5 years later…
I never saw vampire boy again at least from that day. He left. I was glad, but sad at the same time. I was overjoyed to have some peace and quiet, which I could go about my day not looking like a freak with random times I 'talked to myself'. Yet there was something missing from my life. The rest of my school year was great. I actually became friends with Frank and Beth. We all went to college together actually. Beth and Frank started dating too…let me tell you they are a disaster couple. Not a disaster together no you can tell they care for each other, but they are almost assured to leave a path of destruction no matter where they end up going.
I'm twenty-one now. Incase you were wondering. It's also around the fourth of July. So I was home for the summer. Candy and Jack were older and in school, not now of course it was summer. Allison and Dad were glad that they were doing well. Dad and Allison were also proud that I was doing so well in college. I was too actually almost finished with it only another year to go. I couldn't wait. Best thing about college is I got some full scholarship award. So all I had to do was pay for books, which was amazing.
"GOOD JOB KATIE!" I shouted watching my siblings' soccer team running around the field. Katie scored a goal her first ever. I was proud of the kid she was really shy and it'd taken me forever to get her in the game. She used to cling to her mother's leg until she got comfortable with me. Then she'd cling to my leg until I was able to shake her off and get her to play with the other kids.
Now she talked my ear off. Actually she talked anyone's ear off. All she had to see was a small break in conversation and she'd just go for it. It was great that she'd come out of her shell so much. Her mother thought that it had something to do with her being an only child.
Sophie was on the team and Jamie liked to be my 'assistant' coach. Jamie mostly just talked to the kids or he was playing one of his own games. I just liked something to do in the summer. Yes, helping my father paid fine, but I still wanted to do something. Things like coaching kept my mind off everything.
"Go Sophie!" I shouted. "Jack stay in the goal!" I told my brother. "Go! Go! Go!" I swear little kids playing sports was more a free for all then anything else that I have ever seen. I couldn't believe that they were doing this. There was nothing that they really had to do, but move. I know I was probably like that too when I was there age, but seriously could they get any more bunched up? It was almost a dog pile, but they were all still on their feet.
"Let's go!"
The game didn't last much longer. We lost, but we put up a good fight. The kids were mostly enjoying the snacks that Luke's brought with him to the game. Since it was his turn to bring the snack. Next time it was Katie's turn then after that it was going to be Rick's.
"Great game." Allison said as she came up with Dad.
"It was." Dad agreed. He put his hand on Jack's and Candy's head. "My little soccer stars."
"Dad!" Jack and Candy whined.
"Gen!" Frank and Beth came up to me they were also home for the summer. Actually, they were thinking about moving in together when we went back to school. They thought that maybe I could move in with them. I wasn't opposed to that idea, but I feel like I would end up being the third wheel in their lives.
"Hey, guys." I greeted them. I kept my eyes on most of my team though. Making sure that each was leaving with their parent. I wouldn't want anything to happen to any of them. They were great kids after all.
"You want to go out tonight?" Beth asked. "We can go to that fair that's in the next county?"
"Sure." I said.
"Great!"
I thought that going to the fair would be more exciting. It was fun don't get me wrong, but it sort of felt like I was always tagging along behind Frank and Beth. "Gen, we're going to play some games want to come?" Frank asked.
"I'm going to check out the animals again." I said. I didn't want to impose completely on what I'm sure would be a happy memory of theirs. I liked going to see the animals too. I think the prize ceremony was actually finished so I could see what animals one the ribbons.
I had just step foot into the horse's barn when I saw it. A horse, not just any horse. A horse made of pure black sand and golden eyes. It was a nightmare. Several of the kids that were with their parents inside the barn went closer to them. It was as if the children knew that they should be afraid. I couldn't understand why there would be a nightmare here. Unless…
"Hello again."
"Vampire boy." I said turning around in the direction the voice came from. "What are you doing here?"
"Can't I come visit and old friend?" He said curiously as he stepped out of the shadows. Vampire boy did not have on his usually vampire outfit. Instead he looked like a goth cowboy. I almost burst out laughing. "What?"
"Your outfit. Trying to blend in a little to hard?" I asked sweetly surprising the urge to giggle.
"Gen, look what Frank one me!" Beth came into the barn holding a very ugly looking giraffe. "Ooops, who's your friend?" She asked looking at Vamp boy.
"You can see him?" I asked.
"Of course I can silly. He's right there. You okay Gen?" Beth asked. Frank came up and stood next to us. He and Vamp boy actually did the boy greeting of a handshake.
"I'm Pitch Black." Vamp boy said to my friends. "I was just talking to Gen here." I gave him a glare.
"I'm Frank and this is Beth."
"It's nice to meet you." Beth said. "Are you here with someone?"
"I'm not." Pitch said almost too sure of himself. This is why I was so glad to get rid of the arrogant bastard. Five years was not enough.
"Would you like to join us?" Beth said. "We were going on the Ferris wheel next?"
He looked at me I was still glaring. I knew what he was going to say. I did. There was no way he was going to say 'no'. He was a pain in my butt. He was going to make my life miserable in anyway that he could. This was going to be one of them. "I'd love to." He said.
"Great!" Beth took Frank's hand. "Let's go." She turned towards Pitch and me. Beth gave a small nod to me, and mouthed take it. I gave a confused look and then I saw that Pitch was offering his arm to me. He wasn't even looking at me. He and Frank seemed to be having some type of conversation. I couldn't even tell if Pitch was offering his arm on purpose or not. If it was I wasn't sure if I should. I don't like Pitch that much. He's annoying, but it's a nice gesture.
I wouldn't mind losing him in a crowd, but it'd be hard. Besides him being like the only goth cowboy here he was a bit tall. I was up to his chin so I probably wouldn't be able to lose him anyway. I remembered what Grandma taught me when I was little and took his arm. As soon as I did he looked at me like he hadn't expected that.
"Let's go." Beth said again and we were on our way to the Ferris wheel. Of course like anything else there was a line. We all talked about little things that kept us entertained until we made it to the front of the line. Beth and Frank were going to sit together in the two-person seat. I was going to be stuck with Pitch.
Pitch and I took our seats and the ride began to move. "Why does your friend carry that ugly thing with her?" Pitch asked me when we were barely moving.
"Because Frank won it for her. It's a relationship thing." I said knowing that he wouldn't be able to understand. Had he ever been in a relationship? He was the boogeyman. Was he always the boogeyman? Was he once human? Did he even like people for more than scaring them? "Usually when a girl is given something from a guy she likes she'll keep it."
"That's strange."
I shrugged. "It's just the way things are."
"Ewwww they're kissing!" I heard a little boy say from behind us. Sure enough when I looked up Frank and Beth were on the top of the now stopped ride kissing. I rolled my eyes how embarrassing would that be.
"So Frank and Beth are a couple?"
"Yes, and they do things that people like each other do, like kiss." I gestured to the two of them. "GET A ROOM!" I shouted as it almost turned into a full make out session. "THINK OF THE CHILDREN!"
"SHUT UP!" Frank shouted back at me.
"MAKE ME!" I shouted as the ride turned so now Pitch and I were on top. It stopped again. I'm sure it was letting more people off.
"I think I will." Pitch replied.
His face got closer to mine and he was kissing me. I was kissing Pitch Black the boogeyman. Oh what has my life come to?
A/N: While writing this chapter I think I realized that I never once described what Genvieve looks like. Since I've never done that I believe what do you think Gen looks like? Give me descriptions in a review. I promise I'll describe her more in the next chapter. I wouldn't want you to think that she could be just anyone.
