Chapter 6- Luna's POV

That's it just a little closer. I could taste his breathe just a little more and our lips would be touching. Once I've made physical contact I'll be able to suck all the energy and information out of him I can. CREAK! Dammit I almost had him too. Right before I could suck the life out of him through a hot (or rather cold) kiss and escape via window, the door opens loudly and clumsy feet shuffle in and say "kinky". The moment ruined tall, blonde, and handsome jolts upright it would've pissed me off if his expression wasn't so funny. He looked like a little kid who got his hand stuck in the cookie jar. A mix between embarrassment, guilt, and the smallest hint of disappointment crossed his features the last of which was only noticeable which enhanced vision and close proximity. Which I had to laugh at he looked so flustered I turned to look at the person who interrupted us and when I saw her I about choked.

"Isabella" I thought aloud. Milk-chocolate eyes are almost identical to my younger sister but her almost transparent skin is much like my baby brother's. She's a pretty young lady for sure and her eyes are sharp and intelligent. I can tell she possesses her father's ability to deduce situations quickly and see beneath the surface of things. She started using those same gifts on me the moment she saw me, no doubt taking in my every movement, searching my eyes for answers.

My "niece" Bella… I suppose she's sort of a niece. I told the officer I was her cousin but I doubt I'll ever meet him again so, title accepted. I'm her half great grand aunt, plus a hundred greats or so. Bella is one of the last in my family blood line, the very last that has enough blood undiluted to be capable of becoming a hollow. When Bella dies the last leaf of my family tree will have officially fallen. It's depressing having nothing left of the ones you loved to hold onto. I guess that's why I decided to come here myself instead of letting someone more experienced in transformations come in my place. I wanted to see how this would play out; whether she would become immortal, stay human, have children, or die and have all the traits bestowed to her upon birth whither in a grave. Charlie was the last and a surprise given that his parents were in their forties when they conceived. Soon after Bella was born his marriage fell apart. One child is the norm in our kind nowadays. I didn't want a repeat of what happened to Charlie so I came alone. Now here she is next to me and here I am… shirtless… on a gurney… not the ideal first impression. But when life gives you lemons you ask the bartender for shots and a salt shaker right? I tuned back into what Isabella was talking about and decided to just focus on getting dressed and out of this vampire lair. Given that she and I are both alive, the escape plan can wait awhile longer.

"Never mind, I'm not picky I'll take any shirt male, female, tight, loose, it doesn't matter I just want to be covered." I pulled the blanket over myself in an attempt to cover up the goose bumps forming on my skin.

"I'll get something while you two talk." The blond vampire in the uniform walked out swiftly after excusing himself. Upon leaving there is a lull in the room as I wait for her to ask one of the questions that I can still see in her eyes. Instead she answered the one I had asked her earlier.

"You're at my boyfriend Edward's house; you crashed into a tree not far from the front door. You were in such bad shape that Carlisle" Her hand gestures to the door, she must mean Blondie "had no choice but to take care of you here. You're lucky Carlisle is such a good doctor, it's a miracle for you to be awake so soon after having such a bad head injury…" That last sentence was somewhere between a question and an accusation. I don't plan on hiding what I am to Bella that would defeat the purpose of coming here. Knowing the vampire's hearing is allowing them to ease drop on the conversation I can't exactly break it to her here. She'd probably want me to prove it anyway which I don't have the energy for.

"My head feels awful but the rest is bearable. He must be a gifted doctor, despite being so young." While she begins to think up an explanation for how a man who looks like he's in his early twenties achieved a degree in medicine, when said doctor came into the room. Carlisle came back into the room while handing me a shirt our fingers brushed. The men's shirt which had the same intensely sweet smell as him posed no threat and I quickly slipped it on over myself. Taking a shot of energy from that small brush I caught a glimpse of his previous thoughts. Which were oddly enough concern for me and curiosity about my relation with Bella? I removed the bandages that were barely preserving my modesty from underneath the shirt. Before I could address him, he began to speak.

"You suffered only minor injuries besides your head. It would seem you Swan ladies don't have much luck with cars. When Bella and I first met she was in the hospital after almost being crushed by a van." She sounds like a danger magnet. Just like her father- ah memories! "I'll need to check your wound." You mean the one that just healed itself and no longer exists. Not going to happen. It's time for a subject change.

"She's definitely Charlie's daughter then." I chuckled at the thought.

"What makes you say that?" Bella looked at me curiously then as if she didn't see how her and her dad had anything in common.

"He didn't get to be chief of police for nothing you know. It seemed like everywhere he went when he first started his career there was some calamity, carjacking, or accident happening. That's one of the reasons why he went up the ranks so quickly."

Carlisle veered the conversation back to my injury. "It seems it's in your blood, which you lost a lot of last night. Bella you may want to leave the room for this." Bella pales a bit and quickly leaves. He comes around and begins reaching for the bandages that surround my head. Evasive maneuvers!

I turn and let my legs come off the side of the bed to face him. I hope this works he looks innocent enough "I'd normally rather be examined by a female doctor." He continues about to untie the tight bandages. I lower my voice to a whisper as I continue to speak. "I'll make an exception if you promise to be gentle." He looks at me catching the implied meaning and backs away.

"You don't seem to be in critical condition, I think it'll be okay to put this off until you get taken to the hospital. I'll be sure to recommend that female doctor for you. You'll need to be seen as soon as possible." He says in a professional tone without meeting my eyes.

I give a little pout. "Well don't do me any favors."

"Really I insist" He adds dryly. "So why were you speeding into my driveway?" He raises an eyebrow at me.

"I didn't want to miss seeing Bella blow out the candles of course!" Being a good liar is paramount for people with a lot of secrets or lovers. Since I've got a lot of both you'd think I'd be fluent in falsehood but I prefer sarcasm or evasion personally. "How's the car?"

"Unfortunately it's beyond repair. We couldn't find anything salvageable of yours in the wreckage. I hope you didn't lose anything important." Beyond REPAIR, All my clothes GONE, You mean the only clothes I have left are these bloody skinny jeans! OH THE HORROR! I fall back onto the gurney in despair. Not the car… NOOO! The doctor moves his arm in the way to keep my head from falling back. I grab onto his shirt and look deep into his concern filled amber eyes and see my tearful eyes reflecting in them.

I open my mouth and say in a choked whisper "It was a rental." His expression flat lined. He pulls me off of him stiffly calling out to Bella it's safe to enter. How is that even possible? I drove into a tree not a wood chipper!

"Bella I've decided it's best to take your aunt to the hospital. Be sure to have her checked for any brain damage at neurology." I narrowed my eyes at him. Did he just… well played Doctor. Noticing my pointed gaze he tried to smooth over the blow. "I pulled out several pieces of glass from the left side of your skull. Let them know if you have any trouble seeing or hearing." Bella opts for standing at the open doorway instead of entering the room all the way and nodding. She was probably trying to avoid catching fire from the sparks falling between the two of us.

"Thank you for your help, I'm ready to leave now Bella" I say as I quickly stand onto my feet only to almost fall off of them. Forgot I was wearing stilettos. Clutching the bed I pick myself (and what's left of my pride) up. "I'm FINE" I say quickly noticing the chuckles from below. Pretending not to notice blondie's mouth pressed into a hard line to prevent from doing the same. The other vampires are still downstairs. Grimacing as I made my way outside the room with Bella and Carlisle. The file failed to mention a few things about them. A mind reader, manipulator of emotions, and a girl who sees the future isn't something you leave out or forget. The crash is rather suspicious as well. I never just lose control of the wheel. Nothing was wrong with the car before I arrived at the Swan house. I'll have to scan the wreckage myself. Whatever happened wasn't my doing or fault. As we make it down the stairs, I'm aware of several intense gazes on me. Some are polite and some are predatory.
