A/N: OKAY GUYS IT'S FINALLY HERE! This chapter would not have been possible without my good friend Athena. ( Her Wattpad is AthenaStories and her Tumblr is socially-awkward-angel and/or multi-fandom-weeb go check her out!) She is the one that wrote most of this fight scene because I am a piece of shit that can't write battles. So applause for Athena. Many applause.
I do not own Hetalia. I will never own Hetalia. Ever…..
WARNING: Graphic descriptions of violence *glares at Athena even though I was egging her on* So if you're triggered by that scroll down to the end of the chapter to receive a basic summary of what the hell went on in this chapter.
Gilbert could practically taste the blood already, his mouth watering even more. "No, just a bit longer...' he hissed at himself, pushing back the hurg to launch himself into the heat of the battle. The loud echoing sound of Ludwig's pistols bouncing off the surrounding area pounded into Gilbert's ears, screams of joyously dying soldiers hung in the air.
The others were lost in the sea of fighting, Sometimes he saw a flash of blonde fur or the glow of Kiku's Hoshi no Tama as they grappled against the opposing army. A firebolt here and there from Arthur, pathetic crying from Francis and Antonio as they threw stones at the enemies, actually they were pretty good shots, Matthew was nowhere to be seen, although his sensitive nose picked up the neko's scent nearby, mixed with the delicious smell of blood and gore.
Gilbert's breathing turned ragged and uneven as he struggled to keep the monster down for what seemed an eternity, the blood boiling in his veins, screaming at him to tear someone or something apart. A sudden heart-piercing cry of pain ripped the air in two.
"NO!" Gilbert's head snapped up, glowing red eyes pierced through the battleground, seeking out the owner of the familiar voice. A small figure was kneeling on the ground in a weary defensive position, four of the most heavily armed soldiers approaching him, he was injured, his tail looked broken. No tail. No balance. The neko probably couldn't stand without tremendous pain and difficulty, yet there he was, fighting his hardest to survive. "STOP PLEASE!" He heard the Canadian yowl as one of them stepped on his already injured tail, aiming a gun at the neko's temple.
Matthew's cry tore through Gilbert's ears, that was the last straw. Gilbert jumped into the fray, pinning down the soldier that had the gun pressed to Matthew's temple, the petty armor protecting him was tossed aside like table scraps. His fangs clamping down on the soldier's throat. The hot blood pouring down his throat as he bit down harder, his teeth crashing back together; pulling back Gilbert gasping for air, blood staining the collar of his shirt. His head whirled around, his glowing eyes landing on another one of the four soldier's.
"I AM GOING TO BE ZHE LAST THING YOU SEE!" The albino growled, his voice sounding animalistic, even in his own head. The small part of him that wanted to cower behind a boulder, plug his ears, and hope for the whole thing to be a bad dream, screamed at it, calling Gilbert a monster, he didn't even try to deny it anymore. He was a monster. He liked being a monster. And that realization freed him, he was no longer hidden behind the facade of humanity, he was no longer imprisoned. He had been let out, he had nothing to hold him back now.
Gilbert grinned psychotically, his eyes blazing with bloodlust, a new power rushed through his body. Racing for another armed soldier he tackled him to the already blood soaked dirt, hands grasped his arms, merely leaving behind a mark, he was going to die anyway so why not have a little fun. Ribs snapped as Gilbert brought his foot down onto the man's chest, digging his heel in deeper, relishing in the sound of gasping and choking. Blood splatter's the soldier's dark armor with a crimson red, licking the red off his lips Gilbert pops his knuckles, proceeding to clench his fist and then repeatedly pound it into the man's face. More sticky liquid littering the ground, shaking with rage he stopped, the soldier's face beaten literally to a pulp. Nothing recognizable. Gilbert whirled around, Ludwig had the third soldier at point blank range, the fourth ran towards Matthew.
"G-Gil-!" Matthew's call was cut short, the soldier shoved the neko to the ground, his tail limp and even more useless under the man's foot. Crushing it more only made Matthew cry louder, more rage surged through Gilbert as he growls, like the monster he that was Gilbert rushed forward, colliding with the soldier. The two fell over Matthew, Gilbert landed on top, the soldier pinned under him.
"Say hi to your friends for me…" Without hesitating Gilbert hisses, opening his jaw, the fangs dripping with blood-mixed saliva. In a last second attempt the soldier moves his leg, to have it broken at the knee by a swift kick. Screaming for freedom made Gilbert want to kill this man even more, the pleads sinking into his mind, encouraging the monster. Gilbert wasted no more time, the monster latched onto his neck, the holy feeling of hot blood gushed down his throat again. He drank as much as he could, the monster had drained the soldier of all the substance he could obtain.
"G-Gilbert..?" the neko's voice sounded timid from the ground, he clutched his injured tail protectively.
'Matthew… Shit he saw zhe whole thing..!' Gilbert blinked, his head clearing for the first time since the battle began. With guilt weighing down heavily on his shoulders he slowly turned around, biting his lip.
Matthew struggled to his feet, swaying uncertainly looking at Gilbert fearfully, a look the vampire had not seen since that fateful night….had it only been a week ago? -on the rooftops.
"B-birdie...I-" He was cut off by the sound of feet marching towards them.
Another army?
Elizabeta surveyed the bloodbath from her position high atop a tree, her two soldiers were doing well she could see, especially, though she hated to give him any sort of praise, Gilbert. She jumped from the branch and landed lightly on her feet next to Roderich. The man looked pale and she could tell he was shaking slightly, but he was brave and determined. That was what she loved about him.
"It'll be alright." She whispered to him, running her fingers through his hair, he leaned into the touch slightly and she heard his heartbeat pick up from it's already lightening fast pace. She smirked, of course, her beautiful brunette was still human after all.
"You don't know that..." Roderich was not convinced.
"I do know that. C'mon, it's time to go." And with that they joined the battle.
Gilbert was a fury of slashing nails and snapping teeth, hunter after hunter was tossed to the ground by the monster. Rage pumped in his veins as Matthew was hidden behind a thick line of trees, a splat of blood landed on the neko, who until that moment had been cursing to himself for being so useless, his claws were out and his teeth bared, he couldn't stand it but he damn well would still fight if someone gave him a reason to, but in spite of himself he squealed loudly in fear when the blood spatters hit him. Gilbert took no time in racing back to check in.
"G-gil… I-I ca-can't t-take this…" Matthew stared in horror at the blood, praying it was the enemies red stain and not one of his own comrades. Gilbert pounced forward, kicking down a thinner soldier, a loud snap hit Gilbert's ears, he attacks once more. Tearing the armor away and raking his nails down the hunter's exposed chest, blood spraying out from the deep gashes.
Matthew snarled involuntarily at Gilbert, and the sane part of him, hidden deep within his mind flinched, the monster opened his mouth, maybe to insult the injured Neko who was just lying there in the middle of a battle, perhaps to let the human apologize but Gil would never know as just then two things happened.
There was a horn call. The monster didn't tense, he didn't seem threatened at all, in fact he seemed to relax and it didn't take Gil long to figure out why, there was a familiar scent in the air, overpowering the scent of blood and death, it was another Abnormal, a specific one, one that smelled of vaguely of springtime flowers, a vampire not unlike himself.
"Elizabeta.." Matthew whispered behind him.
The other thing that happened was two men, obviously enemies came bursting into the clearing. They were battered yes, injured yes, but their eyes still gleamed with malice. And with a stifled gasp by the monster who was Gilbert he sadly realized who the two of them were. One was that russian boy, the one they had faced in the detention room, the other could've very well been Feliciano if it weren't for the stern expression.
"Lovino?" Matthew gasped.
"Take the vampire, the traitors seem to want him, leave the neko, he's as good as dead anyways." The Italian ordered, sending a burning glare their way.
Gilbert growled, baring his fangs at the two advancing soldiers and was preparing to pounce when suddenly the world was blurry and his body felt heavy, he swayed on his feet and vaguely registered that Matthew was screaming….screaming what exactly? His name? Was it his name? Gilbert was too entranced to remember, with a final, tired hiss he slumped forward into blissful unconsciousness.
With a slight nod to each other both men took Gilbert by the arm and dragged his body forward, leaving a beaten, half-dead Matthew behind. The neko laid in agony but because he witnessed the sight of a great warrior being taken down by the simplest of things. A tranquilizer dart.
"Gil…" Mathew rasped, trying desperately to claw his way forward but failing miserably. The marks in the dirt only adding to the pain of being unable to help, of being useless.
The last thing he remembered was a soft voice telling him not to worry, that he was safe, although in the back of his mind he knew he was anything but. And then the darkness claimed him too.
A/N: And there it is, the chapter you've been waiting an unforgivable amount of time for. I told you I would give a summary so here it is:
Basically there's an epic battle and Gilbert's being driven insane by bloodlust, basically the monster inside him has taken over (and will continue to do so for many more chapters ;) cuz I love torturing you) Matthew is injured and hope seems to be lost. But Elizabeta's army swoops in to save the day! Unfortunately Gilbert is captured by the bad guys and who knows what just happened to Matthew. Well, I do, but you know…
Haha until next time you guys, hopefully it won't take as long.
