The one and only."

Before she could reply, he blew something in her face and she blacked out.

Pan smirked at his good work and with a wave of his hand, Hermione vanished.

Meanwhile, Harry and Ron were making their way to the library.

Hiding behind the shelves, Pan watched them come in.

Pan smirked at his good work and with a wave of his hand, Hermione vanished.

Meanwhile, Harry and Ron were making their way back to the library after having stuffed their bellies full.

Their heavy discussion about Quidditch echoed between the walls. Hiding behind the shelves, Pan watched them come in.

"Where's Hermione?" Ron asked.

Harry frowned. "She was sitting in the corner over there, earlier. Maybe she's gone back to the common room?"

After Harry and Ron looked around the library for any signs of Hermione, they were unsuccessful, much to Pan's amusement.

He followed them, unknowingly by the two best friends back to the Griffindor common room.

"Password?" asked the Fat Lady.

"Pig snout," said Harry and the portrait swung forward and they stepped inside.

Fred and George sat on either side of the table reading the new schedule for their Quidditch drills Oliver Wood had given out to each and everyone in the team.

A group of seven girls sat on the floor near the fireplace and giggling at something, or someone they apparently find funny.

Ron walked over to one of the couches where Lily lay sleeping.

"Poor thing," Began Ron and looked down at her ",Too tired to climb the stairs to the girls dormitories."

Harry smiled down at the young beautiful girl and looked over at the corner of the room - Hermione's favourite spot.

Where she usually sat with a pile of books and parchment , but now left untouched. "She's not here," Harry stated.

Ron bit his lip. "Do you think we should wake her up?" He gestured to Lily.

Harry's stomach twisted with worry, but decided to ignore it.

She had probably just walked into the great hall to grab the last of the breakfast. Before it was time for lunch.

Harry nodded, and let Ron wake her up.

She groaned and almost hit him. "What?" She snapped.

"Um..." Ron started a bit nervous at the look she was giving him.

They knew her well enough not to wake her up.

"We can't find Hermione." In any normal world, a land without magic not finding someone would be really worrying.

Because people who disappear usually end up dead. And here, in the wizarding world it's no different.

"She is probably just in the Great Hall. Eating what's left of the remaining breakfast." Exclaimed Lily. At least that's what she hoped.

"That's what I first thought, as well," answered Harry, trying to camouflage his worry before he continued.

"The thing is, though. That they cleared the tables for fifteen minutes ago and Hermione would have been back by now."

"Lupin." Whispered Lily.

"What?" Her two best friends asked.

Lily was now suddenly wide awake. "We have to find Lupin."

"Lupin!?" repeated Ron confused.

"Why? What does he have to do with it?" Asked Harry, not understanding the coincidence.

"Last night after you stopped Draco and his two trouble makers from... Whatever..." Began Lily. "Your brothers Fred and George gave me a map."

"A map!?" exclaimed Ron frustrated.

"What kind of map?" Asked Harry curious.

"It's a map of Hogwarts. It's called the Marauder's Map. Not only does it show every classroom, every hallway and every corner of the castle, it also shows every inch of the grounds, as well. Has all the secret passages that are hidden within its walls and the location of every person in the grounds... It's also not fooled by animagi, polyjuice potions, or invisibility cloaks; even the Hogwarts ghosts are not exempt from this." Explained Lily.

"How come Fred and George never gave it to me!" said Ron, outraged. "I'm their brother!"

"Never mind that, Ron. With that map we can locate Hermione." Exclaimed Harry with joy

Lily lowered her head before saying. "The thing is, though. I don't have it anymore."

"What do you mean: you don't have it?" Asked Harry.

"I ran into a few complications on my way back here to the common room. Luckily... and unfortunately, I guess... Lupin came walking down the hallway, rescued me from Snape and confiscated it."

"Brilliant." Said Ron. "Now what should we do?"

They had been searching for Hermione for the entire morning, but no one had scene her at all.

In the end they decided she was missing and returned to the common room, where they half hoped to find Hermione waiting for them. "What if she was kidnapped?"

"Who would want to abduct Hermione?" Asked Lily in a quite voice so that everyone in the room wouldn't hear.

"Who'd want to frighten all the Squibs and Muggle-borns out of Hogwarts?"

"Let's think," said Ron in mock puzzlement.

"Who do we know who thinks Muggle-borns are scum?"

He looked at Lily and she looked back, unconvinced.

"If you're talking about Malfoy -"

"Of course I am!" Said Ron.

"Malfoy, a kidnapper?" Asked Lily sceptically.

"Look at his family," said Harry. "The whole lot of them have been in Slytherin; he's always boasting about it. They could easily be Slytherin's descendants. His father's definitely evil enough."

"Malfoy may be a lot of things, but being a kidnapper is not one of them." The young girl exclaimed.

Ron rolled his eyes at Lily's statement.

"Maybe he is, maybe he isn't, but we won't be able to find Hermione by sitting here and throwing accusations." Harry stated quickly.

"What do you suggest?" Muttered Ron.

"We need to split up."

"Split up!?" repeated Lily confused.

"Yes." Answered Harry before he continued.

"Ron and I will start looking at the east side of the castle, and you, Lily."

"You can go and look for Lupin." Lily nodded in response and were about to walk out of the Gryffindor common room door.

When she heard him say. "Ask him to have the map back," but the young girl had already disappeared out of their sight.

Lily walked down the stairs to Professor Lupins class in Defence Against the Dark Art on the first floor. When she suddenly felt something, or someone grabbing her right arm.

Before Lily could even comprehend what was happening, she was locked in a broom cupboard with- "Pan."

He chuckled darkly. "Hello Lily. Miss me?"

The demon didn't even need to hold her in place, the cupboard was so small that his body was crushing her against the wall.

However, Lily fought widely against him. "Let me go!" She yelled.

Pan let out a growl, his hand now over her mouth. "Calm. Down." He whispered threateningly. "We wouldn't want anyone else joining us now, would we?"

Lily whimpered as his hand slowly lowered. "What do you want?" She snapped.

He raised an eyebrow. "We didn't get to finish our little game last night." He stated, a small smirk appearing on his face.

"I've got twenty nine days left." Lily reminded him. "I don't intend to have you grope me everyday until then... Just leave me alone!" Lily squirmed again.

"Sorry, can't." He chuckled. "Well, I could, but I won't. I came here... To talk about a friend of yours..."

Lily's eyes widened. "Hermione." It wasn't really a question.

Pan smirked. "Yeah... You were right about her, you know..."

"What?"

He chuckled, planting small kisses on her neck that Lily tried so hard to ignore. "Her knowledge did get her into trouble."

Lily unsuccessfully tried to push him off of her. "No! What d-did you do t-to her?" She demanded. "If you hurt her I swear you'll regret it." She seethed.

Pan scoffed. "Was that a threat?"

Lily hesitated, knowing what she was about to say was probably rather foolish but she couldn't show him she was afraid...

She refused to be weak. "Yes." She snarled. "Now, give her back to me!"

Pan cupped her cheek. "Sorry. Can't. Not until I get the stone... And you."

Lily gasped. "B-b-but you said you only w-wanted the s-stone!"

He smirked. "I do... But I just happen to want you as well."

She shook her head in disbelief. "You're a monster."

He shrugged. "You'll get used to it." He winked, before vanishing before her very eyes.

Her heart stood still and she was frozen to the spot, after hearing Pan's statement.

'Somewhere down the line you're going to get what you deserve.' Lily thought to herself before she bolted out from the broom cupboard.

The young girl rushed down the corridors in an attempt to find her two best friends.
