Okay so this is more of a flashback chapter BECAUSE OMG DO I NEED CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT. (More SPN references in this I seriously don't know what else to call them so maybe this is a hinted crossover…..haha) Oh I added some more depth to the little Lovino snippet last chapter in the beginning of this one.
Also sorry for the long wait…..again…..haha. Yeah I'm a terrible person.
I don't own Hetalia. Sadly. Or Supernatural.
Lovino had been hunting Abnormals since he was a small child or at least pretending to. His Grandpa had been the one to do the actual hunting while he stayed behind at their house "comforting" his twin brother (because Feliciano was so perfect and had to be babied while Lovino was basically kicked to the curb) -with very choice language and dreaming he was in the woods ridding the world of monsters along with his Grandpa.
It had been like a dream come true when the the Institute recruited him. Finally some recognition, finally he wasn't just the grandson of the great hunter or the perpetually pissed off twin of that cute little Feliciano. He had meant something. So Lovino had started trying harder, pushing himself to be better than everyone else, especially when they recruited his brother, well more like dragged him in kicking and screaming and clutching white-knuckled to the hem of his "perfect" boyfriend's shirt.
Why did Feliciano get to settle down? Why did Feliciano get to have everything he ever wanted while Lovino had to work his ass off to scratch the surface of the growing pile of things he wished for. If he had it his way he would be respected, not just in the job but at school too. He would also be dating Antonio, but he wasn't an idiot, he saw the way the stupid French bastard and him looked at each other. The Tomato Bastard was taken…..
Whoa whoa whoa, did he just fucking think that?
Lovino shook his head to clear his head of his internal musings, rantings, or combination there of. He had tracking to do, they weren't lying when they said he was the best one in the fleet.
And this was just too easy. They hadn't even bothered to cover their tracks. With Ludwig leading them Lovino would've thought there would be more of a challenge but this. This was childs play.
Or it would be if Ivan would shut the hell up. He had been babbling the whole trip making concentration almost impossible. His sister on the other hand had been stone cold and silent as usual. Lovino didn't know whether to thank the Lord or run for his life, Natalia did have that cold, calculating look on her face like she was planning the best way to murder you.
Probably because she was. Like Lovino Natalia had been raised in this life style but, unlike the grumpy Italian who had been eased into it, she had been thrown in head first. Natalia had known how to shoot a gun since she could walk, her brother Ivan was no different although he had been a bit more reluctant.
….And he was back in the musings. Maybe it would be easier to concentrate if he didn't have to escape the chatter-box that was Ivan.
"SHUT-A THE HELL UP BASTARD!" Lovino finally lost it, momentarily forgetting this was supposed to be a silent mission. Well, quiet. Ivan was keeping it from being silent.
The Russian boy gave a nervous chuckle, good, Lovino was intimidating him. The slight Italian almost smiled at that thought. "Oh don't be like that Lovi!" Ivan all but yelled. "We are almost there correct?" Smile gone.
Lovi rolled his eyes and said through gritted teeth, "I already answered-a that idiota."
Ivan grinned. "Technically you told me to stop asking stupid questions. That's not an answer."
Lovino was about to make a snarky response, or perhaps let Natalie knock Ivan out which she was silently begging him to let her do, when something caught his eye. It was a scrap of blue fabric hanging limply from a branch. It was obviously from the cuff of a jacket, two brass buttons hung from it each with a symbol carved into them. And, much to his dismay, Lovino recognized both of them. A looking glass with a pair of fangs reflected within, the Abnormal "military" symbol. They had started giving the Institute trouble a while back, it was (as far as any Hunters could tell) a small organization, composed mostly of Abnormals and a few human supporters. The monsters apparently had tired of killing solo and had banded together to make one, large, killing machine. And the other symbol was a pair of initials, F.V., obviously one of the Abnormal soldiers.
No...wait…..
Lovino looked closer, it was faded but obviously someone had drawn a mark in Sharpie on the 'F'. It looked to be….well Lovino's hair curl…..no, F.V. Feliciano's hair curl.
Feliciano.
No.
His brother was NOT part of that filthy group of monsters…..but….he was wasn't he?
And now Lovino would have to…
"Call in backup." He ordered one of the two siblings behind him.
That fucking idiot.
Matthew observed the scene from the farthest place in the cave from the werewolf girl. The rest of the group was all huddled around her and Feli, tending to an unconscious Italian and firing questions at Lilli.
"Hey, vhatcha doing over here Birdie?" Gilbert sat next to him and ran a hand through his silver hair.
Matthew smirked at the nickname but his face fell quickly and he pointed to Lilli. "Hiding." He whispered.
"From Lilli? I doubt she bites.." He nipped at the air between them teasingly and pulled Matthew closer to him. "It's me you have to vorry about." He mumbled burying his face in the Neko's soft blonde curls.
Matthew blushed and lost his train of thought momentarily, an echo of Elizabeta's squeal echoing in his years. He shook his head, his ears twitching in annoyance. "Cats and dogs don't mix" He whispered.
"Vell, get along." He stated it as if it were simple. "Hiding is very unawesome."
"Says you." Grumbled the Canadian.
"Ja, says me. And I am the expert on all things awesome!" He really should've stopped right there, but the vampire kept rambling. "Like you are awesome, you kissing me vas awesome, me not having the balls to ask you out is not awesome."
"Wha...Maple!" Matthew buried his now scarlet face in his tail.
Gilbert rubbed the bite mark on his neck nervously. Wait why was he nervous? It had been
Matthew that had kissed him, they obviously liked each other right? What if Canadians were just over affectionate in general….like the French? He should've asked Francis for advice…he could've gone and gotten roses...why didn't he get roses!? Oh right because he was in a cave. Still, Francis knew better than he did in these situations, Francis knew what a person liked to hear, knew how to flirt with them and turn anything into either a sexual innuendo or a complement, before being turned Gilbert had relied mainly on his "exotic" looks and cocky but charming personality to hit on people. Mostly girls, though the occasional guy had caught his attention. But since this summer he realized he'd become a very socially awkward person and just didn't know how to do this anymore!
"Uh...uh...Birdie vill you-"
"Dudes! Whatcha over here for!? Feliciano's waking up!" Alfred practically skipped over with a large oblivious smile on his face.
"R-right…" Matthew answered his brother a little sadly. "I'll...er..we..yeah, come on Gil." He pulled the vampire to his feet and shuffled over to stand a little closer to the rest of the group, tail and ears drooping.
Gilbert hissed at Alfred his ruby eyes glinting almost menacingly.
"Geez dude, what was that for?!" Alfred put his hands on his hips and glared at the vampire.
"Mmm.." Feliciano groaned squeezing his eyes closed and Ludwig practically tackled him.
"Feli?!" The blonde gently shook his boyfriends shoulders. "Feli are you okay!?"
"Of course he's okay, you twat. I healed him myself." Arthur grumbled, arms crossed across his chest. "What I don't understand is how he got in that state." He looked at Lilli expectantly.
Lilli ducked her ahead with a mixture of shame and embarrassment. "We ran into some hunters on the way here." She mumbled, eyes flickering to the boys semi-conscious form.
"And you had to protect him no?" Francis attempted to fill in the blanks.
Lilli's turquoise eyes widened almost comically. "Oh no! He had to protect me most of the time! He's a very good fighter, if you give him the right weapon of course."
"Feliciano!?" They all, even Matthew, asked in disbelief.
"Y-yeah? You didn't know he could fight?" She asked timidly. They all shook their heads, they couldn't imagine cowardly Feliciano ever doing anything in a battle besides hiding under his bed and praying for it to go away.
They were about to ask more when a sleepy but happy "Vee…" came from the center of the cluster of people and amber eyes opened.
"Feliciano!" Ludwig cried happily, wrapping his partner in a hug.
"Luddy!" The Italian said back just as excited.
"Mein Gott I thought you vere dying! Never do zat to me again!" He ordered, steel blue eyes fixed on Feli's amber ones.
"I-a promise!"
"Ich liebe dich." Ludwig whispered. And for once, not caring who was watching he leaned in for a kiss, which Feliciano happily returned.
There was a collective 'aww' among the more sappier members of the group (Francis, Antonio, Lilli and Alfred) - and Gilbert reached for Matthew's hand, wishing that he could've said the same thing to the Canadian boy just a few minutes earlier.
Alright I hoped you liked the new chapter. Sorry again for the wait! Review?
