p style="text-align: left;"Dr. Oliver Davis's life before Gene's death could be summed up with a few different words. Educated, difficult at times, powerful, confused but one word that could never be used to describe his life was exciting. Before Gene's death./p
p style="text-align: left;"Now Gene's death wasn't exciting at all. It was hard, and gut wrenching. Painful in a way that most people wouldn't understand. By the time he'd found his departed brother's remains he had long since gotten over the worst of the grief. It hurt, to be sure but he just felt numb at the sight of the decomposed remains. Gene's death was not exciting, but he felt certain that his dead brother had a had in the excitement that followed. /p
p style="text-align: left;"Starting with Mai. The loud, bumbling highschool girl who came crashing into his life. Literally. He had never felt his heart flutter before or ever been so intrigued by anyone. So, he kept her around. She, along with most of the irregulars that he met on that case were always good for something and something was always going on around him. Try as he might to pretend he was above it he listened in and learned, not just about the people who thought of him as not just a boss but their friend but he learned about life. /p
p style="text-align: left;"Life he hadn't lived, life he had put off to study and be constrained but he was making up for lost time now. /p
p style="text-align: left;"So as Mai came in to give him his last cup of tea for the day he decided to do something exciting for a change and but the book he was reading down and stared at her intently. She blushed at his attention and he smirked but his heart found it endearing. /p
p style="text-align: left;"As she turned to leave after staring at him for a moment waiting for the pleasantry that wouldn't come he grabbed her by the wrist and pulled himself in a quick motion. As Mai whirled around to face him, her eyes wide in shock he did the most exciting thing he'd ever done. Heart racing he just put his lips to hers and for a moment they both stood there unsure of how to proceed. Mai had stiffened at first but after a moment he felt her melt into the kiss as he did. Their eyes closed and Naru; as his Mai called him decided he need more excitement in his life./p
