A/N- I am back. I have not abandoned this for those still reading. I am on my final break from school before I graduate in January. I have two weeks to get as many chapters up before I have to tough out my final term of school. I have two more chapters that I need to revise. I will start chapter 19 soon. I hope to get chapter 20 up before the two weeks is up. The end to this story is nearing the more I write. I will make good on my word at that point and write a Callie/Arizona ending! Also for any of you interested I was stuck with an idea, much like I was for this story but for Jane/Maura. It has been pouring out of me much like this one. I will be posting it at some point during my break if anyone is interested in checking it out. Without further ado chapter 16.

The brunette turns to find Erica, Cristina, and Alex looking at her.

"Holy shit!" Erica says dropping her stuff and rushing to Callie. She reaches her just as the orthopedic surgeon begins to stagger and holds her up as Callie's body starts to sag. "What the hell happened?' Erica asks inspecting Callie.

"She did." Callie responds nodding weakly back to Lauren still on the ground.

"Holy shit!" Alex and Cristina respond this time. Both go to Lauren and pick her up off the ground. Erica leads Callie back into the hospital while Cristina and Alex take a look at Lauren. Alex gives an impressed whistle.

"Looks like she really let the cage fighter out on this one."

"Tell me about it." Cristina responds in agreement. Lauren is only slightly coherent but Cristina and Alex manage to drag her into the hospital. They are doctors after all they reason, at the very least it is their job to make sure no one dies.

"Alex where is Sofia?" Callie asks as Erica helps her back to the hospital.

"With Jo she has the bigger car for their car seats. We were on our way to meet everyone. Don't worry I will let her know. Sofia is safe." Callie nods her head relieved.

Arizona almost doesn't hear Bailey calling for her down the hallway. She is so intent on getting to the employee parking lot. She finally stops when Bailey bellows the blonde's last name down the hallway. The shorter woman catches up to her almost out of breath.

"Arizona you need to come with me. I'll explain on the way." Arizona does not argue and follows the shorter woman her stomach doing somersaults. Arizona can practically feel her heart beating out of her chest.

"Bailey what's going on? Did Sofia get hurt at the trampoline park?" Bailey shakes her head.

"No, we didn't even make it to dinner. I was just on my way out to meet everyone." Arizona knows what is coming but she is almost afraid to ask. Her voice cracks as she begins to voice her other fear.

"If it's not Sofia then..."

"It's Callie." Bailey interrupts.

"Callie but I just saw her not that long ago. She was on her way home." Arizona can feel her heart rate pick up again as she tries to be rational and hold on to the last bit of hope.

"Please tell me she's okay Miranda...please." Arizona whispers the last part and the shorter woman knows that she is looking at a broken woman. Miranda grabs Arizona's hands and makes the blonde look at her.

"Callie is going to be okay but she had a run I'm with Lauren and..." Arizona pulls her hands from Miranda's at the name.

"Where is Callie?"

"In the ER." Bailey responds without hesitation. Arizona takes off towards the ER with Bailey close behind her. When Arizona gets there she sees Lauren first bloody and sitting on a gurney. Owen is treating her.

"What did you do to her?" Arizona's voice is steady but drips with venom. Lauren looks up with hope in her eyes that Arizona might be concerned about her, Miranda rolls her eyes and Owen shakes his head.

"What did you do to my wife?" Lauren instantly deflates but a look of malice fills her eyes.

"She got what was coming to her." Arizona moves towards Lauren with fury. Owen only has enough time to block her path when she feels someone pull her back. She looks up and finds Erica holding her back which only increases her anger. Of course it's her she is always there. She stopped Callie from destroying her career the first time and now she is here keeping Arizona from making an even bigger mistake and it infuriates Arizona. This is the woman that is waiting for her to make a mistake to put Callie's emotional and physical well-being at risk and the gut wrenching thing for Arizona is she knows the mistake has been made; it was made long before Erica came back.

"Let go of me." Arizona's voice is filled with rage. Erica responds by tightening her grip on her. Arizona explodes throwing herself forward and breaking Erica's grip. She turns on the blonde all the anger she is feeling now directed at Erica. There is no fear on the taller woman's face but more acceptance of what is about to happen. Arizona stalks towards her and is a few feet away from Erica when Alex steps in between them.

"Arizona don't she's not the one that you are mad at."

"You have no idea what I am mad at." Arizona scream shoving Alex. he stumbles a little but stands his ground. Arizona runs her hands through her hair tears beginning to stream down her face.

"She just came out of nowhere and ruined everything. We were so happy and then here she comes with her blonde hair and good looks. I was at my worst and because of her look at what I have done to Callie." Arizona dissolves into tears and those around her know Erica is not the blonde that Arizona is talking about. Alex wraps an arm around her and steers her away from the middle of the E.R. Erica makes her way back to the room Callie is sitting in. Callie perks up when she sees the door open but deflates when she sees it is Erica. I thought you would be Arizona. Erica sighs and sits next to her. Jackson had already taken a look at Callie's face and even though she swears she had no broken bones they wait for Jo to show up and confirm. She is the only person Callie would allow.

"She's here. She ran saw Boswell and went a little ballistic can't say that I blame her. Alex and I stopped her from inflicting more damage then you already did. She will be here don't worry." Callie looks concerned but relieved that Arizona is at least in the hospital with her. Jo comes and confirms that Callie has no broken bones. She informs them that she and Alex are going to take Sofia for the night. She almost seems excited and it makes Callie smile. Alex might have finally found a good one.

A few minutes after Jo leaves there is a knock on the door. Arizona comes inside the room Callie is in. Erica says nothing as she gets up and leaves, neither woman looks at the other. When Callie looks at Arizona she finds tears in her eyes.

"Callie I am so sorry. If I had known I would have never let you leave alone." Callie reaches out to her wife and pulls her forward into her waiting arms.

"This is not your fault. You could not control what that woman did. You did the best you could to thwart her advances but you can't fight crazy." Arizona smiles at this.

"You certainly tried." Callie shakes her head.

"I didn't try I did and I won. She met her match." Callie falls asleep after she receives some pain medications. Arizona is in no hurry to wake her so she watches the brunette from her seat beside the examination table. Arizona holds her wife's hand and cries. She brushes away some hair from Callie's face letting the feel of Callie's skin linger on her fingertips. Arizona leans in and kisses Callie's lips tears in her eyes.

"I promised I would keep you safe and that is exactly what I am going to do from now on. I promise." Arizona's vision is being blurred by the barrage of tears in her eyes but she has never been more certain of what she needs to do next.
