A/N- I am sorry this took so long for me to update. I am getting closer to my graduation date and all my time and energy has been going into school at the moment. I have also been revising this chapter a lot because i want this chapter and the following chapter to turn out the way that i feel they should so, I have been taking my time and trying to get them right. I hope my constant revisions between papers for class have paid off!. I have also decided that I will be writing an alternate ending for this story with an Callie and Arizona ending, I was considering it and then someone suggested it and that pretty much sealed the deal. It will follow this story to about chapter 13 and i will write the Callie and Arizona ending from there. It will most likely have a different title as well. I have also deleted the chapter about how I feel towards people that take fanfiction to far simply because I really like my chapter numbers to coincide. So now without further ado chapter 14!
Jesse watches Amelia from across the cafeteria wishing he had not been talking a big game to his family and Callie. He had yet to make a move since Callie had given him the okay and his brothers and cousin had been relentless with the teasing, Only Callie had given him mercy but even that was only for so long.
"Look, if you don't go introduce yourself I am going to pin you down and let Callie give you a make over complete with hair clips and make up." Jesse's bravado drops when Callie perks up at the Erica's words.
"I'm not eight years old anymore Erica." Jesse responds defiantly.
"Exactly." Erica replies taking a drink from her water bottle. "In this day and age pictures could end up on all kinds of social media sites, because I assure you Jesse if you keep annoying us I will pin you down and Callie will make you look very pretty." Erica smirks as she catches Callie out of the corner of her eye. The brunette has taken a tube of lipstick from her pocket and begun to apply it using a compact mirror also pulled from her pocket. When finished Callie smacks her lips together for emphasis and Jesse fidgets nervously.
"So what is it going to be?" Erica asks.
Erica and Callie watch Jesse as he makes his way across the hospital cafeteria.
"You think he will do it?" Erica asks leaning forward in her seat.
"Of course he will he has no choice." Callie smiles and pockets the lipstick and mirror.
Cristina walks up to their table just at Jesse gets Amelia's attention.
"What are we watching?" Cristina asks as she sits next to Callie.
"Jesse" Callie answers. Cristina looks towards Jesse and Amelia. The goofy smile on Jesse gives him away almost instantly.
"Holy shit is the eighth dwarf dopey over there attempting to establish a mating ritual with a Shepard?!" Erica makes a face of disgust.
"A mating ritual. Really Yang that's my baby cousin you are talking about." Cristina shrugs and pulls out a twenty slapping it on the table.
"I got twenty on him not even getting her number!" Cristina responds and turns in her chair, pizza in hand to watch the show.
"Well I bet 20 that he can." Callie responds in Jesse's defense. Erica shakes her head as she swallows her food.
"I am with Yang. 20 that he can't talk to her let alone get her number." Cristina has a self satisfied look on her face.
"And she is his cousin." Cristina responds confidently. Callie rolls her eyes at them both and watches the exchange before them.
"Come on Jesse." Callie whispers under her breath.
The three woman watch the exchange for the next five minutes making sure to at least eat their food so they don't look like complete creepers. Finally Jesse smiles and shakes Amelia's hand before making his way back to the table. Jesse sits in his seat as the three woman watch him expectantly.
"Well?" All three ask at the same time. When he does not answer after a few seconds Cristina looks triumphant.
"Pay up Torres." Callie looks deflated but reaches for her purse when Jesse puts a small piece of paper in the middle of the table. Written across it is Amelia's name and number.
"Damn son." Cristina slumps back into her chair and pushes a twenty across to Callie. Erica smiles at her younger cousin and slides money to Callie as well.
"Et tu brute?" Jesse asks feigning hurt. Erica shrugs her shoulders a little.
"What can I say kid. You have never been smooth with the ladies."
"Well I am down twenty bucks because I was sure your cousin knew what she was talking about. Cristina shakes her head and stands
"Well down kid." she claps a hand on his shoulder before walking away.
Jesse watches Cristina leave in disbelief.
"See what you have done." Jesse looks at Erica with an accusatory glare. He steals an apple slice off of Erica's tray "She has to be my age. A couple of years difference tops and even she is calling me kid." Jesse takes a defiant bite from the piece of apple in his hand.
"Sorry...kid." Erica responds. Callie laughs hard at the look at on Jesse's face.
"Whatever. I still got the girl." Jesse mumbles.
Callie slides up to Arizona and wraps an arm around her waist. The blonde smiles and leans into her wife's embrace. She can feel Callie's breath tickle her ear and is sends shivers down her spine.
"Hello gorgeous." Arizona hums in appreciation. "Think I could convince you to go out to dinner with me?" Arizona smiles.
"What's the occasion?" Callie spins Arizona around and presses her against the counter.
"Us." Callie responds and leans in to kiss Arizona deeply. The blonde's eyes are still closed when Callie pulls away slowly a confident smirk on her face. She waits the few seconds extra it takes for the blonde's eyes to open. "A group of our people are taking the kids to some trampoline park and dinner. I thought we could go have dinner and meet up with them at the trampoline park. So, what do you say?" Callie wiggles her eyebrows at Arizona in anticipation. Arizona smiles and nods her head.
"I will be done here in half an hour. I have some clothes here I can change into." Callie does a happy dance.
" I am going to go home and get ready and I will come back and pick you up in an hour." Arizona nods her head and Callie gives one more quick kiss before leaving the hospital.
Callie feels on top of the world when she enters the hospital parking lot. After everything her and Arizona have gone through recently and even the thought that Boswell is still lurking in the shadows of their lives could not bring her down in this moment. Despite all of that her and Arizona were not just surviving they were living now. They were even happy.
Callie begins to open her car door when she feels a blinding pain across her back. She stumbles in to her car taken off guard by the sudden pain. It takes her a few seconds to regain a sense of balance. Somewhere in the background she swears she sees a flash of light. Callie turns slowly and comes face to face with Boswell. The woman looks at her with a look of distaste.
Callie looks at the bat hanging loosely from the other woman's hand. Lauren catches it and gives her a sinister and slightly crazy smile.
"You know if you had just gotten out of the way it wouldn't have to come to this." Lauren tells her slightly swinging the bat in her hand. Callie scoffs in indignation and anger.
"Excuse me?" Callie shakes her head in disbelief at the situation. "You mean if I moved aside and allowed you to take my wife, my child?" Lauren shakes her head at the mention of Sofia.
"I only wanted Arizona and she wanted me or she wouldn't have come to me when you couldn't deliver." Rage like Callie has never know explodes through her body. She can feel her body flush with warmth. "By the way you could have kept your brat." Lauren adds as an afterthought swinging the bat at Callie. She is just fast enough to move out of the way but hears the bat connect with her car window breaking it. The sound of breaking glass startles Boswell and Callie throws herself at the woman catching her off guard. Both woman fall to the ground the bat falls from Lauren's hand and rolls away useless. Lauren struggles to get back on her feet, the wind knocked out her. Callie recovers her footing faster and waits for the other woman to get to her feet.
Callie can feel the anticipation run through her. She is fighting for her family and in her mind nothing trumps that, not even crazy. The two woman size each other up waiting for an opening. Callie knows all she needs if for the other woman to make a mistake to show her a weak side and her years of training as a professional bone breaker will be unleashed. Callie smiles wickedly at the though and the look on her face causes the other woman to misstep. This is the opening Callie had been waiting for and she takes it without hesitation.
