You ever wonder if something is out to get you? Sometimes I get that feeling maybe my luck has just worn out. I tripped five times getting into the house and one time was at the top of the stairs almost sending me back down them again. Thankfully, I caught myself or something caught me. It felt like a pair of arms caught me, but I don't really know. I was tired so it could have been just my imagination. Even sleeping in bed I felt like something bad was going to happen, it almost kept me up all night worrying about it.
Somehow I'd gotten sleep. Just enough that I wasn't tired when I had two mischievous twins jump on me. They were not usually early risers, but I'm sure Dad and Allison would probably have gotten them up to say good-bye and to make sure that the two were fed for me.
Dad came into my room and forced the twins off of me. I smiled at him and muttered thanks. "So kiddo, what are you plans for the rug rats today?" He asked.
"Nothing major." I replied stretching as I got out of my bed. "Maybe the park. What are your plans with Allison?" I asked.
"A small bed and breakfast two towns over. We'll be back by dinner tomorrow." Dad told me. "If you need anything we'll be back sooner."
"It's only the twins." I said smiling. "I can manage them. I know I can. I have before."
"I know kiddo." He ruffled my hair. "I'll see you in a few days kiddo. If you need anything we're a phone call away." He gave me a kiss on my forehead.
"Have fun, Dad." I smiled at him. "We'll call at night to say goodnight." I told him.
"Good Allison won't worry as much."
The twins and I met up with Mrs. Bennett, Sophie, and Jamie. They were on their way to the park too. Sophie and the twins of course played most of the time together. Jamie saw some of his friends and started some sort of game with them. It was some weird game that I'm pretty sure they made up. I kept my eyes on the twins mostly. I knew that they could easily get into trouble if I took my eyes off them. There were several times when they'd done it already. At least this time I won't have to clean up 10 lbs. of flour up.
"Hello." A voice came right in my ear.
I causing me to jump and shout, "Holy…Jesus, you scared me!" I looked over at the offender and saw none other than Pitch. "Don't you have anything better to do?" I asked. "Like ever?"
"You invited me. Remember?" He replied.
"Along not to scare me." I informed him. "Though I wasn't paying much attention to my surroundings." I admitted.
"You should. The consequences can be deadly." He muttered the last part. I think that's what he said. I couldn't quite make sure I was making it out right.
"What?" I asked but the question went unanswered as I heard one of the twins scream. Immediately I shout out of my seat and ran down to them.
Candy was the one in trouble. Her foot was stuck in some kind of hole. It wasn't that big of a deal thankfully it was more of a cry for attention. At least I hoped it was mostly a cry for attention.
"The monster's got me!" Candy cried grabbing onto me when I got arms length away. "HELP ME GEN!" She screeched.
I let her cling to be in her fright and started to sing her a soft lullaby that used to calm her down. I sang it a lot when they'd had all those nightmares years ago. She started to calm, but her grip didn't loosen at all. I stayed calm and quickly popped her foot out of the small hole. I picked her up and carried her a little ways away from the hole. I plopped her back down on the bench I'd been on before and inspected her foot. It was perfectly fine.
"You're okay." I comforted her. I ran my hand through her hair lightly. "Everything's going to be okay."
"I'm okay?" Candy asked. "No boo-boo?"
"No." I laughed. "You're okay no boo-boo. No need for a band-aid. Do you want a kiss to make it better?" She nodded. I gave her ankle a little kiss. "Better?"
"Yes." She wiped away her tears. "Who's he?" Candy asked looking at something behind me. It was then that I remembered Pitch was here.
"This is my friend Pitch." I told her.
"Will he kiss it better too?" Candy asked.
I turned around with a little smirk. "I don't know. Why don't you ask him?" I told her. My smirk grew as I looked at Pitch.
"Will you kiss my boo-boo?" Candy asked him. I knew she was probably giving the look that she gives Dad and Allison when she wants her way. Pitch gave me a look that read 'do I have to'. I just wanted to laugh. I wasn't sure what he was going to do. I was curious to what he was going to do though.
I'm pretty sure that he sighed and caved. I don't think he could resist my sister's face. Which is hard if you didn't know how. It was a bit hard for me to believe sometimes that he would give children nightmares if he couldn't even handle the puppy eyes. That reminded me I needed to feed Delgado and Pandora.
"Can I go play again?" Candy asked.
"Sure." I said and she ran off like a shot. "Watch for holes this time!" I shouted after her. I looked at Jack and Sophie. Maybe someday the two of them would get married. I let the thought wander my mind. Though I didn't let it linger whatever happened would happen I wouldn't force anything. Not like I had anyone.
"Do you desire children?" Pitch asked out of the blue.
"What?" I asked almost as he finished his question. "None of your business." I said. Just because I was under some influence last night does not mean that I'll be under it again. Maybe it was the manure fumes or something, but I was not going to find him adorable today. No matter that I was lying to myself every time I thought that. I would deny it to the day I died if I had to.
'He's like a billion years old anyway; Gen. You'll be dead in a blink of an eye compared to his immortality. Why cause yourself the heartbreak? Just go find a nice guy when you go back to college and you'll never have to think of the hottest…most disgustingly ugly boogeyman…okay he's hot admit it, but never out loud. Yesterday was a fluke you'll move on and everything will be alright.' I thought. Yes, I could find a nice guy to settle down with. Pitch and I would never work out. I'd probably be dead in a few years anyway.
A/N: And another chapter out woo! Sorry for the wait again. Apparently work thinks I should get work and never play. Of course it doesn't help I always say yes when they call and someone called off. I got to pay for school somehow right? Anyway leave a review or don't I can't force you.
