The worst day of my life happened. How? Well stupid vampire boy Pitch…he did get out, but he followed me to school. Apparently no one else can see him. I do mean no one. He harassed me all day. I do mean all day. He just kept talking to me. Do you have any idea how hard it is to concentrate while someone just won't shut up? Especially, when you can't tell them to shut up. If I told Pitch to shut up I'd be seen as crazy! No one else can see him. If I just started screaming out of the blue someone would call the mental institution on me.
"Don't have any friends?" Pitch sat across from me at lunch. It has only been half the day and he was already driving me crazy. "They look nice." Pitch pointed over to the Goth table.
"Right." I rolled my eyes. "Then why don't you befriend them." I said. I put papers in front of me. That way if someone did walk by they'd think I was talking to myself. Not much better on the insanity level, but it was better than nothing.
"Shouldn't judge a book by its cover."
"Yeah, cause your such a good example. You dress scary."
"I'm the boogeyman."
"And I live at a graveyard."
"That should make you more interesting."
"Then go tell them that." I said pointing to the Goths. "Oh wait. I'm the only one that can see you!"
"They can see me too, but just not now."
"Why not?"
"They are comfortable. They feel safe."
"And I don't?"
"You are a rarity my dear."
"Oh joy." I said once again rolling my eyes. Maybe I could tune him out forever. Though it didn't seem like I was ever going to be able too. He wasn't all that bad. Yes it seemed like the vampire wannabe would never shut up, but then again maybe he was lonely. I would assume it'd be lonely being the boogeyman. Every being would be more afraid of you than anything else. He was scary…. not to me of course. Vampire boy was…how to put this…funny looking…no that ain't right…strange…I don't know how to put it. He was different. Something made us like two peas in a pod. I can't think of how to put it, but maybe I will.
"And then the child screamed in fright." Apparently he'd been telling me a story as I zoned out on him. Not the first time I've done it today. I've had to do it because how else can I somewhat pay attention in class if he's ranting on about some kid he scared in 1667?
Now that doesn't sound horrible. I mean we've all had someone bug us for endless amounts of time. No the worse part of the day came during gym. Of course Pitch was going on and on about something. Except he caught on I wasn't paying attention and made sure to stay directly in front of my face. Me being able to see him was not able to see the ball that came right through him and hit me on the face. We were playing basketball, so it felt like someone had a huge fist and punched my face.
That wasn't the bad part besides needing to go to the nurse to make sure that my nose wasn't broken or that my blood wasn't going to get everywhere. I was escorted to the nurse by the clumsiest girl in the class also known as better watch out Beth. I know not creative at all, but that's what you get for an elementary school nickname.
Beth was a nice girl. I'd seen her several times in different classes. She meant well. She always was trying to be good and kind trying her hardest not to be clumsy. I don't blame her for what happened next I blame the idiot that designed the school. You see all the doors in our school opened out never the administrators, which is where the nurse was located. Usually all the doors were kept open so students could see that the administrators 'cared'.
Well today one to the school councilor was closed. Not an unusual sight. Frank was usually in there. Frank was known as freak out Frank. Name is a little obvious to what he does from time to time. Frank panics sometimes. He has anxiety of some sort. I feel bad for him sometimes. I had to escort him to the councilor a time or two when he started one of his 'episodes'.
Now what made my time worse was it was fire drill day. They really should tell students when it's fire drill day. Teachers seem to forget and they should really tell Frank he doesn't like surprises. When the alarm went of Frank did was Frank does best…freak out. So he slammed the door to the councilor's office open. The unlucky pair Beth and myself were in front of came flying at us. Now it wasn't that bad. The edge just clipped me, but Beth got the full force of the door. She fell flat onto her back clutching her face.
"Sorry! Sorry!" Frank shouted at us. "Let me help you."
"Franklin." The councilor said attempting to calm him down. I forget our councilor's name. I'm sure it's really not important. Frank of course lifted Beth up and basically in his arms bridal style.
"I'm fine." Beth said. "No blood. I'm good." Frank set her down.
"We need to calmly go towards the exit." The councilor said.
"But she's hurt!" Frank pointed to me. "Did I do that?"
"No, a basketball did." I replied. Still holding my own face. I was going to use my t-shirt as a way to hold the blood up but it wasn't very clean.
"The nurse is going out I'll grab my first aid kit and we'll go okay?" The councilor did as he said and we headed out.
Of course we were with all the administrators and adults. The only other student was some kid that looked like he just got dropped off by a parent from an appointment or something.
"Oh my what happened?" The nurse came over to me.
"Basketball." Beth answered for me. "It hit her right in the face."
"Does your nose hurt?"
"No."
"Now?" She started poking at it. Moving my nose around trying to see if it was really not broken.
"No."
"You'll be fine. We'll clean you right up when we get back inside." The nurse kept by me like I was going to fall over.
"Now isn't that a sight someone cares." Vampire boy said. He went on another rant. This time I couldn't reply in anyway. I wish that I could, but it wasn't possible for me with all the people around someone would surely think that I was crazy if I replied. I wasn't going to be known as crazy. I was already known as graveyard Gen. I didn't need some other horrible nickname to follow me around high school.
That was just school. I usually walk home. It's an easy thing to do. Allison said she'd pick up the twins so I wouldn't have to worry about it. I didn't have do any babysitting after school either so I was set for a nice walk home with no disturbances, besides Vampire boy.
Now it'd rained sometime in the afternoon. Normally it's no big deal, but when it creates a puddle and you happen to be the poor soul that falls into that puddle…it's a big deal. So I walked home covered in mud very annoying. Especially, when you had someone laughing at you the entire journey. When I was home and finally free of all the mud. I snapped. Pitch was still laughing and making fun of my being in a mud puddle.
"WILL YOU JUST GO AWAY!?" I shouted at him. "ISN'T THERE SOMEONE ELSE ON THIS PLANET FOR YOU TO ANNOY?" I honestly couldn't take this torture anymore. It was getting to me.
"No." He said simply.
"Cause you treat them like you treat me?" I asked. "I could use some time without you. This is annoying. I don't need you following me around like a lost puppy all the time. I need some time to myself! There has to be some little kid or something that you can scare from time to time! It's nighttime somewhere!"
"If I annoy you I'll just leave."
"Fine by me."
A/N: Sorry it took so long hope you enjoy it.
